The Peace Delusion: Why the World is Sleepwalking into Nuclear War, By Richard Miller (Londonistan)

Listen closely to Zelensky's Independence Day speech and you'll hear something chilling. Behind the soaring talk of freedom and unity was not a call for peace but an ultimatum: all of Donetsk, all of Luhansk, and all of Crimea must return to Ukraine. In plain language, that means war without end. Russia will never surrender those territories voluntarily, which makes "peace" nothing more than a code word for total victory achieved through force.

That demand locks Ukraine and Russia into a fight to the death. Kyiv cannot win it alone, so the inevitable conclusion is obvious: NATO will be dragged in. Every so-called ceasefire becomes nothing more than an intermission, a chance to rearm and reset before the next act of carnage begins. Everyone knows it: Moscow, Kyiv, Washington, Brussels. And yet the West pretends otherwise, soothing itself with the fantasy that negotiations are still possible.

But Kyiv knows exactly what it's doing. After burying hundreds of thousands, it has no illusions. Its only path to "victory" is to lure NATO into the battlefield. That's why Ukraine is willing to take insane risks, like striking a Russian nuclear plant. The gambit is brutal but clear: force Moscow into an overreaction, raise the stakes, and compel the West to escalate.

So far, Putin has shown restraint that borders on the miraculous. Reports say he even vetoed a strike on Zelensky's office in Kyiv. But restraint is not endless. Back Russia into a corner, humiliate it long enough, and eventually the Kremlin will respond in ways that make today's horrors look tame. And when that line is crossed, the war will not remain in Ukraine. It will spread everywhere.

The logic is merciless: Ukraine refuses compromise, Russia refuses surrender. That leaves only one path forward, escalation. The last time Europe played this game, it gave us two world wars. The difference now is that the table is littered with nuclear weapons. The guns are already cocked. All it takes is one slip of the finger.

Meanwhile, the Middle East is igniting. Israel is preparing for what it openly calls a defining war in Gaza, while striking deeper into Yemen. Iran waits in the wings. Everywhere you look, brushfires are joining into a global blaze.

The truth no leader will admit is that the post-Cold War illusion of peace is dead. The guardrails are gone, the taboo against nuclear use is eroding, and humanity is inching closer to the abyss with every passing month. The first atomic strike since 1945 is no longer unthinkable, it is almost inevitable.

And when that day comes, there will be no going back.
