The Universities of the West are Just Big Kindergartens for Wokeness! By James Reed

I thought about the issue of the infantisation of the universities when reading about how in the US many liberal universities were supply counselling, and various comfort things, like soft toys, milk and cookies, to liberal students traumatised by Trump winning the US election. Some of this occurred in Australian universities as well, but it being exam time, here was much less. There were just the socialist students frothing at the mouth as they do so well. At luchtime.

This infantisation is part of a bigger trend, including speech codes and censorship of anything which challenges the woke liberal agenda. And this is not a new idea, there are even academic papers discussing various aspects of this, from Researchgate.net, among other sources, linked below.

Frank Furedi, writing on this issue noted: "that universities often socialize students into values that are "divergent from those of their family." One of the ways that this objective is accomplished is by encouraging students to distance themselves from "out-dated traditional language" and customary forms of behavior. In other words, the university is a place of re-education. Family lore must be discarded: https://www.firstthings.com/article/2018/02/no-patrimony.

The universities are places for the brainwashing of youth, so keeping the youth in an infant state of mind is a necessary part of the agenda. If that is not a good reason for closing these places down and radically rethinking higher education, I don't know what is.
