     Bolt was cowardly attacked from behind by one thug, who threw some substance onto him, and then a second low-life joined the attack, hurling Bolt into tables and chairs. Bolt fought back, strategically getting his back to a shop front, and kicked one guy in the groin, then punched him in the face, and then punched another guy in the face. He must have done some damage because Melbourne Antifa were crying on their Facebook page that Bolt assaulted them!      Fred Chaney is idealistic but not realistic (‘Don’t fear the T-word’, 8/6). All advocacy of a treaty between our Aboriginals and other Australians implicitly means support for an eventual partition of the continent into two nations.  Australia has already moved too far in that direction with the Mabo judgment, plucked out of the air by judicial adventurism, and subsequent land agreements with, as Chaney notes, ‘peoples, collectives, not individual Aboriginal people’.

     Constitutionally we need to treat all Australians as equal, for reasons of equity, national unity, social stability and political security in dealing with the rather threatening world situation that is developing.  Our governments are right to seek to improve Aboriginal welfare - the benefiting of Aboriginal individuals seen as disadvantaged Australian citizens.

     God does not write books, nor does he dictate them word for word through human intermediaries. This applies to the Bible as well as the Koran.  So merely advocating metaphorical rather than literal interpretation (Letters, 8/6) is not sufficient to deal with the current religion-based political crisis.

     On the other hand both these holy books have many passages that are profound and beautiful, which may well be the result of exceptional inspiration. Thus, asserting, as does Jim Campbell (8/6), that ‘there are no arguable circumstances’ under which the Koran should ‘play a role in shaping the character of any Australian citizen’ is an unhelpful and extremist approach.
     Islam itself contains the solution in its doctrine of shirk - that nothing in creation can be equated to God. Muslims generally need to accept that this applies to their prophet, their book and their tradition. Ditto for Christians.

     Marc Randazza , a Las Vegas-based lawyer who  specialises  in free-speech cases, is representing the publisher of a leading neo-Nazi website, Andrew Anglin. Anglin is being  sued for allegedly  orchestrating an anti-Semitic online trolling campaign against a Montana Jewish  family. The mainstream press give no reason for why he chose this particular family to “harass,” but his website gives his point of view. I should add that I do not support the Anglin site, and what he represents, and see  many of his articles as alarming and fanatical. But, as a free speech advocate I still have an interest in the case, which raises fascinating points of law.

     So the Maritime Union and others are agitating for acceptance of the divisive Uluru Statement (‘Unions lead push for Uluru proposal’, 12/6). Nothing new here! As former communist Geoff McDonald wrote in his 1982 book ‘Red Over Black’, nearly 70 years ago communist leaders were saying how the first step towards making Australia a communist nation would be to establish black republic areas on our continent.      And what would it mean if we went communist? Eventual subjection to an international tyranny operating through the UNO. In whose interests would that be? Certainly not those of our Aboriginals!

    I am not in the book advertising business, but I think there is an answer to the question raised by Eleanor Agnew in Back to the Land (see: http://energyskeptic.com/2011/why-back-to-the-land-failed/), about why the back to the land movement in the 1970s failed. Sure, these people from white affluent families were not ready for the hard toil of farm life and romanticised it, but beyond all else, they were not educated about the ways of the rural. It is best to have grown up in a rural environment to really know what it is like to fight a bushfire, or combat flood, but obtaining knowledge from books is a great help. This was not done in the past, so the movement failed.
    As well, as this was mainly a revolt by white affluent people against modernity, they always had the choice of returning to jobs. But, that choice has now gone, so there may be no more option but to succeed in an alternative lifestyle, or starve.      Now there is news which further challenges the received hypothesis about human origins, with fossils found in Morocco being regarded by some scientists as the oldest Homo sapiens fossils, at 350,000 years old. If this proves to be so, and the fossils are genuinely Homo sapiens, and some scientists, to be expected doubt this, this shoots down the idea that humans are only 100,000 years old, and that that is an inadequate time for racial characteristics to develop.

     Alt Right intellectual F. Instead, Devlin looks at the sins of women, such as female hypergamy (mating up), infidelity, narcissism and deceptiveness. This is unusual because conservatives seem to have swallowed hook, line and sinker, the feminist world view, that women can do no wrong. Men are fearful to call out women, and Trump’s dealings with various female journalists is an example of this.
