To THE AUSTRALIAN    Lesley Beckhouse is right (5/5) to oppose the 'National Compact on Permanent Migration' published by the ACTU and other groups. A close study of it shows that the signatories simply ignore the grim writing on the wall - that serious commitment to 'sustainable' development can only mean a drastic curtailment of our currently runaway immigration policy. A responsible compact would explain clearly now when and how in the future immigration is to be reduced and how, under continuation of the present policy, the problems mentioned by Beckhouse will be addressed.

     The national situation appears to be as follows: administrators of a corrupt financial system, international in scope, are seeking present-time selfish profit at the expense of future generations.
