The Woke Mind Virus; The Cancer Invading Western Rationality
John Leake's Mind Viruses (2026), names the thing Elon Musk keeps pointing at and that institutions keep calling compassion. An idea behaves like an infection when it spreads faster than evidence, punishes immunity, and treats the host's own senses as the disease. The woke regime is the current carrier. Its obsessions are not a list of causes. They are one method: invent a crisis, sacralise a class of victims, criminalise description, and bill the public for the cure.
Sex is the cleanest specimen because it used to be the least arguable fact in the room. Two sexes, fixed in gametes, visible without a seminar. The regime replaced that with "gender," a grammar word promoted into a metaphysics. You may not only indulge a private fantasy. You must speak as if the fantasy rearranged the body. Refuse, and you are the aggressor. That inversion is the payload. A society that will say a man is a woman on command will say anything else on command. Race tourism would follow the same logic and is forbidden only because the coalition still needs racial grievance as property. Ideology, not consistency, draws the line.
Children were supposed to be off-limits. Doctors once treated adolescence as unstable identity, not a surgical window. That restraint died when the adult market proved too small and the insurance money arrived. After the Affordable Care Act expanded coverage, clinics reported four- and five-fold jumps in minors; UCSF logged a thirteen-fold rise in mastectomies on girls aged fourteen to seventeen. A Vanderbilt clinician, caught on a staff tape, called bottom surgery a "huge money maker." Hirschfeld was doing versions of this in Weimar. The novelty is scale, paediatric targeting, and a state that pays. Credulity in a child is not an identity. It is why childhood exists. Using it is not care. It is a raid on people who cannot yet give adult consent.
The same script ran through Covid. A threat was declared total. The authorised product became a sacrament. Doubt became contagion. Constitutional limits became selfishness. Trillions moved. When transmission continued, the failure was blamed on the unconverted, not the model. Climate, race liturgy, and several foreign crusades use the same poles: fear, official solution, heresy laws for people who notice the solution does not work. Jung warned about wish-fantasies becoming psychic epidemics. Bezmenov called it changing the perception of reality until a people cannot defend themselves. Leake's point is that the West has been running that experiment in public, on a loop, since at least 2001.
What makes the woke strain specifically malignant is the moral blackmail attached to language. You are not asked to be kind to a distressed person. You are asked to falsify the world so the distress can be called truth. Lived experience outranks the karyotype. Safety outranks the study. Harm outranks the sentence. Once those swaps are accepted in the clinic and the classroom, they migrate to HR, then to the statute book, then to the street, where a crowd decides which books may burn and which jokes are a public-order offence.
Profit and piety travel together. Hospitals found a revenue stream. Universities found a sacred minority. Parties found a loyalty test. Platforms found a moderation category. Each has a reason to keep the infection circulating. None has a reason to admit that a rapid-onset social contagion among teenage girls looks like an epidemic of fashion and psychiatric comorbidity, not a sudden discovery of a hidden third sex.
A sane country does not need a new theology to stop this. It needs the old one: reality first, children protected, medicine as treatment of disease rather than affirmation of a slogan, speech as description rather than liturgy. Calling the obsession insane will hurt people in its grip. That is not an argument against the word. It is the cost of refusing to join them. The first immunity is still the sentence the regime cannot allow: some claims are false, and repeating them does not make one good. It makes you a vector.
