The Combatting Misinformation and Disinformation Bill Passes the Senate: Fighting Back! By James Reed

 The Albo government's Combating Misinformation and Disinformation Bill has passed in the House of Representatives and now goes to the Senate. There was never any doubt of the Bill not getting through the lower House, but it can still be stopped in the Senate with a concentrated public protest. Contact Senators and tell them that you do not support this Bill, as it is a direct attack upon internet freedoms.

As well you can remind them that we are in a new political reality now. The Albo government has been at war with Elon Musk's X, with there being one court case already over the stabbing footage of the priest. Musk has claimed that Australia is attempting to censor the internet. Before he was simply a powerful businessman. But now he has a direct voice to the president elect of the United States, Donald Trump. Trump will respond with aggression against Australia if Musk convinces him that US freedoms are being attacked by Australia. Trade sanctions is a Trump specialty. Tell the Senators, including the Greens that we are going to be in deep water if this Bill, becomes an Act and is used against X.

This is no longer just about suppressing Aussies; the big players will get involved and cause Australia economic pain. Let us not go there. You don't need to thank me for the tip Albo.
