China Prepares for War! By James Reed

With the US in flames, the world economy destroyed by the Wuhan flu, which most likely flew out of a Chinese lab, why not have spot of war?
  https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/coronavirus/prepare-for-war-chinas-xi-jinping-tells-army-to-thwart-coronavirus-impact-on-national-security/ar-BB14DhOd?ocid=spartandhp

“Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday directed China's armed forces to strengthen training of troops and to be ready for war amid coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic's visible impact on the world's most populous country's national security. State media reports quoted the Chinese premier as saying that it was important to "comprehensively strengthen the training of troops and prepare for war", "resolutely safeguard national sovereignty" and "safeguard the overall strategic stability of the country". Xi's speech comes amid rising tension with the US, frequent references by local politicians and diplomats of reunifying Taiwan, if necessary by force, and the likely implementation of a new - and controversial - security law meant to crack down on pro-democracy dissidents in the special administrative region of Hong Kong. Two days back, China's top diplomat Wang Yi, heavily criticised the efforts of some US politicians to fabricate rumours and stigmatise China to blame it for the pandemic. The US, Wang said, is pushing relations with China to "the brink of a new Cold War". Chinese state councillor and foreign minister also rejected US "lies" over the coronavirus.

China is Ready to Crush the West and We Must Sing for Joy or be Labelled Racists By James Reed

Former presidential candidate Patrick J. Buchanan has his finger on the pulse. Below he argues that China’s aggressive move to clamp down on Hong Kong, and its intention to invade Taiwan, indicates that it is capitalising on the fall of America from Covid-19, which could have been deliberately released from the Wuhan biolab, being so perfectly “evolved’ to bring down Western economies:

“The United States would be defeated in a sea war with China and would struggle to stop an invasion of Taiwan, according to a series of “eye-opening” war games carried out by the Pentagon. American defence sources have told The Times that several simulated conflicts conducted by the US resulted in the conclusion that their forces would be overwhelmed by the Chinese. One simulated war game focused on the year 2030, by which time a modernised Chinese navy would operate an array of new attack submarines, aircraft carriers and destroyers. The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is seen docked at Naval Base Guam in Apra Harbour last month. The analysis also found that Beijing’s accumulation of medium-range ballistic missiles has already made every US base and any American carrier battle group operating in the Indo-Pacific Command region vulnerable to overwhelming strikes. The Pacific island of Guam, a base for American strategic bombers such as the B-2 and B-52, is now considered to be wholly at risk. “China has long-range anti-ship ballistic missiles and hypersonic [more than five times the speed of sound] missiles,” a US defence source said, meaning that US carrier groups could not oppose their Chinese counterparts in battle “without suffering capital losses”. The conclusions, described as “eye-opening” by one source, are supported by the most recent analysis provided by America’s leading experts on China. “Every simulation that has been conducted looking at the threat from China by 2030, and there have been various ones carried out, for example in the event of China invading Taiwan, have all ended up with the defeat of the US,” said Bonnie Glaser, director of the China power project at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington and a consultant for the US government on East Asia. “Taiwan is the most volatile issue because that could escalate to a war with the US, even to a nuclear war.

Australia Will Feel the Pain By James Reed

China is mad at us for daring to ask for accountability over the whole corona bug episode, and we have not even gone to the level of Donny Trump and talked about engineered bioweapons and all that great conspiracy stuff that everyone loves, or almost everyone. We are just at the “please explain” stage, and swat, we get wacked.  That economies have been destroyed is just to be accepted. If not, we will shut off the trade, no, we are shutting off the trade. A Chinese student I know who comes to the community centre for his one hour of internet, because the university has so many blockages, just passed by, stopped and read what I wrote above and agreed, saying that you Australians do not know the level that China will go to put you in your place, as they see you as subservient, but disobedient. He said he hated the communists as much as anyone, but they are to be feared. He said Hong Kong is going to be a show case, and he is scared, as pain is coming our way, and he fears that the Aussies will turn on good guys like him. I told him that I would not let them. He knows that I am crazy.
Here is the Chinese press threatening us in full glorious black ink, that my Chinese paranoid friend found for me, with the click of a few keys:

“The US Department of Commerce on Friday added 33 Chinese companies and institutions to an economic sanctions blacklist, a clear signal that the US intends to intensify efforts to decouple from China. The move comes as China-US relations are worsening over a wide range of issues such as the coronavirus, economic decoupling and Hong Kong. While China has been trying to avoid escalating its tension with the US, such restraint on its part has not prevented bilateral relations from sliding to the lowest point in decades. On Sunday, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that political forces in the US are taking US-China relations hostage and pushing the two countries to the brink of a "new Cold War." If the Trump administration plunges the world into a "new Cold War," forcing China to take countermeasures against the US and its allies, it would be extremely dangerous for Canberra to become a player in a diplomatic club led by the US, given Australia's high dependence on the Chinese economy. Once Australia is regarded as a supporter of the US in a "new Cold War," China-Australia economic ties will inevitably suffer a fatal blow. This is why Canberra needs to closely watch Washington's attacks which include placing Chinese firms on its sanctions backlist. This offers Canberra a window to observe whether there will be a "new Cold War" between China and the US and to reconsider its strategic relations with Washington.

Has Trump a Drop of Manhood Left? Taking On Big Techy By Charles Taylor

Too little, too late, Donny Trump has signed an Executive Order, which he thinks may curb the powers of Big Tech:

  https://www.npr.org/2020/05/28/863932758/stung-by-twitter-trump-signs-executive-order-to-weaken-social-media-companies

“President Trump signed an executive order Thursday aimed at limiting the broad legal protections enjoyed by social media companies, two days after he tore into Twitter for fact-checking two of his tweets. "We're here today to defend free speech from one of the gravest dangers it has faced in American history, frankly," Trump said from the Oval Office. "A small handful of powerful social media monopolies control the vast portion of all private and public communications in the United States." The president said the tech companies have "unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter" a large sphere of human interaction. "They have points of view," he said. The Trump administration hopes the order will eventually set the stage for new regulations on tech platforms such as Twitter and Facebook. But legal experts said they were doubtful the move would have any practical effect on the tech giants. Legal observers described the action as "political theater," arguing that the order does not change existing federal law and will have no bearing on federal courts. Twitter, in a statement, called Trump's order "a politicized approach to a landmark law," saying attempts to erode the decades-old legal immunity may "threaten the future of online speech and Internet freedoms." The president's latest confrontation with Twitter was set off after the tech company placed fact-checking warnings on two of his tweets that claimed, without evidence, that casting ballots by mail allows for voter fraud. Both Democratic and Republican states have used voting by mail for years without reports of widespread fraud.

That’s Liberals for You! By Charles Taylor (Florida)

Muslim Leftist Democrat member of the “Squad,” Ilhan Omar believes Tara Reade’s claim to have been raped by her-boss to be, Joe Biden. But, hell, it is more important for Biden to get in as the last white president, than well, you know, a little thing called the rule of law:
  https://www.zerohedge.com/political/rep-omar-declares-she-believes-biden-rapist-should-be-next-president
  https://independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election/ilhan-omar-joe-biden-tara-reade-democrat-sexual-assault-a9532026.html

“Democrat "squad" member Ilhan Omar says she believes sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden but would vote for him anyway to defeat Donald Trump. In a Tweet defending her support of accuser Tara Reade, the Minnesota congresswoman said that "believing survivors is consistent with my values". "With that said, in this interview I did on 6 May, we talked about that and quotes aren't always in context. I will vote for him and help him defeat Trump," she said. "This is the most important election cycle of our lifetimes and we aren't going to have a chance if we don't spend our energy in mobilising and building enthusiasm against Trump." Ms Omar is the latest high-profile supporter of Mr Biden to receive criticism for saying they would vote for the former vice president even if they believed allegations to be true or they thought he was the wrong candidate, with the Nation columnist Katha Pollitt receiving heavy criticism for saying she would vote for Mr Biden even if he boiled babies and ate them. "He wasn't my candidate, but taking back the White House is that important," Ms Pollitt wrote.”

Who Fact checks the Fact Checkers? By Chris Knight

I always find it amusing, no depressing, how the Left fact checkers have their own biases that are never disclosed, at least by them.
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/05/27/twitters-trump-fact-check-does-not-disclose-company-partnered-with-groups-pushing-mail-in-ballots/

“Twitter for the first time put a fact-check label on tweets from President Trump, using the controversial tactic on messages in which the president complained there is “no way” that “mail-in ballots will be anything less than substantially fraudulent.” It may be instructive that Twitter seized on the mail-in balloting tweets as the first issue from Trump’s rapid fire social media feed to slap with a fact-check label. Twitter did not disclose in its so-called fact-check it is partners with two groups financed by leftist donors that engage in voter participation efforts, including drives pushing mail-in balloting. Twitter sits on the “Premier Partner” list of one of those groups alongside ViacomCBS, the merger of Viacom and CBS. Twitter’s so-called fact-check about Trump’s mail-in balloting cited CBS political reporter Grace Segers vouching for mail-in voting. Analysts have posited such proposals help the Democratic Party. Republicans specifically fear the prospect of voter fraud, since mail-in voting would be harder to authenticate.

When America Goes Down By Chris Knight

Ferdinand Bardamu, the protagonist from L-F Celine’s Journey to the End of the Night (1932), surfaces today writing dystopic essays about the end of the West and the collapse of all we know from the forces of degeneracy. The issue is that what is at the time promoted as just, human rights or whatever, down the track has socially corrosive effects. Here is a potted history of the decay of the USA.
  https://www.theoccidentalobserver.net/2020/05/23/the-end-of-american-empire/

“The Federalists were defeated in the presidential election of 1800 by the Democratic-Republicans, who ushered in the age of Jeffersonian democracy. There were more White males who had been accorded full suffrage in 1824, which saw the end of Jeffersonian democracy, than in 1800, when it began. The mid-1820s witnessed the dissolution of the Democratic-Republicans and the growth of the highly influential movement for Jacksonian democracy, which opposed the continued disenfranchisement of non-propertied White males. During the 1840s and 1850s, the movement continued to gather momentum until by 1860, White male suffrage was recognized in all 33 states of the American union. In the aftermath of the Civil War, male suffrage was further expanded to include Blacks. The effect of the new legislation was mitigated by post-Reconstruction state governments, which used grandfather clauses and literacy tests to keep Blacks away from the polls. Women were accorded full suffrage in 1919, another watershed in American history. This would have far reaching consequences for contemporary US politics. Female suffrage would shift electoral voting patterns in a more leftward direction. The next piece of momentous legislation was the Civil Rights Act, passed in 1964, which dismantled racial segregation in the South, putting an end to freedom of association. Barry Goldwater, who opposed the Civil Rights Act because it violated states’ rights, lost the 1964 election to Lyndon Johnson, the architect of the modern American welfare state. In 1965, Congress passed the Immigration and Nationality Act, delivering the final death knell to what was left of the old republic.

Will They Really Ping, Xi Jinping By James Reed

It goes to show how little I know, as the Chinese elite turn against Xi Jinping, who I thought was a god emperor for Life. Or was that Putin? Anyway:

“As Chinese authorities botched their response to the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, a quote from the HBO miniseries “Chernobyl” went viral on the Chinese messaging app WeChat: “What is the cost of lies? It’s not that we’ll mistake them for the truth. The real danger is that if we hear enough lies, then we no longer recognise the truth at all.” The analogy between the 1986 nuclear accident and the 2020 pandemic — Communist regimes trying to cover up the truth of a disaster and thereby worsening it — may seem a little pat. It may also seem wishful: After all, the Chinese Communist Party, unlike the Soviet one, emerged from the unrest of 1989 with a tighter grip on power. Edward Luttwak doesn’t exactly agree with the analogy, but he takes it seriously. “The Wuhan virus has made it impossible for Xi Jinping to continue with this program of staying in power for another 10 years,” he says. “Impossible.” Mr Luttwak, 77, knows a thing or two about regime change. A military strategist and historian, he may be best known for his 1968 book, “Coup d’État: A Practical Handbook.” Rumour has it that a copy was found on the body of Moroccan General Mohammad Oufkir after he failed to overthrow King Hassan in 1972.

Billy Goat Clinton’s Adventures on Paedophilia Island; End Times Liberalism in Action By Charles Taylor

A witness said that he saw Bill Clinton on Epstein’s paedophile island. Why was he there? Was he bird watching, or doing a spot of fishing? Surely, he was not committing statutory rape with underaged girls?
  https://www.zerohedge.com/political/witness-says-he-saw-bill-clinton-pedo-island-epstein
  https://summit.news/2020/05/26/witness-says-he-saw-bill-clinton-partying-on-pedo-island-with-epstein/

“A former worker on Jeffrey Epstein’s Caribbean island claims that he saw Bill Clinton there in an explosive new Netflix documentary. The claims run contrary to denials by Clinton that he ever visited the island, which was reportedly the site of multiple sexual assaults of underage women by the convicted pedophile Epstein and his elite guests. The claims are made by Steve Scully, a 70-year-old phone and internet specialist worker who was present on the island of Little Saint James, as part of Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich, which features testimony from witnesses and victims of Epstein’s sordid activities. Scully claims that he saw the Clinton sitting with Epstein in the porch of the island’s villa. Scully did not witness Clinton partaking in any illegal activity, however, and says no other guests were present at the time. Scully says that he saw other ‘important people’ visiting the island, including Prince Andrew, adding that some would be naked and flanked by topless girls. “You tell yourself that you didn’t know for sure and you never really saw anything, but that’s all just rationalization,” Scully notes in the program, adding “Jeffrey Epstein, he was a guy who concealed his deviance very well – but he didn’t conceal it that well.” Previous claims made by Epstein’s ‘sex slave’ Virginia Roberts Giuffre in legal papers also place Clinton on the island. Giuffre alleged she had dinner with the former president, Epstein, alleged ‘madam’ Ghislaine Maxwell and two other women from New York on the island on one occasion. Giuffre also said that she saw Clinton “strolling into the darkness with two beautiful girls around either arm.” In January, pictures emerged of Clinton with his arms around Chauntae Davies, who has said that she was recruited to be Epstein’s personal masseuse and ‘sex slave’: Clinton has also been pictured on the steps of Epstein’s private plane, dubbed ‘the Lolita Express’ with Maxwell in 2002:

Twitter Hates Trump but Loves Commo China By Chris Knight

“Recently Twitter added a “fact check” label to President Donald Trump’s tweets about the concerns surrounding mail-in voting fraud, but the social media site has failed to apply those same fact-checking measures to verified Chinese government accounts that spread coronavirus misinformation on the platform. Breitbart News recently reported on Twitter’s attempts to “fact check” President Trump, this time focusing on the President’s tweets discussing concerns surrounding mail-in voting fraud. Twitter chose to add its own personal “fact-check” to the President’s tweet, Breitbart News journalist Allum Bokhari outlined why this situation is unique in an article writing: Unlike Facebook, which gives itself plausible deniability for fact-checking bias by relying on “third party fact checkers” (almost all left-leaning) to pick and choose what to fact-check and what to ignore, Twitter made the decision to fact-check Trump’s tweet itself, linking to an official “moment” curated by Twitter employees and containing numerous articles from the mainstream media calling the president a liar. In a comment to Breitbart News, Twitter said there was no way for the President even to appeal the dubious “fact-check.”

The Rapist, Pervert Would Be-President (Perfect Choice for a Degenerate Society) By Chris Knight

Not only are there the many rape/sexual assault allegations made against Democrat presidential candidate Joe Biden, but there is sexual abuse too, namely of the female secret service agents who are paid to take a bullet for him:
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/05/14/nolte-sexual-misconduct-allegations-against-joe-biden-extend-to-female-secret-service-agents/

“One of the reasons he was so disliked was his creepy habit of stripping down naked in front of female Secret Service agents to go for a swim. “Mr. Biden’s lack of consideration was even more stunning when it came to female agents,” Kessler writes, “who were offended that the vice president bizarrely swam naked in front of them often daily at his pools at the vice president’s residence in Washington and at his home in Delaware.” Think about the kind of sick pervert who would, without her consent, expose himself to a female Secret Service agent? If you want to talk about a man abusing his power, how about the vice president of the United States parading around naked in front of helpless, female Secret Service agents who have no agency to pushback — they just shut up and take it from a jerk they’re willing to take a bullet for. When we learned Harvey Weinstein and Charlie Rose were exposing themselves to women without their consent, we were all correctly horrified by such a thing, by their appalling abuse of power. So how is Weinstein or Rose exposing themselves in the shower or by popping open their respective bathrobes any different from Biden swimming nude in front of female Secret Service agents? It’s not. This unbelievable creep has not only been credibly accused of a violent sexual assault, has not only been hit with seven other accusations of unwanted touching and kissing, but we have video after video of him pawing women and children, making them visibly uncomfortable in public with his unwanted kisses and hair-sniffing. There is something terribly, unforgivably wrong with Rapey Joe Biden.

Here is How Ultra-Liberalism Commits Suicide By Chris Knight

How nice for the ultra-liberals to worry so much about the freedom of Big Tech, who are doing what they can, in turn, to squash the freedom of those little people they do not like:
  https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2020/05/14/republican-set-to-lobby-for-big-techs-right-to-censor-conservatives/

“Bradley Smith, a law professor and former Republican Federal Election Commissioner, is set to serve on the board of a new advocacy group aimed at defending Big Tech companies from regulation. Smith previously ran the “Institute for Free Speech,” which similarly opposed the regulation of Silicon Valley giants. As Breitbart News reported yesterday, a new lobbying group called “American Edge” is being set up with the quiet support of Facebook. The group’s aim is to defend big tech against Republican and Democrat efforts to rein in their unaccountable power. According to the Washington Post, which broke the story, the group will argue that Big Tech companies are “essential” to free speech on the internet. Smith, one of the Republicans on the board of American Edge, is known for his opposition to campaign finance reform, which aims to make it harder for big money to dominate American politics. He founded the Institute for Free Speech (previously called the Center for Competitive Politics) after leaving the FEC. The Institute’s initial purpose was to lobby against campaign finance reform. In recent years, the Institute for Free Speech has argued that Congress should not alter Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which gives tech companies virtually limitless power to censor their users. In 2019, the Institute argued that altering Section 230 somehow “threatens the First Amendment.” The article simultaneously acknowledge that Section 230 empowered tech companies to censor their platforms, while arguing that the law should not be altered: Senator Cruz has forgotten, or misrepresents, that Section 230 was created to encourage platforms to remove objectionable content, not to enforce “neutrality.” Had Internet companies simply been treated as publishers, they would have been liable for any illegal content that appeared on their platforms. The only way Internet companies could have avoided liability would be to adopt a completely hands-off approach to content moderation, but this presented its own problems. The founder of the “Institute for Free Speech” has been rewarded for his organization’s efforts by being tapped to serve on the board of the new Facebook-backed advocacy group. In Washington, shilling for big tech companies clearly pays dividends.

Trump will Mobilise the Military to “Distribute” a Vaccine for Covid-19 When Available By Chris Knight

President Donald Duck Trump will mobilise the US military to “distribute” a Covid-19 vaccine once it is available, which he thinks will take place at the end of 2020. As he did not mention voluntary distribution, I imagine people will be vaccinated at gun point, for why else the military, for a compliant population? One problem: he will not be president, and will be in a little cage by then, his empire dissolved. Oh, well, he may wake up to reality then, but I doubt it, since prior to his election he was critical of the very policy he hopes to put in place.

Living Now Under the China/Soviet Regime By James Reed

The corona bug has been a gift from the Dark Lords to the centralised powers. Who would have thought that the power to regulate everything from exercise to bowel movements would come down from the oppressive state so quick? Talk about prison planet:
  https://quadrant.org.au/opinion/qed/2020/05/kommissar-of-all-the-kiwis/

“New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has joined Australia’s National Cabinet to contribute to the COVIS-19 response, Prime Minister Scott Morrison saying he was delighted to invite his New Zealand counterpart to attend the meeting with all Australian states, territory premiers and chief ministers. Curiously, Mr Morrison suggested to Ms Ardern a similar app to the controversial COVIDSafe app be developed for New Zealand. The app, which is used to trace Australian citizens, allows officials to de-encrypt contact information from the user’s phone on the basis of a positive COVID-19 result. According to Dr Vanessa Teague, chief executive of Thinking CyberSecurity and an adjunct professor at the Australian National University, this “centralised” tracing app “inevitably means the authorities are getting a complete list of your contacts”. Morrison will most likely not be interested to discuss how his National Cabinet “ludicrously delayed reopening of the economy to repair the very mess for which it is totally responsible”.  By entirely trusting the anointed advice of carefully selected medical advisers, writes emeritus professor David Flint, Morrison’s National Cabinet has not just “failed to protect the vulnerable to the high degree necessary”, but it “went beyond the pale in imposing a draconian and wholly unnecessary lockdown”. By assessing the matter from an essentially constitutional law perspective, Professor Flint concludes:

America Comes to the Rescue! By James Reed

“A bipartisan group of US Congress members has blasted China for threatening economic retaliation against Australia, following the Morrison government's call for an independent investigation into the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. In a letter to Australia's US Ambassador Arthur Sinodinos, the 27 senators and House of Representatives members said that China had made "deeply disturbing" threats to punish Australia for seeking an international inquiry into the origins of COVID-19. "This incident is part of a broader and concerning pattern from the Chinese government," the politicians said in the letter. "As we continue to confront this deadly disease and its consequences, we will be faced with many tough decisions, including those that may arise from the Chinese government’s continued lack of cooperation and transparency. "No matter the external pressure or coercion, we will always have Australia’s back, just as Australia has always had ours."

Hypocritical Hollywood By Mrs Vera West

When Trump-appointee Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh was up for appointment Hollywood pushed “believe women,” even though the rape claims were shown to be false. But the rape claims against Joe Biden are just too inconvenient, so the victim is attacked:

“A new study has identified nearly 100 Hollywood figures who smeared Brett Kavanaugh but who have either remained silent on or have defended Joe Biden, who has been accused by Tara Reade of sexually assaulting her nearly three decades ago. In some cases, #MeToo celebrities have actively sought to discredit Reade by implying that she is a liar or a Russian asset. The industry hypocrisy is catalogued in a new Newsbusters study that singles out stars including Alyssa Milano, Debra Messing, Jimmy Kimmel, and Patricia Arquette. In all, the study identified 95 entertainment industry figures who appear to have a double standard when it comes to the #MeToo movement. The study also highlights Time’s Up advocates including Jessica Chastain, Brie Larson, Natalie Portman, and Julianne Moore who have not publicly commented on the allegations against Biden. But these A-list actresses voiced support for Christine Blasey Ford and her accusations against Kavanaugh.”

Obama has largely kept out of the fray even as Trump has blamed him and his Democratic administration for a variety of problems related to having sufficient supplies to battle the pandemic that has killed more than 75,000 Americans.
But in his call on Friday with 3,000 members of the Obama Alumni Association, people who served in his administration, Obama urged his supporters to get behind Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, who is trying to unseat Trump in the Nov. 3 election.’

What Would Make Conservatives, Conserve? By Charles Taylor

I do not agree with everything at this site, but there is some good writing, especially attacking neo-liberalism and conservativism, with some quotes of interest to follow, on the weaknesses of conservativism:
  http://www.occidentaldissent.com/2020/05/10/conservatives-are-finally-rising-up/

“For decades, nationalists have argued about what it will take for the average American conservative to rise up. The answer was when FOX News told him to spread the coronavirus in his community. If nothing else, the coronavirus should settle this question once and for all. Nationalists have never been able to connect with these people because of their orientation toward individualism and materialism and their ideological frame which is liberalism. They simply don’t share our core values and beliefs. Conservatives only have an extremely weak sense of racial or ethnic identity. They have a national identity which is based on liberalism. Their whole belief system is built upon an edifice of individualism and selfishness. Why is the Coronavirus Tea Party springing up around the country now, but not before? It is because conservatives and libertarians have been personally impacted by the virus. As recently as February, conservatives weren’t rising up in the streets. Over the past twenty years, countless black-on-white crimes have occurred … and they slept. Tens of millions of illegal aliens have poured into the country … and they slept. American culture has gone in the toilet … and they slept. … Confederate monuments were torn down all over the South … and they slept. Trump betrayed all his campaign promises except for the tax cuts and the stock market boom … and they slept. They lack a conception of the common good. …

China Gets Ready for War By James Reed

While the US has recently performed sabre rattling, China may be thinking about invading Taiwan, after giving the world the gift of corona. Then it will be the extra birthday gift of war, which is more than most globalist financial neo-con nihilists could possibly want, bringing all of their birthdays at once:

“Emboldened by America’s apparent distraction, China has reasserted its claims over territories in the South and East China Seas by dispatching survey and coastguard ships, leading to confrontations with vessels from Vietnam, Malaysia and Japan. It also claims to have “expelled” US warships from waters around the Paracel Islands, which it claims as its own. Last week two Chinese ships scared off a Japanese fishing boat in the waters around the Senkaku islands before the Japanese coastguard arrived and ordered the Chinese vessels to leave. On Monday Beijing declared it had an “inherent right” to patrol the waters near disputed islands in the East China Sea. A growing number of social media users in China are urging Beijing to exploit America’s preoccupation with the pandemic to invade Taiwan. At the same time, an influential state media boss in China has called for an expansion of the country’s nuclear arsenal, increasing it to 1000 warheads from its stockpile of about 300. “You don’t ask for peaceful co-existence between countries, you forge it with strategic tools, especially when we are faced with the reality that we are interacting with difficulty with a United States that is becoming increasingly irrational,” wrote Hu Xijin, editor-in-chief of the Global Times, a Communist Party newspaper. … A superpower war involving China and the US has become that much easier to imagine this year, Richard Lloyd Parry writes. The pandemic, far from bringing the world together in solidarity against a common enemy, is widening fissures into cracks, and cracks into crevasses. Having reached a cautious truce in last year’s trade war, President Trump has made China’s culpability for the outbreak a central part of his re-election strategy. The status of Taiwan has again come to the fore. China’s tactics may have become bolder but the strategy remains the same: superpower dominance achieved through an inexorable growth of economic, military and political strength; a strength that is still far from being fully realised. President Xi and his strategists in the Communist Party believe that American decline, and Chinese resurgence, are matters of long-term historical inevitability, not short-term opportunism. The spectacle of Mr Trump’s erratic presidency gives them more conviction than ever. However, they understand how much they have to lose by leaping for Taiwan too early, or by provoking outright confrontation with Japan when the balance of military power is not yet decisively in their favour.
