Letter to The Editor - A significant win for the Leave cause is the likely result of the next election

To The Age        Nick Miller is wrong to state that the de facto UK election campaign now beginning "will centre on whether risking a no-deal Brexit" is or is not desirable ("A parting scuffle as fight for power looms", 11/9). No, it will in fact centre on whether or not the UK will leave the EU or remain a member. The short-term frustration of Boris Johnson's plans to give effect to the decision of the people in the 2016 referendum will soon be a thing of the past. Remainers have won a battle and lost the war. This is because too many Britons now realise that their traditional freedoms will be permanently lost if they do not get out of the trap. Thus, a significant win for the Leave cause is the likely result of the next election, and then the new House of Commons will facilitate and not obstruct the nation's departure.

Letter to The Editor - Defending intellectual freedom and allowing the expression of "uncomfortable views"

To The Australian        Nick Cater is correct to describe Brexit as "the pressing political issue of the day" for Britain ("Deserters help a resolute Boris", 11/9). This is because the result of the current struggle will determine whether for the foreseeable future free speech is returned to the British (by their escape from the jurisdiction of the Kafkaesque European Court of Human Rights) and whether their nation regains full sovereignty. What lover of freedom wants his or her people to be ruled by a supra-national, bureaucratic tyranny? In this context Janet Albrechtsen is right ("The prime minister cannot be in two minds about 18C") to urge our own government to be more proactive on defending intellectual freedom and allowing the expression of "uncomfortable views" so long as physical harm is not being clearly threatened.

Greens Know By Viv Forbes

Greens know that Australia could not electrify our cities, farms, mines, refineries and factories, nor power our road, rail, air and sea transport with just solar, wind, hydro and batteries. Yet green activists, their adoring media, their tax-funded academics, their subsidised green “industries” and their vote-seeking politicians keep babbling about “zero emissions”. Greens know that Australia could not feed itself without farmers, graziers and truckies using electric and diesel-powered pumps, tractors, harvesters and trucks to produce food and deliver it to the cities every day. Yet they tax and vilify diesel and make electricity more expensive and less reliable. And they lock up productive grasslands and open forests thus producing pest-ridden “parks” and “protected” vegetation infested with feral animals and invaded by inedible and fire-prone eucalypt weeds. Greens know that we need more water storage just for today’s population. Yet they continue to sterilise potential dam sites, delay new dams and waste conserved water on “environmental flows”. At the same time they boost water consumption with more tourists, games, immigrants and “refugees”. Greens know they need a crisis in power, food and water to achieve their goal of centralised UN control of all aspects of our lives. Thanks to the many fools and quislings in Federal, State and Local governments, and in tax-funded academia, education and bureaucracy, this sinister hidden agenda process is well advanced. And all of this will provide ZERO climate benefits.

Bushfire Sense and Nonsense By Viv Forbes

Bushfires are normal events in this season in tropical and sub-tropical latitudes of the southern hemisphere – in Australia, Africa and South America. Even Captain Cook noted many fires in Eastern Australia in 1770, long before the era of “global warming” hysteria. What is unusual is the number and ferocity of recent Australian fires. Destructive bushfires need three things – a big load of dry fuel, hot dry winds and a point of ignition. A big load of dry fuel, close to towns and buildings, in this season, is a sign of gross mis-management (seen most commonly in public lands). That fuel should have been raked, dozed or burnt in safer weather conditions. Hot dry winds are not unusual in this season in these latitudes – no use whinging. But how do 100+ bushfires start suddenly? Machinery occasionally starts fires but not 120 fires in a short time. There have been no lightning storms so who are the arsonists or idiots starting these fires?

Academic Talks to Plants, Plants May Talk Back By James Reed

This, I suppose, is one of the more amusing things to come from this week’s coverage of the madness of the university: academics talking to plants, and speculating about plant communication:
  https://www.thecollegefix.com/university-researcher-claims-she-can-communicate-with-plants/
  https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/26/style/can-plants-talk.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur

“A senior research fellow at Australia’s University of Sydney believes plants are intelligent and can communicate. Monica Gagliano’s personal anecdotes about our CO2-breathing fellow terrestrials include her “being rocked like a baby by the spirit of a fern” and getting advice from an oak tree … about a grant application. According to The New York Times, “plants have directly shaped [Gagliano’s] experiments and career path.” Some of her published studies conclude that “plants are, to some extent, intelligent” — they can “hear” and even interact. Gagliano realizes her claims may come off as, well, “delusional” and could harm her career. Nevertheless, she says “I want people to realize that the world is full of magic, but not as something only some people can do, or something that is outside of this world. No, it’s all here.” A group of biologists who published a recent study titled “Plants Neither Possess nor Require Consciousness” refers to Gagliano’s views as “a new wave of Romantic biology.” Scientist Heidi Appel said Gagliano “commingl[es] science and spiritual experiences.”

How Soon before the University Bubble Bursts? By James Reed

I watch every day for the crisis which will take down the universities and put them out of their misery. Here is a trend of growing failure in the US:
  https://www.thecollegefix.com/expert-predicts-25-percent-of-colleges-will-fail-over-next-two-decades/

“‘It’s going to be brutal across American higher education’ As the higher education bubble bursts, will it pop dramatically like a pricked balloon or will it fizzle out like an air mattress with a small hole? It looks like the answer has become clear — the higher ed bubble is popping, slowly but surely. Over the weekend, CBS This Morning featured a segment titled “Why more houses of higher education are shutting down.” It focused on how nearly a half-dozen colleges in the New England area have closed over the last year or so: Green Mountain College, College of St. Joseph, Southern Vermont College, Atlantic Union College and Newbury College. An education expert told CBS it’s just the tip of the iceberg. “I think 25 percent of schools will fail in the next two decades,” said Michael Horn, an expert on education trends. “They’re going to close, they’re going to merge, some will declare some form of bankruptcy to reinvent themselves. It’s going to be brutal across American higher education.” Horn cited several factors, including the fact that more families are having fewer kids, which means fewer students to educate. But he also talked about the rise of faster, cheaper and more flexible and affordable programs. Advancements in technology are certainly playing a role in how higher education is being reshaped. In February 2019 the Chronicle of Higher Education in its special report headlined “The Rise of the Mega-University” detailed how online degrees are becoming popular, especially with older and non-traditional students. “At a time when many colleges are struggling with shrinking enrollment and tighter budgets, Southern New Hampshire is thriving on a grand scale, and it’s not alone. Liberty, Grand Canyon, and Western Governors Universities, along with a few other nonprofit institutions, have built huge online enrollments and national brands in recent years by subverting many of traditional higher education’s hallmarks. Western Governors has 88,585 undergraduates, according to U.S. Education Department data, more than the top 14 universities in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings combined,” the Chronicle reported.”

Seeing the Perils of a Toxic Junk Food Diet By Mrs Vera West

This story deals with an extreme situation, but it shows what a junk food diet can do to even young people:
  https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/teen-went-partially-blind-after-eating-only-pringles-fries-ham-and-sausage-case-study-1.4574787

“A teenager in the United Kingdom described as a “fussy eater” partially lost his vision due to a strict diet of Pringles, French fries, white bread, processed ham and sausage. A case study published Monday in Annals of Internal Medicine, shows the boy suffered from nutritional optic neuropathy, a dysfunction of the optic nerve cause by a diet low in nutrients required for nerve fibres in the eye to function. The condition can lead to permanent vision loss if left untreated. Researchers at the Bristol Eye Hospital in the U.K. said the boy first visited his family doctor as a 14-year-old with a normal body mass index, but complained of tiredness. His doctor gave him some vitamin B12 injections to treat low levels of the vitamin and suggested some dietary changes.”

Volcanic Doomsday By Brian Simpson

My position on global warming; scientifically it does not matter much, as humans can adapt to it. What matters is not to get bogged down in scientific debates, which are always inconclusive, but rather counter the politics. I cannot stress that enough: oppose the politics, as Eric Butler used to say, don’t waste time playing around with the scientists, who are basically paid court jesters. Argue against globalisation even if, everything they say is taken as “true.” No, sorry, global warming as you define it shows exactly the opposite of open borders. If things are that bad, end immigration now, move to an alternative social credit financial system. See how long they talk about global warming then! Yes, they will run in reverse very quickly indeed. The real climate threat to human existence has always been cooling.

  https://www.usatoday.com/story/weather/2016/05/26/year-without-a-summer-1816-mount-tambora/84855694/

“As welcome as the fall weather can be when it finally sets in, it’s hard to imagine life without summer, yet that’s exactly what happened back in 1816 – and it could happen again. That year, spring came like it always did, but what followed was a lot closer to winter than summer. Cold temperatures set in, and the sky over many parts of the world was permanently overcast. In the U.S., England, Ireland, France, and other places, the lack of sunlight led to major crop losses and food shortages. The conditions were baffling at the time, but we now know that the chain of events was set off by the biggest volcanic eruption the world had ever seen one year earlier at Mount Tambora in Indonesia. A hundred times stronger than the eruption at Mount St. Helens in 1980, it killed at least 71,000 people. The millions of tons of ash, sulfur dioxide and dust the eruption spewed into the atmosphere caused global temperatures to fall by as much as 3 degrees. New England saw heavy snow in June, with drifts as high as 20 inches, while herbs and vegetables died out because of ice in Philadelphia. Frozen birds reportedly dropped into Canadian streets, while lambs succumbed to exposure. Food riots hit Europe. Food shortages weren’t the only problem; there were also outbreaks of diseases including a typhoid epidemic and mass migration as people sought better living conditions. The disconcerting nature of the sudden shift also led to religious revivals, and the gloomy conditions inspired works of art like the horror novel Frankenstein.

DARPA Getting Down and Dirty By Chris Knight

More on the US military industrial complex getting down and dirty on censoring free thought. If you thought that Big Tech was totalitarian, then you have not seen anything yet! These guys intend to play hard ball … hell, they play with grenades, bombs and nuclear missiles! Even the name “DARPA’ sond bad, like out of some sci fi horror genre:
  https://www.rt.com/usa/467836-darpa-deepfakes-disinfo-malicious-dissent/

“The Pentagon has unveiled an initiative to fight ‘large-scale, automated disinformation attacks’ by unearthing deep-fakes and other polarizing content – with the eventual goal of rooting out so-called ‘malicious intent’ entirely. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is seeking software capable of churning through a test set of half a million news stories, photos, and audio/video clips to target and neutralize potentially viral information before it spreads. In DARPA jargon, the aim is to “automatically detect, attribute, and characterize falsified multi-modal media to defend against large-scale, automated disinformation attacks.”  “Polarizing viral content,” however, includes inflammatory truths, and the program’s ultimate goal seems to be to stamp out dissent. The Semantic Forensics program will scan news stories and social media posts with a barrage of algorithms in the hope of identifying inconsistencies that could mark a story as fake. The desired program will not just identify a meme as inauthentic – it will identify the source of that meme, the alleged intent behind it, and predict the impact of its spread. To hear them tell it, the Pentagon just wants to even the playing field between the ‘good guys’ – the fake-hunters pursuing the cause of truth in media – and the ‘bad guys’ sowing discord one slowed-down Nancy Pelosi speech at a time. But the Pentagon’s targets aren’t limited to deepfakes, the bogeyman-of-the-month being used to justify this unprecedented military intrusion into the social media and news realm, or fake news at all. If the program is successful after four years of trials, it will be expanded to target all “malicious intent” – a possibility that should send chills down the spine of any journalist who’s ever disagreed with the establishment narrative.”

Battle of the Century: Man of Muscle vs Well … Macron By John Steele

Take the globalist elites on their own, as physical specimens, and they are revealed as puny, most being incapable of personal survival without their hired protection. It is thus highly amusing to see one of the great martial artists of the world, Renzo Gracie, wanting to fight in the octagon French president Macron. Of course, this can never happen, Macron has no death wish, and unarmed there is nothing he could do to stop a Gracie. The fight would be the quickest in history, over in seconds.
  https://www.rt.com/news/467830-brazilian-gracie-choke-macron/

“After some verbal combat between Jair Bolsonaro and Emmanuel Macron, Brazil’s tourism ambassador – MMA fighter Renzo Gracie – upped the ante, calling the French leader a “clown” and threatening to choke him. Diplomacy in 2019. To recap, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro recently earned the scorn of French President Emmanuel Macron for mocking Macron’s 66-year-old wife Brigitte on Facebook. Macron had earlier accused Bolsonaro of reneging on his commitments to the environment, as G7 leaders discussed wildfires burning in the Amazon rainforest. Bolsonaro’s comments, Macron said, were “extraordinarily rude,” and “sad.” Though the tiff seemed over, Bolsonaro was still miffed at the G7’s offer of a $22 million “colonial” aid package to fight the fires, which, he pointed out, burn every year in the Amazon and are being handled by Brazilian authorities. However, Gracie turned things up several notches over the weekend, in a diplomatic exchange that would put the trash talk of any UFC fighter or bare-knuckle boxer to shame. “The only fire going on is the fire inside Brazilian hearts and our president’s heart, you clown,” Gracie thundered in a Twitter video addressed to Macron, who he oh-so-cleverly rebranded “micron.”“Come over here, you’ll be caught by the neck, that chicken neck. You don’t fool me,” his rant continued. After the video was posted, Brazilian reporter Adriano Wilkson called Gracie up. If he was expecting a more measured statement from the newly appointed tourism ambassador, he was left disappointed. “Of course a bunch of people will be scared, they’ll think I called him chicken because I was questioning his manhood, but I’ve seen plenty of gay men who are more manly than this imbecile,” Gracie said, before reigniting the discussion on Brigitte Macron’s looks for good measure. “I’ll ask you a question. Is she ugly or pretty? Would you hook up with her?...The fact that he sleeps with a dragon doesn’t make him a fire expert. She’s ugly, man.”

Divine Retribution: California May Sink into the Sea Taking the Libtards with It! By Charles Taylor

It could well be a playing out of Old Testament wrath of God, as the forces exist to allow much of California to simply fall into the sea.
  https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2019/08/hidden-earthquake-risk-discovered-under-los-angeles/

“The Wilmington fault, as it’s called, is an elusive type of fracture. Unlike many faults, which crack Earth’s surface like an egg, the Wilmington fault is “blind,” which means it’s concealed beneath the surface, making it especially difficult to study. So while scientists have long known the fault is present—stretching 12.4 miles under southern Los Angeles into San Pedro Bay—it was presumed to have sat quiet for millions of years. Now, a new analysis of the system, published in Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America, suggests that isn’t the case. Using a cluster of clues incorporated into a three-dimensional model, the study authors posit that the fault has been active much more recently than once thought—and likely still poses a risk to people on the surface. “I hope bringing attention to it can potentially increase safety in the region,” says study author Franklin Wolfe, a doctoral candidate who is part of Harvard’s structural geology and Earth resources group. While the fault is slow moving and likely ruptures only once every 3,200 to 4,700 years, it underlies two of the United States’ busiest ports. And researchers worry that the Wilmington could link with other nearby faults to produce a temblor as strong as a magnitude 7.4.”

Attack of the Astonishing, the Amazing, Meth Zombies! By John Steele

There, I said that the long-awaited zombie apocalypse was happening, but nobody believed me, even in the gun shop!
  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7424545/Inside-Queensland-town-seen-350-cent-rise-crime.html?ico=pushly-notifcation-small

“A once quiet town in rural Queensland has become a haven for criminals - and local residents claim a devastating ice epidemic is to blame. Finch Hatton – a sleepy town in the Mackay Region – has seen a 350 per cent spike in crime in the past six years. Residents are even more on edge after a number of businesses were targeted by thieves, Finch Hatton General Store manager Ashley Jones told Daily Mail Australia. There has been an increase in the number of drug-related arrests in the Finch Hatton division since 2003, Queensland Crime Statistics show. There were 43 drug-related arrests made last year alone - the highest arrest rate in 16 years. Drug offences made up about one-third of all offences in 2018. However, Mackay Crime Prevention Unit Sergeant Nigel Dalton said the increase was due to police takin a more proactive approach rather than an increase in drug-use. 'From the drug detectives' point of view, it's business as usual.'”

It Can Happen Here Too! By Mrs Vera West

A South African doctor told a pregnant woman that the foetus is human and that abortion therefore would kill it. He gets sacked. It could happen here in Australia just as easily. But, if the doctor sang the praises of abortion, why, nothing would happen. That is business as usual:
  https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/doctor-forbidden-to-practice-medicine-after-telling-patient-a-fetus-is-a-human

“August 30, 2019 (Society for the Protection of Unborn Children) — A South African doctor is facing charges of unprofessional conduct after telling a woman scientific facts about unborn children. According to Sowetan Live, Jacques de Vos allegedly told a patient that "a foetus is a human" and claimed that abortion kills a human. After de Vos stated these scientific facts, his employment was terminated and he was prohibited from practising medicine. De Vos is now facing four charges of unprofessional conduct from the Health Professions Council of South Africa at an inquiry which has commenced this week. According to the report, de Vos allegedly "infringed" the patient's "autonomy with his anti-abortion utterances." "Based On Ideology, Not Scientific Fact" SPUC Education and Research Director, Dr Anthony McCarthy described the charges as "based on ideology, not scientific fact." Dr McCarthy said: "From a scientific point of view, the question of when a new human life begins is relatively uncontroversial. Human life begins at fertilisation as a single cell. Conception marks a change from cells produced by the father and mother, to a cell with a complete human genome that constitutes a new human being." He continued: "The unborn life in the womb is undoubtedly human, and the evidence for this is overwhelming. As the parents are human — belonging to the species Homo sapiens — and the embryo is oriented to growing up just like them, the new living being is also human. That new life is obviously both very young and very small, but is no less human than we are now. "From a scientific and medical standpoint, the facts stated by Jacques de Vos are undoubtedly true."

How Low Can it Go! University Entrance Scores Crash in the Name of Gender Diversity! By Mrs Vera West and “Jammers” Reed

Here you have two for the price of one! And, speaking of bargains, how good is it that our amazing universities are willing to lower entrance scores to allow the most sacred of all minorities, namely women, to get into the boy’s club of STEM! Fantastic! Look, we will even report this quoting from Left wing source, which has put halos over our heads:
  https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2019/aug/29/university-makes-10-point-entry-score-adjustment-for-female-applicants

“The University of Technology Sydney is trying to encourage more young women to study engineering, computing and construction degrees by adjusting year 12 entry scores for female applicants. The university has received approval from the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board to make a 10-point adjustment to the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of female students applying for those degrees for the 2020 academic year. The university hopes it will help address gender imbalances in those male-dominated industries. UTS Women in Engineering and IT director Arti Agarwal insisted the move would not lower standards. “We’re not taking in underperforming students or doing tokenism here,” she told Guardian Australia. “Nobody is getting a free pass … They all have to do all the degree requirements [and] internships.” Agarwal said the move was part of the university’s 30-year effort to improve gender equity in engineering, which includes primary school and high school outreach programs and mentoring for female engineers. “We looked at the performance of Atar and the performance of [grade point average] so a lower Atar did not mean they would get a lower GPA. A higher Atar did not mean they were best in the class,” Agarwal said. She noted a large number of engineering students gained entrance into the undergraduate degree through other pathways, which often were lower than the year 12 Atar minimum score. Agarwal said previously that, on average, females received 4-8% of UTS offers to study mechanical engineering/mechatronics. The university expects the score adjustment will increase female study offers to about 20%.

Goodbye Sweden: Letter By Richard Miller

Message from the Father to the Bride: Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major and Manly Virtue By Paul Walker

I saw the following clip mentioned here:
  https://vdare.com/articles/derb-s-august-diary-pachelbel-and-nepalese-in-japan-derb-in-china-dentists-and-dieticians-etc-11-items

The clip is surprisingly moving, which is a Japanese music advertisement based upon Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major, a simple, but haunting bitter sweet piece dating perhaps from 1680. The music was forgotten for centuries then received a revival in the 20th century, and today is popular at both weddings and funerals. It was played as I walked with my bride from the altar. Everyone learning  the piano has to tackle it at some point, and it is not hard to play; beauty in simplicity. As for the video, many people shed tears seeing it. It is characteristically Japanese, dealing with story of a father raising a daughter, with the death of his wife, and music being the common link, a metaphor for their life. The story involves the father delivering a message to his daughter at her wedding by playing Canon himself, only he was no musician, and learnt the piece especially for the wedding, as an act of will. As he struggles to play, the life story unfolds, with flashback scenes. The struggle to play is a symbol of the life struggle that he has endured, and his message by going through the ordeal of learning to play himself, is that she will need to continue the struggle that she to went through in learning to play as a child, in the road ahead of her.

Beyond 1984: Thought Crimes: Britain to Punish You Even Before the “Crime” is Committed! By Richard Miller

Whoaha! Britain is fast moving ahead of even Sweden in the totalitarian stakes. The elites no doubt have armies of eager researchers working 24/7 to come up with ever more anarchotyranny:
  https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/274810/uk-you-could-soon-be-arrested-crimes-you-havent-robert-spencer

“Philip K. Dick’s story “The Minority Report,” made into a movie in 2002 directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, takes us to a nightmarish Washington, DC, in the year 2054, where police arrest people based on crimes that psychics say they’re going to commit in the future. That dystopia could come to Britain 35 years early if the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change gets its way. According to the Guardian, the Institute has recommended that “a new law allowing for hate groups to be designated and punished before they turn to violence is needed in order to tackle far-right extremists.” “Before they turn to violence” — that is, even if there is no indication that they will ever be violent. The Guardian notes that the authors of Narratives of Hate: The Spectrum of Far-Right Worldviews in the UK, the Tony Blair Institute report calling for this, “acknowledge that the issue of linking violent and nonviolent extremism is contentious and steps would need to be taken to protect free speech.” That’s window dressing meant to deceive the public into complacency. There is no way to criminalize certain opinions while protecting the freedom of speech. The Guardian continues: “The law…would designate hate groups as organisations that spread intolerance and antipathy towards people of a different race, religion, gender or nationality, the report said.”

Letter to The Editor - They deserve to lose

To The Australian        Although I support Brexit 100%, I'm not sure it is accurate of Jennifer Oriel to state that "no one can deny that Brexit represents the will of the British people" ("Born-to-rule Remainers ignoring will of the people", 9/9). It certainly represents a majority in the 2016 referendum and may represent a majority of Britons today; but a large number of UK voters were and are against it. Thus we have the tragedy of a nation deeply divided on a very great constitutional issue. However, the first responsibility for the present chaotic situation undoubtedly rests with elements in the Remain camp including various powerful elites, through their failure to accept a majority preference. They deserve to lose. Let us hope they do, and without violence.

Letter to The Editor - Socialist fanatics and most of the Establishment

To The Age        Nicole Hemmer is wrong to stigmatise current UK politics as "a bigger farce" ("Fiascos part of a wider unravelling", 9/9). It is much more serious than that and looks like an impending tragedy, with neither side (Leave and Remain) willing to accept defeat, and the nation split almost fifty-fifty on which option should win. The blame for this, however, lies plainly with the Remain lobby, which contains starry-eyed idealists, socialist fanatics and most of the Establishment. In failing to accept the result of the 2016 referendum, these people have trashed both democracy and fair play.

Why Do Paper Cuts Hurt So Much? By Mrs Vera West

I have often wondered why slices of A4 paper cut through my skin like a razor. That is one question. The next is why such cuts hurt so much? If you have wondered about this, wonder no more:
  https://www.naturalnews.com/2019-08-10-why-do-paper-cuts-hurt-so-much.html

“Dr. Hayley Goldbach, a resident dermatologist at UCLA Health, shared that paper cuts seem more painful compared to other types of injuries because they mostly happen on your fingers. She added that while humans have nerve endings all over the body, areas with refined movement and sensation, such as your lips or the tips of your fingers, have a high density of nerve endings. These nerve endings (or nociceptors) send signals to your brain about various things that can cause a break in your skin, like extremely hot or cold temperatures or chemicals. Nociceptors are found throughout the body: in your bones, internal organs, joints, muscles, and skin. These pain receptors are crucial to how you feel and react to pain. A nociceptor’s major function is to respond to damage to the body by sending signals to your spinal cord and the brain. These complex pain signals send information about the location and intensity of the painful stimuli. This allows the human brain to fully process the pain then send communication back to block further pain signals. Why do paper cuts hurt so much? When you get a paper cut elsewhere on the body, like your back, it won’t hurt as much as a paper cut on a finger because the former has a lower density of nerve endings compared to the latter. Paper cuts also cause so much pain because you rely on your hands for various daily tasks. The constant pressure on the cut delays the healing process. The paper itself is one reason why these tiny cuts cause a lot of pain. Paper may seem smooth but if you look at it under a microscope, you will see it has jagged edges. The serrated edge of a single sheet of paper can slice your skin before you even realize it and leave a jagged cut. Since paper is made from cotton, wood pulp, and other fibers, inflammatory material can be left behind in the cut, which can make it hurt more.”
