“Rayshard Brooks was on probation and faced going back to prison if he was charged with a DUI, DailyMail.com can reveal. It was the fear of incarceration that likely caused Brooks to panic in the face of imminent arrest and caused him to make a break for it. Brooks was shot and killed on Friday, June 12 when cops received a 911 call to the Wendy's at University Avenue in Atlanta. Brooks was drunk and asleep at the wheel of his car and blocking the fast food restaurant's drive-thru lane. The 27-year-old father of four was polite and compliant with officers across the 20 minutes during which officers Devin Brosnan, 26, and Garrett Rolfe, 27, questioned him as to how much he had drunk and how he had ended up in the drive-thru. As the interaction neared its tragic conclusion, Brooks suggested to officers that he could just walk home saying that it wasn't far. But after Brooks failed a field sobriety test and blew 0.108 when breathalyzed (0.08 is the legal limit in Georgia), Rolfe who has since been fired, moved to cuff Brooks who suddenly resisted. Both officers were clearly taken by surprise. As their bodycameras fell to the ground in the scuffle that ensued one shouted to Brooks to 'stop fighting' and warned him, 'You're going to get tased,' but the peaceable incident quickly escalated into violence.

     French author Jean Raspail died on June 13, 2020. He is best known to us for his prophetic book, Camp of the Saints (1973), which predicted the racial apocalypses of the West (mainly Europe from mass Third World mass immigration). The book was, at the time dismissed, oh no, that will never happen, even though even then the beginnings of the Great Replacement was being put in place by the elites at the time. Floyd was unarmed and did not appear to be resisting arrest, instead pleading with the officer to let him breathe. The officer has been charged with third-degree murder.

     There is controversy about Melinda Gates wearing an upside down cross, which the paranoids, like yours truly, take as a Satanic symbol. Of course, the mainstream hoses this down, with Snopes.com, not to be confused with the ever-lovable Snoopy of Charlie Brown fame, saying it is is false news, because, well, the upside-down cross was used by Saint Peter, which is true. Further, the upside-down cross is not accepted as the official symbol of the church of Satan, stand back, evil. The Sigil of Baphomet, a goat’s head inside an inverted pentagram, is the official insignia. God protect us. So, does that end it? Well, Google a bit, and one will find many Satanists using this symbol anyway, it is popular, it is an inversion for whatever reason. So, Snopes does not consider that this could be an unofficial symbol, like many  hand signs used  by neo-Nazis and other fringe groups. Why would such a figure use a symbol that is of contested meaning at best, when she could have not worn anything at all? By that I mean, not going naked, a truly terrifying thought, but not wearing any jewellery? Or, maybe a gold syringe, perhaps?

“A very simple way to get around lockscreens and logins to modern computers has been found by a university researcher. Thunderbolt ports, which were invented by Intel and have been installed into many Windows and Mac computers for the last decade, transfer data at very fast speeds. But it does this by using a system called direct memory access, which Dutch masters student Björn Ruytenberg has shown can be hijacked without knowing the computer's login password. Ruytenberg's method, called Thunderspy, even works for disks that are encrypted. According to iTnews, the Thunderbolt vulnerability is not fixable as it requires hardware changes. Ruytenberg himself warns that the only way to avoid the hack is to keep computers physically secure. Intel did release a feature called "kernel DMA protection" last year that partially protects against this hack. But the workaround slows down performance and stops some Thunderbolt accessories from working, which defeats the whole purpose of having these ports. Moreover "kernel DMA protection" is only available on the most recent computers, with many 2019 models not covered. The company itself recommended physically protecting computers from nefarious people. "We encourage everyone to follow good security practices, including preventing unauthorized physical access to computers."

“Code Review of Ferguson’s Model

Imperial finally released a derivative of Ferguson’s code. I figured I’d do a review of it and send you some of the things I noticed. I don’t know your background so apologies if some of this is pitched at the wrong level.
My background. I have been writing software for 30 years. I worked at Google between 2006 and 2014, where I was a senior software engineer working on Maps, Gmail and account security. I spent the last five years at a US/UK firm where I designed the company’s database product, amongst other jobs and projects. I was also an independent consultant for a couple of years. Obviously I’m giving only my own professional opinion and not speaking for my current employer. The code. It isn’t the code Ferguson ran to produce his famous Report 9. What’s been released on GitHub is a heavily modified derivative of it, after having been upgraded for over a month by a team from Microsoft and others. This revised codebase is split into multiple files for legibility and written in C++, whereas the original program was “a single 15,000 line file that had been worked on for a decade” (this is considered extremely poor practice). A request for the original code was made 8 days ago but ignored, and it will probably take some kind of legal compulsion to make them release it.  Clearly, Imperial are too embarrassed by the state of it ever to release it of their own free will, which is unacceptable given that it was paid for by the taxpayer and belongs to them. The model.  What it’s doing is best described as “SimCity without the graphics”. It attempts to simulate households, schools, offices, people and their movements, etc. I won’t go further into the underlying assumptions, since that’s well explored elsewhere. Non-deterministic outputs. Due to bugs, the code can produce very different results given identical inputs. They routinely act as if this is unimportant. This problem makes the code unusable for scientific purposes, given that a key part of the scientific method is the ability to replicate results. Without replication, the findings might not be real at all – as the field of psychology has been finding out to its cost. Even if their original code was released, it’s apparent that the same numbers as in Report 9 might not come out of it. Non-deterministic outputs may take some explanation, as it’s not something anyone previously floated as a possibility.

     I am thinking of some B-grade movie here, the Monster from the lost lagoon, no it is Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954), which probably scared many naughty boys, sneaking out to watch late night TV in the 1960s, while their parents slept the sleep of innocence. Today, we just laugh at this stuff. But, I digress, blame it on exhaustion from these articles, and preparing for doomsday. Now, China denies that the virus originated there, despite the fact that all earliest known cases were documented in Wuhan. Instead, Chinese officials have speculated that the virus originated in a U.S. Army laboratory in Maryland, offering no evidence to corroborate this claim. More recently – and in the anti-Pompeo editorial on Tuesday – Chinese media have begun floating the idea that some link exists between the Chinese coronavirus and diseases related to the use of electronic cigarettes in the United States. The Global Times column on Tuesday was a response to Pompeo stating in an interview on Sunday that there was “enormous evidence” linking the Wuhan Institute of Virology to the pandemic.

     Getting a Pulitzer Prize does not mean that one got one’s history right. Consider this gem:

Harris noted that while that may have been one of the factors that led to the Revolutionary War, it was not the primary determinant. Despite the historian's concern, however, the New York Times and Hannah-Jones published the essay anyway. On Monday, it won a Pulitzer. Media Research Center's TechWatch Vice President Dan Gainor previously told Campus Reform, “The New York Times 1619 Project wasn’t about history, it was about rewriting history." Journalism doesn’t really deliver news now; it delivers narrative. To the Left elite like The Times, there’s no narrative they want to destroy more than American exceptionalism," Gainor continued. “If America had been more evil from the founding, then everything it created must be destroyed - the Founders, the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, religious freedom, gun rights - everything Americans hold dear." "The actual truth of American history isn’t the narrative that the Times cares to report," Gainor added. Harris told Campus Reform Tuesday, "I agree with the New York Times's clarification, as printed on March 11, 2020."

“New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the country will not have open borders with the rest of the world for "a long time to come". Ms Ardern was speaking after attending part of Australia's cabinet meeting via video link. The meeting discussed a possible "trans-Tasman bubble", where people could go between Australia and New Zealand freely, and without quarantine. But she said visitors from further afield were not possible any time soon. Both Australia and New Zealand have closed their borders to almost all foreigners as part of their Covid-19 response. What did Jacinda Ardern say? Ms Ardern said New Zealand and Australia were discussing a "bubble of sorts between us, a safe zone of travel". She stressed there was "a lot of work to be done before we can progress...but it's obviously been floated because of the benefits it would bring". But, in response to a question about the country's tourism sector, Ms Ardern said: "We will not have open borders for the rest of the world for a long time to come."

Posts on Staat’s public Facebook page show strong left-wing themes, including paid activism as an employee of a campaign group, encouraging tactical voting in the last general election to oppose the Conservative party, and hard green activism.

     What we have seen with the Covid-19 pandemic is the rise and continual rise of the technocracy, the rule by elites, wielding alleged technical and scientific knowledge. This was first seen with the climate change debate, but it was not as explicit, as the technocrats were behind the politicians. Yet today, it is all out in the open. No doubt at the highest levels, the unseen and unknown demons who rule, control the technocrats, but from what we can see of the iceberg, the newer new class technical elites have called the shots on the corona freak-out.

Public debate has been abandoned in favor of meetings among small handfuls of unelected technocrats. Politics has been replaced by "science," whether social science or physical science. These technocrats, we are told, care nothing of politics and only make sound decisions based on where the science leads.
