Worse than Even Heartburn By Mrs Vera West

When I come across alarming health news, I feel duty bound to tell readers, because someone might otherwise suffer. This relates to heartburn/GERDS medication, and as usual the disclaimer, this is not medical advice, but just opinion news reporting, but is still worth thinking about, and making up one’s own mind. Sure see a medical professional or two.

“If you suffer from heartburn, you might be willing to do whatever it takes to get relief from the discomfort – but if you’re taking heartburn medication, you could end up experiencing something far worse: severe kidney damage. That was the finding of a new study carried out by researchers from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The study, which was published in the journal Kidney International, discovered that the problem was quite widespread, with more than half of the 125,000 patients taking PPIs developing chronic kidney disease despite not having any signs of acute kidney problems. PPIs, or proton pump inhibitors, are a category of drugs that are among the most commonly prescribed for dealing with acid reflux and heartburn. Some of the brand names you might know them by include Prevacid, Nexium, and Losec. There is an especially worrying component to the issue. Normally, chronic kidney disease is preceded by a sort of “flash flood” warning in the form of acute kidney injury. This is an episode of kidney damage or failure that comes on suddenly within just a few days or even hours of the trigger. Doctors normally monitor patients who take PPIs for early warning signs – such as swelling in the ankles, feet, or legs; nausea; and decreased urination – and take patients off the drug right away should they occur. However, this study has found that this “warning” isn’t happening in many cases and patients are going directly into full-blown chronic kidney disease.”

Exercise Lowers the Risk of Stroke By Mrs Vera West

There is no doubt that we journalists at this noble site, suffering from psycho-political warfare, are prime candidates for stroke and generally bad cardio-vascular adventures. Clearly people like James Reed needs to go on the wagon; he has been good and given up smoking, but with the money he saved he apparently just waste it on more cheap plonk. As for Uncle Len, nobody has heard from him, and he may have died on that hot December day in his galvanised iron shed, but I have yet to smell anything here in Melbourne. Somebody in Adelaide needs to be brave and see if there is a body, and if the body has a pulse. As Trump would say, “sad.” Still there is hope, and that involves the simple task of walking for 30 minutes a day; child’s play, really.

“Recent research shows that you can prevent stroke by doing light exercises. The study, performed in Sweden and published in the journal Neurology, suggested that walking for at least 30 minutes every day may cut your risk of stroke. The study’s researchers recruited 925 patients with a first clinical stroke admitted to Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden from 2014 to 2016. The average age of the participants was 73 years at the time of becoming ill. They looked at the participants’ stroke severity based on data from two Swedish stroke resisters. Stroke severity was assessed based on eye, arm and facial movements, awareness level, and speech and communication abilities. Four out of five patients or 79.8 percent of the participants had a mild form of stroke. Those who suffered from a stroke reported on how physically active they were before the stroke occurred. Fifty-two percent reported that they had been physically inactive. Participants who reported that they were engaged in light physical activity, such as taking a walk for four hours or more each week, or moderate exercises, such as running or swimming two to three hours each week, tend to suffer from milder strokes rather than severe strokes. Light physical activity and moderate physical activity were found to be equally beneficial.”

James Watson and Race By Brian Simpson

Here is a story about political correctness in science, as James Watson, co-discoverer of the nature of DNA, that is the double helix structure, is now under attack by the New Inquisition for his defendable views on racial differences in intelligence. Let us consult one of our favourite newspapers, The New York Times, that gives us all of the news fit to print, and not a drop more:

“It has been more than a decade since James D. Watson, a founder of modern genetics, landed in a kind of professional exile by suggesting that black people are intrinsically less intelligent than whites. In 2007, Dr. Watson, who shared a 1962 Nobel Prize for describing the double-helix structure of DNA, told a British journalist that he was “inherently gloomy about the prospect of Africa” because “all our social policies are based on the fact that their intelligence is the same as ours, whereas all the testing says, not really.” Moreover, he added, although he wished everyone were equal, “people who have to deal with black employees find this not true.” Dr. Watson’s comments reverberated around the world, and he was forced to retire from his job as chancellor of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory on Long Island, although he retains an office there.”

Disease is Knocking at the Door By Charles Taylor

Articles are appearing detailing the diseases that the illegals at the US border are bringing. This is significant because the progressive elites want open borders, with no restrictions on anyone or anything. Presumably, the diseased will have full access to the healthcare system, maybe before locals, as many are desperately ill. And, if these people are admitted, I agree that denying them full health care would be a violation of rights. But, where does this all lead?

“Border authorities are referring 50 people a day for urgent medical care, including tuberculosis, flu and even pregnant women about to give birth, a top official said Monday, saying it’s unlike anything they’ve ever seen before. Most of those in need of care are children, and a staggering 28 percent are under age 5, having been dragged along for the trip by parents who in many cases are hoping to use the children as a shield against speedy deportation from the U.S. The numbers were released after a full review was done of all children in the custody of Customs and Border Protection in the wake of two illegal-immigrant children who died in U.S. hospitals in December. CBP Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said most of those needing help were ill when they arrived at the border, and some appear to have made the initial decision to leave even while ailing. “Many were ill before they departed their homes,” the commissioner said. “We’re talking about cases of pneumonia, tuberculosis, parasites. These are not things that developed urgently in a matter of days.”

The Round Up on Round Up By Brian Simpson

Here is all the recent news fit to print on what is happening with the much used chemical, Roundup. First spray is that  Monsanto released ghost-written papers dealing with the safety of this chemical, which is a scientific no-no:

“The academic journal Critical Reviews in Toxicology has issued corrections to articles that it published reviewing glyphosate’s safety. According to the corrections, Monsanto failed to fully disclose its involvement with five articles printed in the journal entitled, “An Independent Review of the Carcinogenic Potential of Glyphosate.” Not surprisingly, the articles concluded that the chemical was not likely to cause cancer in humans. It turns out that the review was written by experts overseen by a consulting firm that Monsanto hired. In a rare “expression of concern,” the journal’s publisher, Taylor & Francis, admitted that the authors of the review didn’t explain why they were not transparent when the article was submitted and went on to outline some of the wrongdoings. This confirms what Natural News and other independent news outlets – not to mention many Roundup Cancer attorneys – have been saying for many years: Monsanto ghostwrites science and deceives the public to make it appear as though its top-earning herbicide does not actually cause cancers like non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Should We Stop Eating Meat for the Sake of Exploding Third World Populations, and Cuddly Animals? By James Reed

It is hard for a little old wine drinker and red meat eater to accept, but, well, the logic can’t be faulted …  can it? You have, global warming, starving billions of people, all because of farting cows and juicy delicious slabs of red meat that melt in your mouth … no wait James, control yourself, meat is racist, like everything else, just ask Steve King (covered in another post by one of the American writers):

“There's a new diet in town, and it offers a two-for-one special: People can help the planet and even live longer … so long as they stop devouring so many burgers, a new report by an international commission finds. The diet, known as the planetary health diet, is essentially a strategy to help people, especially Westerners, eat healthier meals, with fewer unhealthy foods (red meat, for instance) that are linked to climate change, freshwater pollution and the devastation of wildlife, the commission said. The new diet could make a real difference, too. If practiced by people the world over, as many as 11.6 million fewer people would die every year from illnesses such as coronary heart disease and stroke, the commission said in the report, published online yesterday (Jan. 16) in the journal The Lancet.

The Challenge to Politically Correct Archaeology By Brian Simpson

Paleogenomics, the study of ancient DNA, is upsetting the politically correct establishment, by threatening the mythology that genetically diverse populations, races, simply peacefully blended together, rather than confronted each other in violent conflict, leading to women being captured by the opposing team, and mated:

“College education is a fault line in American society. Men who didn’t graduate from college have not had real gains in wages since the 1960s, and white Americans without a college degree are increasingly dying “deaths of despair” — liver disease from alcoholism, overdoses from opioids, suicides. Now new research has found that college graduation, with all its advantages, is partly the outcome of a genetic lottery. On Monday, scientists published a study in Nature Genetics that analyzed the genes of 1.1 million people of European ancestry, including over 300,000 23andMe customers. Over 99 percent of our DNA is identical in all humans, but researchers focused on the remaining 1 percent and found thousands of DNA variants that are correlated with educational attainment. This information can be combined into a single number, called a polygenic score. In Americans with European ancestry, just over 10 percent of people with a low polygenic score completed college, compared with 55 percent of people with a high polygenic score. This genetic disparity in college completion is as big as the disparity between rich and poor students in America.”

Have Your Family Early By Mrs Vera West

The benefits of young women having families early, then returning to work for the capitalist and becoming a wage slave, like men, are considerable. A recent article by a middle aged mum, put the case:

“I soon discovered late motherhood often comes with a painful backstory. In my case what I’d taken for granted a few years earlier had become virtually impossible. That’s why my message to younger women is: Please don’t wait. Don’t go through what I did. There is never a perfect time. We mended our marriage, my career continued, I recovered from the loss of my father. It turned out anything was possible except having a baby. I was 39 when my husband and I began trying for a second child. Nothing happened. Six months and then a year passed. Still nothing. As any woman who is hoping to get pregnant will know, a year of trying is a long time. And the panic grew. Had I left it too late? And so, I found myself in one of Britain’s largest assisted conception units at Guy’s Hospital in London. Where Mother Nature could no longer deliver, modern science would step in, surely? Lots of women clearly had the same thought, as a third of the female patients at Guy’s ACU are over 40. But, though there have been increased IVF success rates, senior consultant gynaecologist Tarek El-Toukhy explained: ‘It’s non-age-related fertility issues that on the whole we’re getting better at treating. If ovaries and eggs are ageing, there’s much less we can do.’

Are Bacteria Tribalists? By Brian Simpson

We tend to only think about bacteria when they are trying to kill us, but these little critters are very interesting, and have a secret life of their own, often conspiratorial:

“Scientists have long known that bacteria can fight other bacteria by producing their own version of antibiotics. The researchers behind a recent study have uncovered another bacterial survival tactic. By generating toxic proteins, certain bacteria become capable of communicating with one another, essentially allowing them to form their own social networks. This remarkable discovery was opened up by researchers from the Argonne National Laboratory. According to Science Daily, the team found this out after they had obtained molecular protein structures from the NC101 strain of the Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria. The protein structures were identified as being from a three-part system that consisted of a contact-dependent growth inhibition (CDI) toxin, its elongation factor, and its immunity protein. Finding the immunity protein led the researchers to believe that this system’s purpose is two-fold. First is competition, and second is communication or signaling. Through this, the bacterial cells could interact with each other, or possibly kill or even control other pathogens.

Eat Dirt; Lose Weight? By Mrs Vera West

This is an odd one; eating dirt could deal with the obesity crisis:

“Eating a side of a certain kind of dirt with your dinner might help to prevent obesity by flushing fat out of your system, new research suggests. Australian researchers found that obese rats that ate a certain kind of clay shed more pounds than those that were given a weight-loss drug, a new study reveals. 'Go eat dirt' is not a new phrase - or phenomenon. There are records of ancient Greeks who looked at the ground beneath their feet and decided, 'that looks like a snack.' And celebrities like Shailene Woodley and Elle Macphereson have brought this unlikely nutrition trend back from ancient times, eating clay for detoxes. In an unusual turn of events, the new scientific research suggests they might be onto something: an unlikely way to fight obesity.”

Breast Feeding Protects Against Depression By Mrs Vera West

Following on from my article advising young ladies to have their families while one is young, then consider work, comes a study showing that breastfeeding protects against depression:

“Women who fed their babies naturally were almost two-thirds less likely to suffer from mental health problems. And the more children the greater was the effect, an international study found. The joint American and Korean study looked at mothers now in their 50s and older, who had gone through the menopause. The World Health Organisation recommends exclusively breastfeeding during the first six months of the baby’s life, but only a third of British mothers try it at all, and the figures are falling. Reduced government support, cuts in public health funding, and negative attitudes have been blamed for some of the worst breastfeeding rates in the world. Reduced government support, cuts in public health funding, and negative attitude have been blamed for some of the worst breastfeeding rates in the world. And the study supports mother who controversially breastfeed their children up to school age and beyond. Yesterday lead author Dr Sangshin Patk of Brown University, America, said: ‘Our study findings indicate that breastfeeding is beneficial, not only to infants’ short-term and long-term health, but also to maternal psychological health. ‘Expectant and new mothers could be informed about the long-term benefits of breastfeeding for their mental health. ‘Depression is not only itself a psychological dysfunction but also an important risk factor for various physical problems.’”

Vaccine Tyranny This Way Comes By Mrs Vera West

According to the World Health Organization, anti-vaxxers are one of the greatest health threats in 2019! What’s that? People who are concerned about what goes into vaccines and choose to exercise what little freedom they have left, not to have chemicals put into their veins? Yes, those folks, even if they are wrong, for after all, there is no regulation and control of alcohol, which is a far greater killer that exercising freedom!
Here is the take from Mike Adams at Natural News.com, and I don’t think Mike will mine me quoting at length to get this message out there. We could see the end of Natural News.com, and I would no longer be able to cover things that they reported, as our societies descend ever further into the tyranny of darkness, finally becoming cesspools of hell:

“From sources inside the vaccine deep state, I’m being told that this declaration by the World Health Organization is just the first step in a major assault being unleashed against Natural News and other independent journalism sources that rightfully question the lack of safety in toxic vaccines. With this declaration in place, the next steps will include:

Pilates and Low Back Pain By Mrs Vera West

You feel it immediately when getting up in the morning, that stinging pain associated with arthritis. You think that you are not going to be able to face the day, but going back to bed only makes it worse, and there is the desperate need to go to the toilet, but let’s not go there, especially if you are an old man. There are things that one can do, and surprisingly enough the exercise of Pilates helps. Just the thought of it stresses these old bones, but let’s go there.

“People with chronic musculoskeletal conditions may want to consider signing up for a Pilates exercise program. A study has found that it can help people with chronic musculoskeletal conditions function better and manage their conditions more effectively and independently. The study, which was conducted by researchers from the University of Salford in the U.K., was the first study to look at the individual perceptions of the effect of Pilates on the everyday lives of people with these conditions. For the study, published in the journal Musculoskeletal Care, the researchers recruited 22 people aged between 36 to 83 years old, who suffered from a range of chronic musculoskeletal conditions, such as nonspecific low back pain, peripheral joint osteoarthritis, and a range of postsurgical conditions.

Death by Modern Life By Mrs Vera West

Not only can a case be made that the modern world is insane, but a strong case can also be made that modernity is pathological, and deadly.

“Modern life is killing children with the number of youngsters diagnosed with cancer rising 40 per cent in the past 16 years because of air pollution, pesticides, poor diets and radiation, scientists have warned. New analysis of government statistics by researchers at the charity Children with Cancer UK found that there are now 1,300 more cancer cases a year compared with 1998, the first time all data sets were published. The rise is most apparent in teenagers and young adults aged between 15 and 24, where the incident rate has risen from around 10 cases in 100,000 to nearly 16. Researchers say that although some of the rise can be explained by improvements in cancer diagnoses and more screening, the majority is probably caused by environmental factors. Dr Denis Henshaw, Professor of Human Radiation Effects at Bristol University, the scientific adviser for Children with Cancer UK, said air pollution was by far the biggest culprit, accounting for around 40 per cent of the rise, but other elements of modern lifestyles are also to blame. Among these are obesity, pesticides and solvents inhaled during pregnancy, circadian rhythm disruption through too much bright light at night, radiation from x-rays and CT scans, smoking during and after pregnancy, magnetic fields from power lines, gadgets in homes, and potentially,  radiation from mobile phones.”

Alice in Wonderland Syndrome By Mrs Vera West

I found this story interesting because I have never heard of anything like it before:

“At first, the man couldn't believe his eyes. The icons on his desktop computer were slowly jumping out of his monitor, hovering in the space between him and the screen. For 10 minutes, these icons wavered in his vision before eventually disappearing off to his right side. These strange symptoms and others sent the 54-year-old man to the emergency room, where doctors soon diagnosed him with a curious malady called Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, according to a recent report of the man's case. Typically, Alice in Wonderland Syndrome is triggered by causes including epilepsy, drug intoxication, migraines, psychiatric diseases and infections, the doctors said. But the man's episode is the first known case of the syndrome being caused by a glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, the doctors wrote in the report, which was published online Jan. 2 the the journal Neurocase. Just like it sounds, the name Alice in Wonderland Syndrome was taken from the trippy but classic book by Lewis Carroll. Just as the hookah-smoking Caterpillar tells Alice, "One side will make you grow taller, and the other side will make you grow shorter," in reference to a mushroom, people with this syndrome may have "an erroneous perception of their own body, affecting both size and position in the space, as well as alteration of the surrounding environment," the doctors wrote in the report. In the man's case, his Alice in Wonderland episode was followed by a pulsating headache, nausea and extreme sensitivity to light.”

What Flavour of Insomnia Do You Have? By Mrs Vera West

The worst thing about insomnia is perhaps not merely not being able to get to sleep, or waking up and not being able to get back to sleep, but having to face going to work the next day. I have always been a good sleeper, but my late husband, who died of a heart attack, was the worst insomniac I had ever known. He only use to get to sleep a few hour before he had to get up and go to work, and this went on year after year, until he died, maybe because of the sleep problems. Anyway, there are apparently five types of insomnia:

“There's a new way of looking at insomnia. Rather than just considering sleep-related symptoms, a new study from the Netherlands branches out to look at personality traits and emotions, and finds there are five types of insomnia. The findings may pave the way for a better understanding of the causes of insomnia, as well as the development of more personalized treatments for the condition, the researchers said. The study, conducted by researchers at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in Amsterdam, was published online Jan. 7 in the journal The Lancet Psychiatry. Insomnia affects an estimated 10 percent of the population. The main symptoms involve difficulty falling or staying asleep — for example, people with the condition may lie awake for long periods before being able to fall asleep, or they may wake up too early and not be able to fall back to sleep, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Why Don’t the Elites Vaccinate Their Children? By Mrs Vera West

The old saying is that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Thus, regarding vaccines, if they are so good, then we would expect the capitalist superclass to have taken them on-board for their children. Surprise, surprise:

“Gates’ former private doctor from Seattle back in the 1990s said, “I don’t know if he had them vaccinated as adults, but I can tell you he point blank refused to vaccinate them as children.” We know this because the quote was taken from Gates’ doctor during a side note conversation at a medical symposium, which caused a small uproar among the attending physicians, who blasphemed Gates’ doctor for breaking rank with doctor-patient confidentiality (even though it’s a “gray area” because he was speaking to other doctors privately). Still, it was too late – the cat got out of the bag, and now the world knows the ultimate hypocrisy of the elite who radically and religiously push vaccines as the “holy grail” of medicine, all while they keep the same poisons out of their own children’s blood and muscle tissue, knowing good and well the high risk of side effects and adverse events far outweighs any possible benefits.
