The Saltbush Club today called for an enquiry into a last minute intervention by an American politician, Al Gore, into the Australian Election. The Executive Director of the Saltbush Club, Viv Forbes, said that in such a tight election race, the intervention of someone with the international stature of Al Gore, assisted by the climate activist Australian Broadcasting Commission, could easily change the result of the election.

“The Gore intervention was not subtle - he labelled the LNP government climate policy as ‘not credible’ and taking the country ‘in the wrong direction’.

“Becoming even more partisan, Gore praised the opposition Labor plan ‘as an extremely significant act of leadership on the part of Australia.’

“This carefully timed intervention in a closely fought Australian election by a prominent foreign politician is a blatant attempt to promote a damaging climate agenda already rejected in the USA.

“This surely justifies an enquiry into foreign electoral interference and ABC complicity.”

To The Age        It is good news for the principle of genuine representative government that Nigel Farage's Brexit Party is doing so well in the UK ("Farage tops Tories in British poll", 13/5). First the Conservative Party and then a majority of MPs in the House of Commons have defied the popular wish for Britain to leave the dictatorial European Union, a wish shown clearly in the 2016 referendum verdict. The British people would be fools to take this dishonourable behaviour lying down. Let us hope that Farage is right that "millions of Britons will desert the two main parties" if PM Theresa May and Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn "reach a consensus", because any such agreement would be a betrayal of the majority will and an affront to democracy. It would be a Brexit in name only.

     Make sure LNP controls the House of Representatives. Number all squares, put all Greens last and ALP second last. Beware of “Independents” – they may be turncoats like Windsor and Oakshott a while back. Make sure neither ALP/Greens nor LNP control the Senate. Pick sensible minor parties and give them your first vote. Keep numbering until you get to the LNP so your vote does not expire. Put Greens dead last on every ballot paper and ALP just above them. On the Senate keep numbering until you reach the LNP and give no votes to ALP/Greens. The main aim of Saltbush is to change the climate of public opinion. Politicians are driven by public opinion, which drives voting behaviour. So we need to change public opinion. It only needs a couple of percent of people to switch, and politicians will notice, and trim their sails to the new wind.

     We can only do that if we can communicate subversive ideas as widely as possible among opinion leaders, media and the public. To The Australian        The latest news from Britain ("Don't cave in to Labour on Brexit, Tories tell May", 7/5) suggests that the actual political struggle going on there now is between those who want a strong betrayal of Brexit and those who want a milder one. The tale has a message for Australia at election time. Just as in the UK, so here, the problem for conservatives is that the main centre-right party is actually fundamentally split between liberals and genuine traditionalists. The liberals, alas, in a crunch will side with the Left rather than the Right - as the Brexit tragedy shows. In both nations too few voters really care for traditional values and the attitudes of responsibility and self-restraint that underpin them. At election time here the best that conservatives can do is direct their primary votes to a right-wing minority party if the mainstream anti-Left candidate is in fact a liberal, not a conservative.

To The Age        Denny Meadows says that the Uluru Statement from the Heart "was outrageously dismissed out of hand" (20/4) by the government, but the truth is that the rejection was wise, because the attached proposals are inequitable (contrary to the interests of most Australians) and separatist (leading towards a loss of our national unity and security). There is no likelihood that any "constitutional recognition" proposal will succeed in a referendum. Holding one would be a waste of public money.

To The Australian        If the ALP does win the coming elections, it is to be hoped that common sense will trump fanaticism in the management of Aboriginal affairs ("Dodson under pressure to deliver", 20-21/4). Expectations that "Labor would deliver a first-term referendum on a 'voice to parliament'" will need to be disappointed. All models of "constitutional recognition" involve an innate inequity and capacity to divide, not unify, the nation. Most Australians will not be fooled out of seeing the obvious, so any referendum proposal looks doomed to failure and that is as it should be. Moreover, a failed referendum would see strengthened international pressure put on our government. That also is an ill that should be avoided by common sense and fair play.

To The Age        It is odd that as our federal elections process begins you should editorially warn readers of the "real danger to our communities in saying anything that divides Australian from Australian" ("Get ready for a gruelling campaign", 11/4). Elections are all about division between Australian and Australian concerning a whole range of policies and philosophies. All that can reasonably be asked is for public discussions to be conducted with courtesy, sympathy for opponents and a good sense of humour. It is swinging voters in the centre who will determine the final result. My hope is that they will weigh carefully the values of traditional Australia before casting a vote against the Coalition. Giving the reins to idealistic but foolish left-wing zealots may in itself lead to unpleasant and severe hostility between Australian and Australian in the not too distant future. It is human folly rather than wickedness that breeds revolution.

To The Age        Peter Hartcher's hostile dismissal of Brexit ("Nothing to be smug about", 9/4) misses the real significance of the 2016 referendum result. The biggest turn-out of voters in British history produced a clear “Leave” majority in defiance of all the meretricious Establishment propaganda for "Remain". 17 million Britons rightly turned their backs on the bureaucratic tyranny of the EU, into which they had been inveigled by acts of deception by politicians in the preceding half century. The Establishment has fought back by dishonouring the people's decision. That and that only is why there is a mess. Far from being a laughing stock, Britain is currently pitied by knowledgeable observers because of the way in which it is being deliberately mired, as a punishment, in constitutional confusion. However, the ordinary folk of Britain have exposed the sham that modern two-party "democracy" has become and this will not be forgotten.

“Brexit madness” has overtaken the House of Commons according to one senior MP, warning about the rise in mental health issues among parliamentarians. Education Committee chair and senior Brexiteer Robert Halfon has said that “It feels like the Commons is having a collective breakdown — a cross between Lord of the Flies and One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest.” In comments reported by London’s Evening Standard, the Tory MP went on to say, “People are behaving in ways that were unimaginable even just a year ago, whether they be Remainers, Leavers or in-betweens. The Brexit madness has affected us all”. Mr Halfon is not the only Member of Parliament to express such concerns, with one female MP telling The Sun that parliament had become a “boiling pot of mental ill health”. One male MP was reportedly reduced to tears after finding out he won’t be able to go home to see his children next week, due to the cancellation of MP’s Easter recess. Comments made to a BBC radio programme by Members of Parliament claim Brexit was leading to politicians drinking more and avoiding people. One said it was “taking an emotional toil”.

To The Australian    There it is, almost hidden away in the twelfth paragraph of Greg Sheridan's piece "The Art of No Deal" (30-31/3): the essential issue at stake in the fight over Brexit. Sheridan notes that a UK choice of a no-deal Brexit, which apparently a majority of its MPs in the House of Commons will not embrace, would "liberate its courts and its life from the dim tyranny of the grossly misnamed European Court of Justice." Unrepresentative and self-interested elites the world over characteristically corrupt the judicial proceedings in their nations to imprison dangerous opponents and stifle effective criticism. Kafka, Koestler, Orwell and Solzhenitsyn in their famous novels all showed this wickedness in action and how difficult it is to get out from under the oppression, once it's in place. The EU has continued this dark tradition. The Conservative Party needs to appoint a clearly pro-Brexit leader and that person needs to call a general election precisely on the Brexit issue. It could function like a second referendum; and how foolish would UK voters be to let go such a golden opportunity of confirming British sovereignty and adherence to traditional freedoms!

To The Age        There is more than mere subterfuge in the UK government's manoeuverings in the Brexit confusion ("'Trickery of the highest order': May splits votes to get the deal done"). There is corruption at the highest levels as financial elites, aided by "useful idiots", seek to frustrate the 2016 referendum decision to leave the EU. The EU itself is the creature of those elites, which are globalist rather than nationalist. They are more than willing to stamp on traditional British liberties, via the European Court of Justice, as their real interests are control of populations in order to add to their own power and profits. Dr Bateman was interviewed following an exchange on Twitter yesterday with Piers Morgan when she uploaded a video discussing women's freedom and rights across the world while standing in the nude.”

To The Australian        News from the UK ("Europe at a loss as vote shatters May's strategy", 16-17/2) continues to suggest that the decision of the 2016 referendum for leaving the UK is being subverted carefully and cleverly by powerful interests. Mrs May (a Remain advocate in 2016) is implicated. The strategy, organized from behind the scenes, appears to have been chosen to make the treachery as little obvious as possible. First, cause a long delay. Second, produce a "Brexit plan" which is really a Remain document. Third, if this is rejected, hand over control to the Remain majority in the present Parliament, which will block a "no deal exit" and introduce a second referendum. Alas, Nigel Farage's last minute creation of a "Brexit Party" to fight any new elections will probably fail to stem the avalanche of well-funded Remain propaganda. Reversal of the 2016 result will be deceitfully presented as "democracy" and the UK, its independent sovereignty finally lost, will fall under the same intellectual and moral tyranny that is a fundamental aspect of the EU.

To The Australian        No treaty with descendants of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples should be signed by any government ("Treaty 'won't lead people astray'", 19/2). There is no justification for such an action and it would be against the interests and will of the great majority of the Australian people. The fact is that the tribes living on this continent in the 18th century were unable to defend their territories from the incoming settlers and lost control of them. This failure cannot be reversed two centuries later. Misleadingly calling those tribes "First Nations" does not alter reality or trump constitutional propriety. No referendum to establish any kind of separatism has any hope of succeeding. The Prime Minister will win masses of votes at the coming elections if he simply guarantees that there will be no constitutional change of any kind under a Coalition government without a fairly conducted and successful referendum having been held first. He will be defending our security and political stability.

To The Australian         Your editorial "Pragmatism needed on Brexit" (18/3) is ill-advised. What is needed on Brexit is honesty. Mrs May's proposed deal for leaving the EU has been widely criticised as a "false Brexit" that would not in fact give back to the British people their sovereignty unfettered. The UK would continue to be tied to the nefarious EU justice system which plainly tramples on the principle of free speech and is incompatible with traditional British liberties at law. The gradual absorption of Britain into the EU would continue. Brexiteers considering giving support to Mrs May's deal should remember the old adage: "He who sups with the Devil must have a long spoon." They should also heed the many warnings against compromise with tyranny given by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, the European peoples' "Shakespeare of the Twentieth Century".

To The Age         Eurosceptics in the UK House of Commons should resist last minute attempts to coerce them into voting for Mrs May's pseudo-Brexit deal ("Resistance to 'rubbish' plan softens", 18/3). They should recall how the Irish got their constitutional freedom by not compromising with their fatally tainted British overlords. What is now needed at Westminster is the unyielding integrity that was shown a century ago by Eamon de Valera and Daniel Mannix.   It's surprising how little public discussion there is in Australia about the ongoing betrayal of the British people by politicians and the UK establishment. Our own self-esteem depends considerably on the dignity of the mother country; and the sabotage of Brexit is a wound in our own national soul.

To The Australian        A comment by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez ("EU lights path for May to be bypassed", 23-24/3) inadvertently exposes the corruption behind the ongoing effort to stop Britain from leaving the EU. “We're at a critical moment in the construction of Europe." It needs to be asked: "Who is that 'we'?" It is certainly not the 52% of Britons who voted in the 2016 referendum to leave. Clearly there are powerful interests, both inside and outside the UK, determined not to have their new nation-building jeopardised. French President Emmanuel Macron, riding this wave, arrogantly states that "the British politicians are incapable of putting in place what their people have demanded." No, not incapable, but, so far, as a group in the House of Commons, perversely unwilling. The House should change direction and vote for a no-deal exit. British liberties hang in the balance. Present pain but long-term gain.
