Pietrokovski, “The Landscape of Sex-Differential Transcriptome and its Consequent Selection in Human Adults,” BMC Biology, (2017), outlined 1,559 genetic difference between males and females that are not only related to sex organ differences, but to other organs such as the brain, skin and muscle.
Science is still discovering what it biologically means to be male or female, so even on this basis, let alone with reference to psychological data, there should be a profound questioning of the gender agenda, which takes gender/sex, as a purely arbitrary social construction.      Tosca Lloyd indulges in wishful thinking in his promotion of secularism (‘As Australia grows, religion becomes less relevant’, 28/6). In advocating that our schools and society ‘should be free from religious bias’, he is actually seeking the substitution of an irreligious bias. As for his soft soap claim that secularism does not mean ‘imposing the views of the non-religious on to the religious’, he ignores the horrifying militancy of atheists in France after 1789, Russia after 1917 and China after 1949.
     It is the principle of equity, not equality, that should govern public policy in matters religious. Perhaps the recitation of the Lord’s Prayer at the opening of parliaments could be accompanied by a prayer from a different sacred tradition (chosen on a rotational basis) and a secular exhortation of an inspiring kind. And the National School Chaplaincy Program could be amended to make fair allowance for all reasonable non-Christian points of view, including the secular.

     News of the ‘seismic shift away from religion’ in our nation is alarming (‘Losing our religion but Hinduism on a high’, 28/6). This means that nearly a third of our population believes that there exists no foundation at all for ethics and morality. Choice of behaviour in all contexts then becomes arbitrary.
     The census figures also show that there is a widespread tendency to simply ignore the obvious mystery of the universe in which we live, including the role of human beings as a species privileged by abilities not shared by other life forms. Only a little logic is needed to reveal that logic itself and the rational mind are insufficient to penetrate the great enigmas.
     Why has this happened? Firstly, the churches for too long have clung to outmoded and foolishly exclusivist theology, thus gradually discrediting themselves. Secondly, the scientific revolution has led to an education system that is far too concentrated on dialectic to the deprivation of other modes of cognition from intuition to the mystical.
     And the result? A society that is becoming more selfish, more violent and more confused.

     Further, Western countries have fought “luxury’ wars rather than existential struggles since the end of World War II, with the threat of nuclear attack, holding enemies at bay, until recently when the enemy was allowed inside the gates. In fact, it is enemy ideologies that now dominate the military of the West, as he says, but not in those words exactly, but better words:

     The Islamist killer of British soldier Lee Rigby Michael Adebolajo, 31, has been “radicalising” other inmates  at Her Majesty's Prison Frankland in County Durham, and has now become Britain’s “most dangerous prisoner.” So dangerous, in fact, that the prison authorities do not have the resources to deal with him, even though he is regarded as a danger to other prisoners. He has radicalised dozens of other prisoners, who have now sworn to engage in acts of terrorism once they are released.

     Now let’s see if we have this right. The State does not have the resources to isolate Adebolajo by simply putting him in his own cell. But, it does have the resources to face potentially dozens more terrorist attacks. That makes sense, doesn’t it? The same sense that mass immigration, which created this problem in the first place, makes.

But, the argument is, I recall: why bother about preserving natural diversity of species and races/sub-species, if this is not applied to humans as well? Fowler, “Friendship and Natural Selection,” Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, July 22, 2014, present evidence that friends tend to exhibit “homophily” (“love of the same”) in their genotypes. Cutting to the chase, people in general tend to have racial kin as part of their friendship networks. Sure, there is variation to this, as there must be with any statistical generalisation, but, birds of a feather, really do flock together.

There are a number of factors driving these numbers. Simple population counts are one of them: There are more white people than black people in the United States, so it makes sense that the average American is going to have more white friends than black friends.

The Magna Carta

      A court in Hanover has handed suspended sentences to six members of a Kurdish clan who seriously wounded two dozen police officers during a violent rampage in Hameln. The court's ruling was greeted with anger and derision by police who said it is yet another example of the laxity of Germany's politically correct judicial system.

      The case goes back to January 2014, when a 26-year-old clan member, arrested for robbery, tried to escape from the magistrate's office by jumping out of a seventh-floor courtroom window. The suspect was taken to the hospital, where he died. Members of his clan subsequently ransacked the hospital, as well as the court, and attacked police with rocks and other projectiles; 24 police officers and six paramedics were injured.
