Did Ivanka Trump Listen to Me about the Universities? By James Reed

I have been ranting and raving about the need to close down the universities for some time now, but with only slow progress. I expect that like most things, the universities will end in their own time, falling apart under the weight of their own evil. In the US though, there is realisation that getting a degree is not a bowel, sorry, bowl, of cherries, plunging students into a bitter world of debt.
  https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2019/03/21/ivanka-trump-wants-america-kick-addiction-four-year-college/

“America’s ever-deepening college debt problem is really a symptom of a worse malady: our societal addiction to college itself. Any sober assessment of the facts would indicate that too many Americans are going to college. As a result, college costs—and debt—have skyrocketed while the rewards for college have plunged. Yet this is something that has escaped the attention of our political elites. And, as it turns out, our financial and cultural elites—as the recent college admissions scandal indicates. Many Democrats want to double-down, promising “free college” to young people—a euphemism for college funded by taxpayers. Perhaps surprisingly, Ivy-league educated Ivanka Trump has recently come out as a skeptic about America’s love affair with college. The first daughter has taken up a leadership role in the Trump administration’s workforce development efforts—and shown a remarkable candidness when it comes to our college problem.

US Abortionists Cutting Babies’ Throats, but Not Discriminatory! By Mrs Vera West

With all of the debate about the evils of discrimination, one would have thought at first glance that abortion would be such a discrimination, against the life of a living being, just as animal rights folk argue in parallel. But, no, the hypothetical right to life of the foetus is always trumped by feminist values, so that infanticide is now effectively permitted in New York.

12 Rules for Book Banning By Peter Ewer

Just to be sure, everything however slightly suspicious must be banned. It does not matter now if it is published by mainstream presses, just ban it, then ban it again, bury it, dig it up and ban it again.

“Peterson, a psychology professor at the University of Toronto, first became famous by his public opposition to compelled use of gender-neutral pronouns and became an international celebrity for online lectures, free speech stances and a bestselling book. Whitcoulls did not explain any connection between Peterson and the Christchurch tragedy or the alleged gunman. Among his fans are some white supremacy adherents, but neither Peterson nor his book is referenced anywhere in the 74-page manifesto allegedly released by the killer prior to the March 15 attacks. The treatise says the murder spree was in response to Muslim immigration, characterized as “an invasion” threatening the white population. Peterson did a series of lectures and engagements in New Zealand and Australia in February.”

Time for South Australians to Get More of Our Over-Population Problems By James Reed

Thanks to the editor in SA for this one, for nobody in the eastern states thinks very much about South Australia. It is like the way Americans are oblivious to say, Australia itself. Australia? Isn’t that in Europe (thinking of Austria as it sounds similar). Anyway, even given the small immigration cuts, done to hose down sustainability concerns about Sydney and Melbourne, South Australia’s power elites are aggressively wanting a massive population increase, in the driest state in the driest continent on Earth, already with water problems, employment problems, you name it,  real environmental and economic sustainability for sure.
  https://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/population-strategy-will-bring-more-migrants-to-south-australia-but-fewer-to-australia-overall/news-story/86209a57c867d22833ff7e70c8a9d689?utm_source=The%20Advertiser&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=editorial

“More migrants will call South Australia home, with far greater ease, under a push to lure new arrivals away from big cities to the regions. Prime Minister Scott Morrison will on Wednesday unveil a population strategy that will slash Australia’s possible migrant intake from 190,000 to 160,000. But the flipside will see scores of migrants living and working in key regions and smaller cities, including Adelaide and SA. Mr Marshall has called population growth his “No. 1 priority” since coming to power. The plan reads like the wishlist Premier Steven Marshall presented to the PM last month as part of his population plan for SA. Mr Morrison’s plan includes new visas for regional areas, priority processing and incentives for international students including post-study work rights and tailored schemes to match skilled migrants to jobs in emerging industries, such as space and defence. It comes as exclusive polling, commissioned by The Advertiser, shows one in three South Australians want to see the state’s population grow, compared to just one in 10 wanting a drop. The YouGov Galaxy polling revealed 54 per cent of South Australians want the population to remain stable.”

Travel Warnings; Beware of Australia! By Paul Walker

Well, this is how things are going at the end of liberty; Australia is now a place our friends in Bangladesh are issuing travel warnings over:
  https://www.9news.com.au/2019/03/21/10/06/christchurch-mosque-attacks-bangladesh-issues-travel-warning-for-australia

“Bangladesh nationals living in Australia and Bangladesh nationals travelling to Australia are advised to be vigilant at all times, particularly in public places, stay informed of potential risks to safety and security by monitoring the media and other local information sources." The Bangladesh High Commission in Canberra issued a firmer warning for Bangladeshis in New Zealand on Friday. "All Bangladeshi citizens living in New Zealand in general and in Christchurch in particular are requested to keep calm, avoid places of congregation and to follow instructions from the Police at all times."

Sweden Goes for Instant National Suicide! Get it Over With! By Richard Miller

Sweden just wants to die, and they are too far gone now, so let everyone else in Europe learn from their national death. Here, beat this for cucked deracinated humanism gone mad:
  https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/20/sweden-population-10-2-million-offers-asylum-china-10-million-uyhgur-muslims/

“The Swedish government will be opening the doors to China’s persecuted Uyghur Muslims and allow them to claim asylum in the country. The decision was made this week by the Swedish Migration Board to ease up the regulations for Uyghur Muslims claiming asylum in Sweden saying that they, along with other persecuted Muslims, would be welcome, Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Radio reports. Carl Bexelius, Deputy Legal Chief at the Migration Board, expanded on the reasons for the move saying, “What we have seen is that it is rather far-reaching state repression, where one can seize and detain persons without actual criminal charges. You are placed in what is described as retraining camp. This happens arbitrarily.”

Talking about a Revolution By Richard Miller

Leftist musicians have fantasized about revolution, but over in France, a great whack of the population see revolution as the only hope of sorting the Great mess out:
  https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/03/24/four-in-ten-french-say-revolution-the-solution-to-countrys-problems/

“A newly released survey has claimed that nearly four out of every ten French believe that a full-on revolution is the best way to solve the country’s political problems. The poll, which was taken by polling firm IFOP, shows that 39 percent of French surveyed said that a revolution was needed to effect real change in the country, a figure much higher than elsewhere in Europe, Atlantico reports. In comparison, only 20 percent of Germans agreed that revolution was a viable political solution, and the number was even lower for Austrians and Poles, at just 14 percent. Consulting director at IFOP David Nguyen commented on the results, saying, “The first thing to say is that this is an absolutely spectacular number. Four in ten consider that a revolution would be a good solution: even if we do not know exactly what they put behind this word, it is the mark of a radical presence very present in the society.”

Don’t Even Joke about Egyptian Free Speech By Peter Ewer

With censorship and the institution of free speech being torn down in the West in the name of diversity and mass migration, we need to see what other goodies are in store for us. Like these tasty treats from Egypt:
  https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2019/03/24/no-laughing-matter-egyptian-singer-silenced-for-joke-over-free-speech/

“An Egyptian singer who made a joke about the lack of free speech in her homeland has been told she can no longer perform there. A video clip circulated online shows Sherine Abdel-Wahab, during a performance in Bahrain, saying: “Here I can say whatever I want. In Egypt, anyone who talks gets imprisoned.” The response from Egypt’s Musicians Union was to barr the singer, popularly known by her first name, from performing. It also summoned her to return home for questioning. Samir Sabry, a pro-government lawyer with a reputation for moral vigilantism and suing celebrities, filed a complaint against the singer accusing her of “insulting Egypt and inviting suspicious rights groups to interfere in Egypt’s affairs.”

Letter to The Editor - The PM's offer to slightly lower our immigration intake is quite inadequate

To The Australian        In all the many words of your front page story ("PM plea: desert One Nation", 27/3) one looks in vain for sound arguments in favour of the Coalition as against One Nation. The minor party has a history of personnel acting foolishly and quarrelling among themselves, which does not imbue a thoughtful conservative with confidence in it. On the other hand, the Coalition, since the deposition of Tony Abbott as PM, has shown too many signs of weaselling compromise with principle. For example, the PM's offer to slightly lower our immigration intake is quite inadequate and suggests a secret kowtowing to powerful interests behind the scenes. Most Australians know in their hearts that we must drastically lower intake or face a severe loss of the quality of life for all except a wealthy minority. Thus there are sound arguments for ignoring the PM's plea and casting a primary vote, if not for One Nation, then for another right-wing party such as Cory Bernardi's Conservatives or the Christian Democratic Party.

Letter to The Editor - The creator and sustainer of the universe, honoured in all sacred traditions

To The Age        Chris Uhlmann is only half right in his assertion that "everyone knows something is broken but no one knows how to fix it." (Comment, 27/3). Yes, there is a current "loss of faith in many of the institutions that anchored our society" and yes, the assurance of religion hitherto provided by the churches is "the most profound loss". Once that source of guidance is lost to a people, you have "the blind leading the blind" until they both "fall into the pit". However, the divine One, the creator and sustainer of the universe, honoured in all sacred traditions, is still here now; and reconnection is by no means impossible. In the last century or so a significant number of great men have pointed the way, including P. D. Ouspensky, Rene Guenon, T. S. Eliot and R. A. Schwaller de Lubicz. Even better, there has been the testimony of sages such as Sri Ramana Maharshi and Sheikh Alawi. Tradition around the world tells that humanity is never left without prophets. What is needed is for more of us to listen to them.

Canada’s Immigration Crisis By James Reed

Even though Donny Trump does nothing but throw out a few insults to liberals, he is still taken to be responsible for almost every bad thing in the universe, from the New Zealand event, right through to the immigration crisis of Canada:
  https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2018-12-22/justin-trudeau-blames-trumps-racist-policies-canadas-immigration-crisis

“ … during an end-of-year interview with Global News, the Canadian leader accused President Trump's 'racist' immigration policies of provoking a worsening immigration crisis in Canada, as more immigrants seek to flee north, fearing a 'hostile, anti-refugee' climate in the US. When asked what he believes is to blame for the worsening crisis, which this year led to the Canadian government putting asylum applicants up in 3 star hotels after shelters - including one in a stadium in Montreal - filled to capacity, Trudeau said it was Trump's policies, not Trudeau's infamous 2017 tweet advising migrants that Canada would offer safe harbor to anybody fleeing persecution, that inspired thousands of migrants to flee north from the US into Canada.

Andrew Yang and the Freedom Movement By Charles Taylor

There is a movement away from Trump by dissent Righters who desperately want a daddy figure, as well as the allure of $1,000 a month; an illusion that no mainstream politician would ever get away with, let alone a Democrat. But what about free speech, a big thing amongst the Dissent Right? Well this article, cited below updates the massive censorship now in full speed. And it concludes with some insightful quotes from Yang, who will bring China-style censorship right to the US:

“Free speech has been under attack for a while, and efforts are ramping up across the globe to silence anyone who thinks outside the box.  Democrat presidential candidate Andrew Yang has even taken a Nazi-style approach to attempt to ban free speech.  Yang has promised to try to use the long arm of the government to “crack down” on misinformation.  Or information you are not supposed to think about. “We must introduce both a means to investigate and punish those who are seeking to misinform the American public. If enough citizens complain about a particular source of information and news is demonstrably and deliberately false, there should be penalties,” Yang explains on his website. *Only government-approved opinions beyond this point…”

Gun Confiscation Really Does “Work” By John Steel

I guess I was wrong about everything I ever did, thought and wrote, and most of all going to war. All wars, even against invaders are bad because it involves guns. Guns are bad; I see that now. Forgive me:
  http://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/after-multiple-reports-about-new-zealanders-turning-in-guns-guess-how-many-actually-did-it_03212019

“Following reports that a flood of New Zealand gun owners have been voluntarily surrendering their firearms in the wake of last Friday’s Christchurch mosque attack that left 50 dead, the numbers are in on how many Kiwis actually handed over their weapons. Out of an estimated 1.2 million registered guns, New Zealand police report that as of Tuesday night, 37 firearms have been surrendered nationwide, according to BuzzFeed. No accounting was provided of how many people owned those guns, the types of firearms, or where they were surrendered. The reports of citizens disarming themselves came after a Monday announcement by Prime minister Jacinda Ardern that several “in principle decisions” on gun control have been made by Cabinet ministers, while praising residents who have surrendered their guns to police. So far, we know of four people who have; Green Party member John Hart and longtime gun owner “@SirWB” – who each turned in a rifle, a grandmother who goes by the Twitter handle “@FeyHag” who said she requested for her family’s guns to be handed in for destruction, and former New Zealand Army soldier Pete Breidahl – who said he warned local police of extremists at a local rifle club where he said he suspected the shooter was a member. “All I want is to go back to my horses, say goodbye to firearms and the bullshit shooting community and its drama and let the police and government sort this one out,” wrote Breidahl in a Facebook post. “I don’t NEED, want or care about guns. I can happily live my life without them.”

Malaysians Attack UN Racial Discrimination Treaty By James Reed

We were slammed with this UN treaty of political correctness back in 1965, which was used in part to end the White Australia Policy, and lead to the age of Asianisation. But, the Malaysians are learning from the follies of the West:

The rally on Saturday is the first massive street gathering since Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad's alliance won a historic vote in May.

Erik Vahl Meyer wants Big Brother ("our governments" in his terminology) to decree "the true history" of human settlement in our continent (31/12). He overlooks the fact that there is widespread disagreement among Australians about the story of British settlement and the shortcomings and benefits of that profound change to human society here.

Karl Schmude has rightly drawn attention to several of the benefits to society provided by churches and other sacred centres ("Ideas, not moral crusades, are the stuff of politics", 31/12). To those he mentions can be added something especially vital: the ways in which churches, temples and mosques arouse and maintain in people an awareness of the Beyond, of the mysterious Otherness of the universe, of our ongoing ignorance of its origin, purposes and overall nature.

I'm not so sure Brian McGuinness is right (2/1) to condemn the use by retired Catholic archbishop Denis Hart of a mitre and crosier at a recent religious service. Rituals dating from mediaeval or earlier times, together with their associated symbolism, have a wonderful capacity to convey the dignity, beauty and glory of the transcendent - of angelic and divine realities.

You are right in your editorial ("No value in sham diversity that stifles honest debate", 2/1) to champion "honest discussions that are necessary to do justice to complex and contentious topics". Here are four contexts in which more openness and fairness are needed in debate in our public forums: (1) the challenge to "orthodox" Christianity posed by comparative religion studies that strongly suggest that the story of Jesus should be understood as symbolism rather than history; (2) the peculiar way in which unfettered discussion of the history of Nazi Germany has been demonised and frustrated by obeisance to the ideology of "the Holocaust"; (3) the strong case that has emerged that the author of the works attributed to "William Shakespeare" was Sir Henry Neville; and (4) the ongoing campaigns to legally and constitutionally over-privilege Australians who possess Aboriginal ancestry. Other readers can no doubt supply other examples.

Only $50,000 to Leave? By Charles Taylor

A “Philosopher” Falls Flat on His Face By James Reed

I know nothing about contemporary philosophy, even less about French philosophy, but that does not prevent me from having an unnatural, perhaps slightly unhinged worldview of philosophers. Thus, following the links form one article, like an ageing bloodhound I came upon this gem, a bit dated, but still steaming with moral lessons:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/7196517/Bernard-Henri-Levy-caught-out-by-fake-philosopher.html

“France's best-known philosopher, Bernard-Henri Lévy, has become the butt of intellectual ridicule after copiously quoting a leading authority on Kant who, it transpires, is a modern-day hoax.
Mr Lévy, who in France goes simply by his initials BHL, has been doing the media rounds to promote his new work, On War in Philosophy.
In his book, which has received lavish praise from some quarters, the open-shirted Mr Lévy lays into the philosopher Immanuel Kant as being unhinged and a "fake". To support his claims, he cites a certain Jean-Baptiste Botul, whom he describes as a post-War authority on Kant.
But the chorus of approval turned to laughter after a journalist from Le Nouvel Observateur pointed out that Mr Botul does not exist: he is a fictional character created in by a contemporary satirical journalist, Frédéric Pagès.
Alarm bells should have rung given that Mr Pagès, a journalist with Le Canard Enchaîneé, a satirical weekly, has penned one book under the Botul pseudonym entitled The Sex Life of Immanuel Kant.
He has even given rise to a school of philosophical thought called Botulism – a play on words with the lethal disease – and has created a theory of "La Metaphysique du Mou" the Metaphysics of the Flabby.”
