There Walks the Plague Doctor By Peter West

In my deep dark nightmares, I see him, the strange man with the leather mask, bird-like beak, the plague doctor, haunting the inner canyons of my mind. Is this a racial memory from the distant past, or has, with the present new black death, or so we are led to believe, the plague doctor come from the darkness to  walk the streets once more, crossing the abyss between life and death?

“Police are looking for someone who has been going for their daily walks while dressed as a 17th century plague doctor during the coronavirus lockdown. People in Norwich have spotted the person wearing a long black cloak, hat and pointed beak-like mask. Many people in the community are worried the outfit will frighten children and have reported the plague doctor to the police. Jade Gosbell, who saw the walker, said: 'It was like 20 degrees, he was wearing a full black suit, it just looked ridiculous.' 'It's clearly for attention or something like that, because normal people just wouldn't do that.' Jade said she was worried her mum, who has a phobia of masks, would bump into the person in costume. 'Kids would be frightened, my mum would be frightened, however some people really don't think it's that deep, they just think that he's having a laugh, he's just trying to find something to do with himself during isolation and lockdown,' she said. Norfolk Police said that they were aware of the individual and that they would like to identify them to 'provide words of advice about the implications of his actions'. Norfolk is not the only area that has reported these sightings. MailOnline reader Cecile Poupard sent this picture of a similarly-clad individual in Crouch End in north London taken last Thursday.      The normies are frightened by the man in black, but not apparently by the loss of their freedom and life essence. Think of the children! Yes, but what about the economic future? Must this person be a prankster? That would be true if there was no pandemic, but the all-knowing authorities say that there is, that it is deadly, and that people need to go to their rooms. Also, there is no cure, yet. So, we are back to the Dark ages. So, what is wrong with dressing for the occasion? With the collapse of civilisation, expect to see more of things like this, with blasts from the past. Meanwhile, across the lake, Americans who once had jobs and never had handouts in their lives, are lining up for food handouts, just like in the Great Depression, because that is what is around the corner:

“Hundreds of Americans lined up to access much-needed food handouts in Los Angeles and Prospect, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. Masses of cars waited in line for the drive-thru food giveaway in Pico Rivera, California, as volunteers sporting face masks, gloves and high-vis jackets helped dish out supplies. Over in Prospect, vehicles were seen snaking through the Big Butler Fairgrounds. It comes as millions of people across America lose their jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic and households have been thrown into turmoil. The City of Angels' reputation for being one of the wealthiest parts of the US - home to the Hollywood elite - appears to be a distant memory, as residents waited to access food to be able to feed their families. Photos revealed cars lining up along the edge of deserted basketball courts and an empty football field at the shuttered Ruben Salazar High School.”

It is only the  beginning, as Deb Conway once sung:

Better to sing, then to cry.
