The Refutation of Postmodernism, By James Reed

Behind the positions of political correctness and now called woke, is the philosophy of postmodernism. The philosophical arguments of this school of destructive thought have aided the "deconstruction" of racial categories, and then gender, where for the standard academics, it is no longer possible to say what a woman is, for example. This clearly indicates a major conceptual flaw in the position, as it is fully counter to the wisdom of all past human history, and of other cultures, such as African tribes people, to South American jungle dwellers. Yet, in the West, including Australian universities, in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, postmodernism in its various forms, including "queer" studies, feminism, and cultural studies, as well as sociology and psychology, dominates thought, in the soft-headed fields. And it is moving into STEM (science), like a cancer.

Postmodernism holds that here is no general "narrative," such as science, that can adjudicate thought, so relativism holds, there is no objective truth. Truth then is socially relative. Western scientific civilisation is no closer to the truth than the Aboriginal Dreamtime. Backing all this up is power politics, where those who dissent about issues like transgenderism, face being cancelled, or worse, murdered by fanatics, as has occurred in the Netherlands.

The philosophical refutation of postmodernist relativism is that it is self-refuting and undermining. The position of postmodernism is just another culturally relative position, with nothing to make it epistemologically special. Hence, those who disagree, such as Christians, can simply reject it in their own terms, and there is no sound case in reply. Of course, this woke was never about philosophy, but power politics and social control and this where the power of woke comes from. Postmodernism is the naked expression of the political power of the Left.
