While there was news a few weeks back of gain-of-function genetic engineering research to make bird flu, H5N1, more deadly via easy transmission to humans, being done jointly by the US and communist China, news has emerged now of US research on exactly this. The Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory (SEPRL) in Athens, Georgia, operated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), aims to enhance the pathogenicity or transmissibility of the virus, supposedly because this is the direction the researchers think the virus will evolve. But that is seldom the case and the real and present danger, as seen by the Covid-19 lab leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology, is an escape of the very virus itself, either accidentally or by deliberate release.
Are there alternative ways of anticipating viral development without these dangers? One would think with all the energy put into climate modelling, and the hype given to AI advances, that use of computer models would be the way to go, unless, of course the agenda was depopulation all along.
