Treason or Treachery? Why Trump May Be Technically Wrong — But Morally Right — About Obama, By Charles Taylor (Florida)
When President Trump declared recently that Barack Hussein Obama is guilty of treason, it sent shockwaves across the political world. The media clutched its pearls. The establishment recoiled. And the Left did what it always does, play dumb and pretend there's nothing to see here.
But for those of us paying attention, Trump's outrage isn't just theatre. It's rooted in a growing mountain of evidence, now partly declassified, showing that the Obama White House wasn't just "concerned" about Trump's 2016 candidacy. It actively worked to undermine it through intelligence channels, disinformation campaigns, and deep-state coordination. That's not conspiracy theory: that's now a matter of public record.
So, is Trump right to call it treason? Morally? Absolutely. Legally? Not quite.
According to the U.S. Constitution, treason is levying war against the United States, or adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. It's a high bar, and for good reason. The Founders didn't want every act of political corruption or betrayal to be labelled "treason," the way kings once used the charge to eliminate rivals.
So, while Obama may have betrayed his oath, corrupted the intelligence community, and sought to sabotage a duly nominated political opponent, those actions technically fall short of the strict constitutional definition of "treason."
No guns were raised against the Republic. No foreign enemy was aided in a state of war. Even the so-called "Russia hoax," for all its sinister implications, wasn't about helping an enemy nation, but rather about falsely accusing Trump of doing so.
If the allegations are true, and many are no longer mere allegations, what Obama and his circle did fits more squarely into a different legal category: election interference, criminal conspiracy, abuse of executive power, and potentially sedition.
Obama's CIA and FBI worked off a bogus Steele Dossier, funded by the Clinton campaign, to obtain FISA warrants and spy on Trump's team.
Intelligence assessments were massaged to fit a political narrative, not to defend the Republic, but to delegitimise the incoming President.
The media was weaponised in tandem with leaks and planted stories, shaping a years-long disinformation campaign that crippled a presidency before it even began.
If any foreign nation did this to another, we'd call it election meddling. If a dictator did it to a challenger, we'd call it tyranny. But because it was done in D.C., by polished Leftist Ivy Leaguers in suits, we're told it's just "politics."
Trump calls it "treason" not because he's confused about the legal definition, but because he understands what the word symbolises, betrayal at the highest level, from the man whose job it was to peacefully transfer power.
It wasn't just bureaucratic overreach. It was a deliberate operation to stop Trump, nullify the 2016 vote, and deceive the American people. If that's not treachery, what is?
Whether you call it treason, subversion, or just good old-fashioned deep-state corruption, the outcome is the same: Obama interfered in an American election, and tried to rig the result.
Yes, treason is a specific legal term. And no, Obama probably won't face a treason trial. But Trump's larger point stands: the former President orchestrated a silent coup using the tools of the federal government. That's not just unethical. That's criminal.
So let the media howl. Let the DOJ drag its feet. Let the Democrats cry foul. But history will remember who really undermined democracy. And it wasn't Donald J. Trump.

"Trump says Barack Hussein Obama is GUILTY of TREASON and tried to steal the election.
Trump's remarks follow new declassified documents that he says prove Obama personally ordered an intelligence assessment with the intent to create a Russia-collusion narrative hoax.
"If you look at those papers, they have him STONE COLD," Trump said. "And it was President Obama."
He went on to declare, "It wasn't lots of people all over the place. It was them, too, but the leader of the gang was President Obama. Barack Hussein Obama—have you heard of him?"
Then he dropped the hammer: "He's GUILTY. It's not a question."
Calling the plot "TREASON," Trump said, "They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody has ever even imagined, even in other countries."
Trump is accusing a former president of masterminding an act of TREASON. This has to be the biggest political accusation in American history.
