Here are the basic facts, as we quote from The Australian:

Natural News.com, November 24, 2016, notes that the Western epidemic of high blood pressure, has now spread to the developing world, fuelled by economic globalisation. The number of people with high blood pressure in the world has doubled in the last 40 years and the biggest increases are seen in South Asia and Africa. In 2015 there were 1.1 billion people in the world with high blood pressure, and over half of these were living in East, South East and South Asia China alone had 226 million sufferers.

Air pollution, another product of industrialisation, is killing 5.5 million people worldwide, according to the Global Burden of Disease project (http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-35568249). Most of these deaths are in China and India. Liquid and solid particles can cause not only cancer and respiratory problems, but also heart disease. Globalisation, economic growth and industrialisation all come with a cost and are not value neutral, and one cost is global health. Globalisation is killing the planet, and us.

For some time now a small group of scientists have been raising sophisticated doubts about the soundness of virtually all statistically-based research in the social sciences and medicine, with a now classic paper being John Ioannidis, “Why Most Published Research Findings are False,” PLoS Medicine, 2, (2005).
The problems are many and relate to a misuse and abuse of P-value significance tests to systematic biases arising from small, unrepresentative samples.

Yet another addition to this literature is by A. D. Higginson and M. R. Munafo, “Current Incentives for Scientists Lead to Underpowered Studies with Erroneous Conclusions,” PLoS Biology, November 10, 2016. These scientists attempt to account for the Ioannidis-inspired research, arguing that funding mechanisms reward small studies that are likely to produce false results.
Using an ecological analysis, they show that “fitness,” that is academic success, is produced in this way rather than by careful large studies that take more time and resources.
The problem is not merely academic. About 50 percent of research findings in medical research cannot be replicated in human trials, putting a big question mark over the use of some Big Pharma drugs.

One of the inconvenient truths that the “let’s make Australia part of Asia” mania do not openly discuss, is the penetration of Asian organised crime into Australia. A recent article, “China Deals 'Launder Drug-Trade Billions,’” The Australian, November 23, 2016, p. 7, quotes the NSW Crime Commission, in stating that trade deals with China are being used as cover for multi-billion-dollar money laundering, from drug profits.

The NSW Crime Commission said that the over 600 major crime figures are “beyond its reach.” Its law-enforcement efforts have been ineffective in dealing with the problem of the masses of drugs coming into Australia.
The problem now is that Australia, in becoming part of Asia, has also absorbed the Asian crime networks as well. These, no doubt, deeply penetrate into the heart of government, as probably older mafia networks did, and still do.  At the deepest level, government, finance and crime all connect up in the Two Towers.

Heart disease was once the leading cause of death in America, and still is in Australia (considering all heart disease-related conditions). But as reported by Natural News.com, November 20, 2016, surprisingly enough, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are now the world’s leading cause of death, and are so in both America and Britain. In Britain death from dementia and Alzheimer’s accounted for 11.6 percent of all recorded deaths.

This radical increase cannot be due to the ageing of populations, because heart disease is also closely linked to ageing and in many countries the death-rate for heart disease has declined. Doctors are now certainly better at diagnosing dementia and this would have impacted upon the recent morality statistics.

Remember the proposal by the South Australian Labor Premier Jay Weatherill to build a facility for holding the world’s high-level nuclear waste, which would, given Murphy’s Law, ultimately kill us all and make Australia into a radioactive multicult, culturally diverse but radioactively green? Yes, that’s what your nightmares have been about. That is the real reason why you, like Uncle Len, have had insomnia, high blood pressure and an aching back.
Now our premier is going for a referendum for the doomsday dump (The Australian, November 15, 2016, p. 7) that is sure to kill us all, did I say that, for a few dollars. The Greens and Aboriginal groups have been strongly opposing this, all in accordance with my grand plan. And opposition leader Steven Marshall has withdrawn his support and opposed the project: God bless you Stevey!

Oh, the referendum requires bipartisanship because Jay thinks there is no point having a referendum if the “No” side is likely to win. That’s the spirit!
So you in the east and west, be thankful that our cash-strapped pollies may not unleash a nuclear holocaust on you. Behind the scenes Uncle Len letter-boxed daily and has even neglected his writing, disappointing his many thousands of fans, who looked forward to his zany style of dark humour, or near-humour, to wash down each week, the bitter news of politics in the age of Spenglerian decadence. What’s that Uncle Len, a literary allusion? How long before you burst into song? Well, talent I may not have, but at least I don’t glow in the dark. For now, at least.

The first tick of a baby’s heart happens as early as 16 days after conception, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Oxford. Initially, analysts said the heart muscle contracted to beat eight days after conception in mice, roughly equating to 21 days in a human pregnancy. However, Oxford University teamed up with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and found that the first heartbeat in babies happens much sooner. 

BHF Professor Paul Riley, a leading researcher at the university said the team wanted to better understand how the heart develops.

“We are trying to better understand how the heart develops and ultimately what causes the heart defects that develop in the womb before birth and to extrapolate to adult heart repair,” Riley said.
“By finding out how the heart first starts to beat and how problems can arise in heart development, we are one step closer to being able to prevent heart conditions from arising during pregnancy,” he added.
Professor Riley also said that his team hoped the findings could bring them closer to being able to mend damaged muscle following a heart attack.
“We also hope that this new research will help us to learn how the beating of new heart muscle cells might be triggered in replaced muscle after a heart attack,” he said.

Should We Celebrate Carbon Dioxide?

My Lords and Ladies, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Thank you for the opportunity to set out my views on climate change. As I have stated publicly on many occasions, there is no definitive scientific proof, through real-world observation, that carbon dioxide is responsible for any of the slight warming of the global climate that has occurred during the past 300 years, since the peak of the Little Ice Age. If there were such a proof through testing and replication it would have been written down for all to see.

The hypocrisy of the political and chattering class never ceases to amaze me. We have seen the spectacle of male politicians and journalists falling over themselves to condemn Trump’s language and raise themselves to ever-higher moral heights. Yet, while we cannot name names here because of defamation, you can surf the net and acquire much dirt on many leading names. It is well known in Canberra that high class call girls regularly serve the political class. None of this dirt gets out because both sides do it, but from time-to-time a pollie gets careless with payments and gets exposed.

A number of leading pollies in the past were notorious sex addicts and one is said to have died in the act. From a Christian perspective this is sinful and appalling, but is how the world is. What is more appalling though is the sham high morality of pretending to be offended by the “P” word, while Hillary Clinton’s latest Wikileaks shows that she is lying about almost everything.

Here is literally one for the Dr Frankenstein file of mad scientific developments (Natural News.com, September 30, 2016). An Italian doctor claims that he is able to transfer human consciousness to a new body by a head transplant. Experiments have been done in the past by transplanting the heads of one monkey onto another, with limited success as the body remained paralysed, and immune rejection led to the death of the monkey in days.

The Italian neurosurgeon Sergio Canavero hopes to perform the head transplant operation in 2017, fusing the head of a person with a debilitating disease to a body of a brain-dead donor. The operation will take 36 hours which would be highly stressful for the surgeon. It is not known if a severed human head, kept at low temperatures is even capable of survival, but the monkey experiments have motivated the attempt.
In the TV programme Futurama about life 1,000 years in the future, 20th century personalities as such Richard Nixon survive as disembodied heads in special “jars.” The world of Canavero goes one step beyond even that. The thought of inflicting our politicians upon future generations is just too much to endure.

A study by M. Wallington (et al.), “30-Day Mortality after Systemic Anticancer Treatment for Breast and Lung Cancer in England: A Population-Based, Observational Study,” The Lancet Oncology, September 2016, presented some alarming news about chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy drugs have killed up to 50 percent of patients in some hospitals, within 30 days of starting chemotherapy. They died from the drugs rather than the cancer. It was found that 8.4 percent of patients with lung cancer and 2.4 percent of breast cancer patients died within 30 days of starting chemotherapy, but some hospitals had death rates of up to 50.9 percent. These hospitals have been asked by Public Health England (PHE) to review their practices, given that chemo drugs are “powerful medications(s) with significant side effects,” and that there are “potentially life threatening downsides to chemotherapy”: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/08/30/chemotherapy-warning-as-hundreds-die-from-cancer-fighting-drugs/.

Here is a subject which most of us have not thought about: eye pressure spikes. According to Charles McMonnies, “Intraocular Pressure Spikes in Keratectosia, Axial Myopia, and Glaucoma,” Optometry and Vision Science, vol. 85, 2008, pp. 1018-1026, there is an eye danger from activities leading to pressure on the eyes, such as sleeping face down or even doing a gym workout. Fluid pressure in the eyes increase from a wide range of activities such as weight lifting or even eye rubbing. Even a firm touch of the eyes can cause a pressure spike three to five times normal pressure, and strong rubbing can raise pressure to 10 times normal levels.

Pressure spikes normally are not a problem, but those that are long and/or frequent may contribute to eye pressure-related diseases such as glaucoma, and rapidly increasing myopia (short-sightedness).
All this is alarming when one first hears of it, but common sense should prevail in eye care. Treat the cause of eye conditions (dry eyes) that lead to rubbing. Avoid heavy lifting and don’t sleep with your eyes in contact with the pillow. Most importantly, regular eye check-ups, especially pressure tests, is a must for anyone over 40-years. Eye care is a neglected part of health, but sight is our most important sense.

This is a story that I have put off covering for some time because it upset me so: “Poland Considers Banning Abortion after Baby Born Alive Dies Screaming for an Hour,” at http://www.churchmilitant.com/news/article/abortion-debate-sparked-in-poland-after-baby-born-alive-dies-amidst-agony.
The baby in Poland was born after two botched abortion attempts and was left by hospital personnel to scream for an hour before dying. No anaesthetics or care was given to the baby. A polish reporter who broke the story said:

“The scream of this child was so traumatic for the personnel that they declared that they will never forget it.” The incident, thankfully, is now fuelling an abortion debate in Poland, a Catholic country where 70 percent of people are pro-life.

In general, people passively respond to technology, which in the name of corporate profits – and not the common good – is imposed upon them. Then, when ill-effects occur, there is a life-or-death battle to try to get back to lost ground. Seldom do people think in advance of the negative consequences of technology; they are seduced by possible benefits. And, as always, good men do nothing.

Consider nanotechnology, the engineering technology of the very small. It seems now that the latest thing is mind-controlled nanobots that can release drugs in response to human thought. (The Australia, August 29, 2016, p. 8) The idea, still being tested on cockroaches (I wonder what cockroaches think about), is to have DNA robots that can deliver a drug based on brain activity (= thoughts). This is to save on people being drugged all of the time.

An Oxford University researcher, psychologist Kevin Dutton, has claimed that Donald Trump has more – yes, more – psychopathic traits than Adolf Hitler. That headline got around the world, but Hillary Clinton ranked as a psychopath between Napoleon and Emperor Nero! The “research” involved completing a psychometric tool known as the Psychopathic Personality Inventory-Revised (PPI-R), and examines eight component traits: social influence, fearlessness, stress immunity, Machiavellian egocentricity, rebellious nonconformity, blame externalisation and carefree nonplanfulness. Trump scored 171 and Hillary Clinton 152.

Nick Cater (“‘Diversity’ Now a Weasel Word for Gender Warriors,” The Australian, August 30, 2016, p. 12) wrote a good piece on the Safe Schools program and the gender diversity program. Some notable quotes:

“In a relatively short space of time the theory of gender fluidity has changed from a fringe academic obsession into semi-official government policy, thus demonstrating that today’s uncontested nonsense becomes tomorrow’s accepted wisdom. Under the guise of “diversity and inclusiveness” – the weasel words of contemporary morality – the notion that gender is decided by providence has been assigned to the sin bin of political incorrectness.”

In Australia today, very little is written by men opposing feminism, the gender agenda and the “end of men.” Even in the “Freedom Movement” many of  the major players are female, and the issues associated with the implosion of masculinity, are not their concern. They may, indeed, support some aspects of the agenda, in an unthinking way.

Hence it is good that manhood has one interesting advocate, Bettina Arndt, whose article, first in a planned series of articles, seeks to restore balance and rationality. A recent piece “Always Beating Up on Men,” (The Weekend Australia, August 20–21, 2016, p. 17), points out that “domestic violence groups have built an industry on skewed figures.” She quotes Swedish politician Eva Solberg, who last year lashed out at the ideology that it is men, misogynist men, who are the cause of domestic violence. The Partner Abuse State of Knowledge Project database indicated that at least half of domestic violence is carried out by women.

Yuri Bezmenov, a Soviet KGB agent defected to the West at the height of the Cold War. In the West, he tried to warn us – unsuccessfully – that the real threat from communism was ideological, through sowing the seeds of collectivist ideologies in the West, as detailed in, Love Letter to America

Ideological subversion involved seeing the West and its institutions as the enemy. Hence the West can be viewed as racist and imperialist while communist regimes have slaughtered hundreds of millions and are “pure” people. “American privilege” was pushed by the Left in the 1960s, but this has now morphed into “white privilege” and there seems to be no end in sight on the ride down.

A study by I. Muraki (et al.), “Fruit consumption and Risk of Type 2 Diabetes: Result from Three Prospective Longitudinal Cohort Studies,” British Medical Journal, vol. 347, 2013, examined the fruit consumption of 12,198 participants who had type 2 diabetes. The researchers examined the consumption of fruit juice versus the consumption of the raw fruit.

It was found that those who consumed one or more servings of fruit juice per day, increased their risk of developing type 2 diabetes by up to 21 percent.
However, the consumption of whole fruit – particularly apples and blueberries – resulted in a 7 percent reduction in type 2 diabetes risk.
