They don't need fake climate science to justify authoritarianism; they've had the "real" thing for 75 years. Mao already did the Great Leap Forward. While Europe shuts down nuclear plants and Germans freeze in the name of climate virtue, China opens a new coal-fired power station every week. While California mandates electric cars and blacks out during heatwaves, China builds massive factories and dominates global manufacturing. They play both sides brilliantly: virtue-signal at COP summits for international brownie points and technology transfers, then go home and prioritise growth, energy security, and national power above all.

This is the ultimate tell. If climate change were truly an existential threat requiring immediate global sacrifice, China, with its massive population and coastal cities, would be leading the charge. Instead, they treat it as a geopolitical weapon. They export solar panels while burning coal like there's no tomorrow. They push the West to cripple itself while they position to dominate the post-industrial world.

We conspiracy theorists have long argued that man-made climate change is less about science and more about creating a global crisis that only global governance can solve. One world, one authority, one set of rules. China doesn't need to join the conspiracy because they're already living the end-state: a powerful, centralised, technocratic authoritarian regime that controls its population and economy with ruthless efficiency.
