Who Gave Albo Permission to Pay for Alleged Climate Change Damage? By Ken Grundy

Dear Editor

At four o’clock in the morning the COP 27 meeting in Egypt passed a resolution whereby the “Rich nations will pay for loss and damage from pollution”.

The inference being that countries like Australia have caused harm to developing nations due to our contribution to global warming by continued use of fossil fuels.

Two points arise immediately.

Firstly,  Climate Changes have occurred since the beginning of time, most of which happened well before the use of any fossil fuel.   The issue is far from ‘settled’ since Professor Plimer’s revelation that Australia sequesters carbon five times greater than our emissions.  Surely this situation deserves more consideration before committing to the COP 27 resolution!

Secondly, where did our Prime Minister gain the authority to commit to any such payment?  Our Parliament must make the decision to fund such a scheme.  If these world conferences can make decisions binding on member nations, then we already have World Government to which we must obey irrespective of the wishes of the Australian people.
