     Few of us care about synagogues being built: how do they harm us? And, few of us would oppose the construction of a new synagogue, especially in iconic Jewish areas such as Bondi. It is simply part of Australian culture. Yet, as incredible as it sounds, the construction of a new synagogue has been stopped, not because of Nazi protests, but because of the Islamic terrorism threat. “A LOCAL council has banned the construction of a synagogue in Bondi because it could be a terrorist target, in a shock move that religious leaders say has caved in to Islamic extremism and created a dangerous precedent.  The decision, which has rocked the longstanding Jewish community in the iconic suburb, was upheld in court this week as the nation reeled from the alleged airline terror threat and debate raged over increased security measures at airports and other public places.

The Land and Environment Court backed the decision by Waverley Council to prohibit the construction of the synagogue in Wellington St, Bondi — just a few hundred metres from Australia’s most famous beach — because it was too much of a security risk for users and local residents.
Jewish leaders are shocked the decision appears to suggest they cannot freely practice their religion because they are the target of hate by Islamist extremists — and that the council has used their own risk assessment of the threat posed by IS against it.
The head of the local Jewish community said the council and the court had effectively stifled freedom of religion and rewarded terrorism.

“The decision is unprecedented,” Rabbi Yehoram Ulman told news.com.au.
“Its implications are enormous. It basically implies that no Jewish organisation should be allowed to exist in residential areas. It stands to stifle Jewish existence and activity in Sydney and indeed, by creating a precedent, the whole of Australia, and by extension rewarding terrorism.”

     All of the points made by the Jewish community leaders are spot on. It is true that Islamic terrorism in Australia does pose a severe threat to the Jewish community, but this move directly undermines the very freedoms which are being placed at risk, as has been observed in strong terms by Jewish leaders:

“NSW Jewish Board of Deputies chief executive Vic Alhadeff told news.com.au he had never heard of any other religious group being denied a place of worship just because they were targeted by outside extremists and that the move was a dangerous precedent.
“It’s a very sad day for Australia if an established community, which needs a house of worship, is refused permission to build it because of fear that others may pose a threat,” he said.
“This simply shows how we’re all losing our freedoms. Those who want us to be afraid are winning, and this ill-conceived judgment represents a dangerous precedent.”

     Given all of these sound comments, especially about the loss of freedoms, it is time for people to make a serious assessment of the impact of mass immigration, whatever its short-term economic merits may be. National security issues now need to be given first priority, or Australia simply allows in more terrorists (who come with non-discriminatory immigration), including sleepers (one’s not identified by the border protection net), thus ultimately allowing even more home-grown terrorists to flourish. This is a problem produced by a liberal immigration program, as Europe is recognising:

“There have been 142 Islamist plots, targeting 15 different European countries, over a 29-month period, resulting in over 1,000 casualties and 300 deaths. Adult men carry out most plots; however, females and teenagers are increasingly involved. Terrorists most commonly target civilians. Explosives are the most popular mode of attack, followed by edged weapons. Edged weapon attacks have proven very hard to stop and attacks involving explosives have proven especially lethal. Plots using vehicles as the mode of attack have proven, unfortunately, to be both. While ISIS is the organization that poses the clearest threat, most of the plotters in Europe are not actually in contact with ISIS and, if they are, much of that contact is increasingly electronic. Most have no terrorist training or combat experience, but of those who do, most received it in Syria. Refugees and asylum seekers planned attacks in nine separate countries. However, these types of plots mainly centered on Germany.”

     Surely, any rational being would see an immigration problem here. Only those who seek to use immigration as a weapon, or who are ideologically deluded would think that all is well, as business should continue as usual.

     The West has not learnt the immigration lessons from the fall of the Roman empire, and is set to allow history to repeat itself once again:
