Libertarianism is Naïve By James Reed

Libertarianism is a popular philosophy among free market loving folk in America, especially, but what does the doctrine really mean? Here we have a leading libertarian, Professor Hans-Hermann Hoppe,  sum it all up:

“The theoretical, irrefutable core of the libertarian doctrine is simple and straightforward and I have explained it already repeatedly at this place. If there were no scarcity in the world, human conflicts, or more precisely physical clashes, would be impossible. Interpersonal conflicts are always conflicts concerning scarce things.
I want to do A with a given thing and you want to do B with the same thing. Because of such conflicts—and because we are able to communicate and argue with each other—we seek out norms of behavior with the purpose of avoiding these conflicts. The purpose of norms is conflict-avoidance. If we did not want to avoid conflicts, the search for norms of conduct would be senseless. We would simply fight and struggle.
Absent a perfect harmony of all interests, conflicts regarding scarce resources can only be avoided if all scarce resources are assigned as private, exclusive property to some specified individual or group of individuals. Only then can I act independently, with my own things, from you, with your own things, without you and me clashing.”

Hope Springs from Austria By Tom North

Austria’s general election was won by the center-right People’s Party with 32 percent of the vote. The center-left Social Democrats got 27 percent, and  the nationalist Freedom Party got 26 percent of the vote.
The leader of the winning People’s Party is Sebastian Kurz, who is 31 years old. One would have thought that he was a pinko but he has said:
“Our goal is that we decide who can come to Europe, and we decide who we help, and that we don’t let the [people] smugglers decide … The concept of no borders is not going to work.”

That gave the globalists heartburn again, having just expended a lot of energy neutralising Trump. Nevertheless, the beat goes on:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS3O5zg290k

Trump Finally Talks Some Immigration Sense By Charles Taylor

We have come to see Trump as a controlled opposition, weak and nearly useless, but still better than mere nothing, because he still gets up the snouts of the elites on the odd occasion.

Example: “Just out report: “United Kingdom crime rises 13% annually amid spread of Radical Islamic terror.” Not good, we must keep America safe!

China’s Goal: World Conquest By James Reed

I am not over-reacting, for words to this effect have appeared in the mainstream press: The Australian, October 18, 2017, p. 11.  There it is said that Xi Jinping is rapidly building China into a 21st century totalitarian state.  It is noted that Chairman Mao’s 30 years, which killed millions, is not viewed with any guilt, but accepted as not inferior to the next 30 years of modernisation.  In fact, Xi has taken Mao further building a society of complete IT surveillance. Yes, that is the nation which is set to build a city on our shores.

What is done in China will ultimately be mirrored in the world as China hopes to rise to global domination. Xi champions globalism, while not practicing it for China which is the most protectionist country in the world, comprised of state run enterprises.

What is Wrong with South Aussies? By James Reed

Don’t get me wrong, some of my best friends and family are South Australians…but…I was surprised to read that Nick Xenophon, someone who voted to scuttle changes to section 18 C:
http://www.skynews.com.au/news/top-stories/2017/03/31/senate-votes-down-18c-reforms.html
is almost twice as popular as the current South Australia Labor premier – does anyone know his name?

Have South Australians taken leave of their senses, or is the other guy, really that bad?

George Soros Goes to War By Charles Taylor

When one has $ 18 billion to transfer to one’s Foundation, then you know it is business:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/capitalbusiness/billionaire-financier-george-soros-shifts-18-billion-to-his-charitable-foundation/2017/10/17/d62d69b8-b374-11e7-a908-a3470754bbb9_story.html?utm_term=.144543438d41

“Billionaire financier George Soros, known for donating to liberal causes, now commands one of the most powerful philanthropies in the United States after having moved $18 billion of his personal wealth into his Open Society Foundations.
The philanthropy, launched in 1979 with scholarships to black South Africans under apartheid, supports efforts to promote justice and equality around the globe. The latest contribution vaults the charity into one of the biggest in the United States, behind those such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by the Microsoft billionaires.
“This is huge news, because he grants in a more political fashion that almost all of his peers,” said Eileen Heisman, chief executive of the National Philanthropic Trust, which sponsors donor-advised funds. “This is just going to put more dollars behind it.”

Coming Our Way By Mrs Vera West

What next in the gender bender agenda?  Well, we all live under the dark Satanic shadow of section 18 C, but California has new laws that enrich even that:
http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/10/10/california-law-calling-transgenders-wrong-gender-pronoun-send-jail/

“A newly signed law signed by California Gov. Jerry Brown last week states that health care workers who choose not to address transgender patients by their preferred pronouns could face fines or jail time.
The bill, which was signed into law Wednesday, is designed to protect transgender and LGBT individuals in hospitals, assisted living facilities, long-term care facilities, and retirement homes from discrimination and ensure their needs are met, such as letting them use the bathroom of their preferred gender.

Fighting to Preserve the Christian Civilisation of the West By Chris Knight

Some heavy-lifting European intellectuals – unlike anything which we have here in Australia – such as British philosopher Roger Scrutton, have issued “The Paris Statement”: https://thetrueeurope.eu/a-europe-we-can-believe-in/

The document rejects the cosmopolitanism and globalism of “human rights,” and the  “utopian, pseudo-religious crusade for a borderless world”.  They called for a Europe based on “Christian roots”,  rejected multiculturalism and drew inspiration from the “Classical tradition.” They wrote:

Did a Helicopter Open Fire on the Las Vegas Crowd? By Charles Taylor

Have a look at this before it is taken down. The flashes certainly look like gunfire from a helicopter into thew las Vegas crowd.

The official narrative has been destroyed many times over by now:

Trump said in the US election that he would get to the truth of 9/11; maybe he ought to get to the truth of something that happened on his watch.

A Conspiracy, or What? By Charles Taylor

This story is from the mainstream Los Angles Times, which amazingly enough is still printed in English:
http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-jesus-campos-vegas-20171016-story.html

“The story seemed straightforward: The unarmed security guard approached Stephen Paddock’s room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, distracting the gunman and potentially saving lives.
With a gunshot wound to his leg, he helped point officers to the gunman’s location and stayed behind to evacuate hotel guests.
He was hailed a hero by many, even as the story changed. Twice.
Now, the man that many want to honor and who can help bring clarity about the timeline of the shooting has vanished from the public eye.”

Universities Drowning in Identity Politics By James Reed

According to The Australian, October 17, 2017, p. 1, history courses at Australian universities are “lost” in identity politics, which means radical Left wing feminism, cultural Marxism and “queer’ studies etc. etc.  An audit of 746 history subjects over 35 universities, found that 244 (about one third), were based on identity politics. The understanding of the basis of Western civilisation still took place, but was declining:
https://ipa.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/IPA-The-Rise-of-Identity-Politics.pdf

The conservative response to this is to increase the courses teaching the pillars of Western civilisation, which of course, is a great idea. But, what needs to be noted is that the long march through the universities by cultural Marxism is complete, and in humanities and Social Science topics, even involving the canon of Western civilisation, such a Shakespeare studies, postmodern philosophies and ideologies are used to deconstruct the “racist” texts of dead White males.  Discourse on White racism is spread right through all of these disciplines, and I know of a statistic methodology course at one university which is more about identity politics than mathematical methodology. The universities are full of fanatics, crazy people who do not deserve to be there, while decent scholars have been driven from the campuses long ago.

Outing, “Out of Africa” Brian Simpson

I have been interested in presenting available material refuting the current ideology in human pre-history studies, that humans evolved in Africa about 100,000 years ago, then migrated around the world. Africa is thus, the mother of us all, or so they say.

As pointed out in the journal Renewal vol. 24, no. 1 September 2017, p. 7, the out of Africa hypothesis is inconsistent with a vast array of evidence. For example, it is pointed out that palaeontological evidence from a dig, in what is now San Diego, contradicts the hypothesis. In that dig palaeontologists found mastodon bones that had been broken apart, presumably by use of five large stones that were found next to them. Further tests were made on the breaking of modern elephant bones indicating that these 130,000 year-old bones, were broken by humans, the only creature capable of breaking the bones.

A Part of China By James Reed

News, very bad news, comes that 8 percent of new homes in Queensland sold between September 2016 and June 2017, were purchased by “non-residents,” mainly Chinese. But non-residents gobbled up 25 percent of new homes in New South Wales and 17 percent in Victoria over the same period:
https://www.realestate.com.au/news/chinese-buy-8pc-of-new-homes-in-queensland-credit-suisse/

Letter to The Editor - can all assist in a renaissance

to THE AUSTRALIAN
Kevin Donnelly comments (‘Barbarians at the door after the left’s long march’, 18/10) that ‘the cultural left controls the academy’. Judging by the likelihood of a ‘yes’ victory in the marriage postal vote and by the collapse of the Liberal Party as a defender of conservatism, it seems that the left is gaining control of the nation. Why has this happened and what should traditionalists do about it?
The industrial revolution, the huge growth of cities, the squalid conditions of urban living, the development of mass education, the psychology and behaviour patterns of left-wing agitators (whose disgruntlement leads to a will-to-destroy) and the pseudo-religion of egalitarianism and ‘democracy’ have all combined to produce this tide of communistic barbarianism.
The ruthless nature of the financial system and large corporations has provided ample targets for the leftist indignation.
Only a revival of faith on a large scale can stem the tide. This does not mean adherence to antiquated beliefs and theologies. It means a rebirth of imagination, of attunement of human souls to the beyond, of renewed emphasis on a wisdom that comes from ‘the peace that surpasses logical understanding’.  Poetry, the culture of books, music and the fine arts, protection of the natural environment and the honouring of romantic love can all assist in a renaissance.

Letter to The Editor - do not constitute a convincing answer

to THE AGE
Anna Krien is illogical in her claim that in their ‘no’ campaign the churches ‘should shut right up about the protection of children’ (‘Churches’ marriage-vote hypocrisy’, 18/10). The fact that a minority of church people have been guilty of child abuse does not mean that other church people have no ‘moral high ground’ from which to comment on the ways in which marriage, as currently defined, protects children. Nor can either group be equated with ‘the churches’.

Krien’s blanket assertions that the Safe Schools programme is ‘far from radical’ and is not linked to ‘marriage equality’ do not constitute a convincing answer to the detailed arguments and evidence that the ‘no’ advocates have placed on the public record.

The Question of Europe and Europa By Chris Knight

John Bruce Leonard has contributed two essays on the Europe question:
https://www.counter-currents.com/2017/10/redressing-the-european-question/
https://www.counter-currents.com/2017/10/europe-and-europa/

Using the Catalan independence from Spain and the similar case of Sardinia as examples, the question arises as to what is a nation: is it blood and ties of ethnicity, or is it abstract principles? I suppose for many readers it will be abstract principles, such as “democracy” and liberty.

Transgender, Return to Sender By Mrs Vera West

With all of the debate about same sex marriage and the issue of transgenders, it is relevant to note that there appears to be a rise in the requests for transgender reversal surgery:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-4942482/The-rise-transgender-reversals.html

“There has been a surge in patients wanting to reverse their transgender surgery, according to a leading doctor in Serbia, the global hub of transgender corrective surgery.
Dr Miroslav Djordjevic, a urologist in Belgrade, has been treating patients from all over the world for about 10 years.
His clinic in the capital of a country that is openly hostile to LGBT groups, became an unlikely haven for transgender patiets.  But now, Dr Djordjevic has told The Telegraph that he is seeing an increase in the number of patients seeking reversal surgery.

Are Pollies Druggies or Just Mad? By Mrs Vera West

We have often wondered whether “our” pollies are just mad, evil, and/ or on “something.” We do not have any data for Australia, but there is some American material that may shed some light on the matter:
https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-10-15-pharmacist-who-shuttles-carloads-of-pharma-drugs-to-congress-admits-theyre-senile-brain-damaged-patients-who-might-not-even-remember-what-happened-yesterday.html

“Mike Kim, the reserved pharmacist-turned-owner of the pharmacy, said he has gotten used to knowing the most sensitive details about some of the most famous people in Washington.
“At first it’s cool, and then you realize, I’m filling some drugs that are for some pretty serious health problems as well. And these are the people that are running the country,” Kim said, listing treatments for conditions like diabetes and Alzheimer’s.
“It makes you kind of sit back and say, ‘Wow, they’re making the highest laws of the land and they might not even remember what happened yesterday.’”
