Taxing the Farts and Burps of Cows: Denmark, By Richard Miller (Europe)

The climate change alarmist madness intensifies here in Europe. First it was the Netherlands moving to cancel the bulk of its farms, to supposedly aid in achieving the mythical zero net of carbon emissions. Now Denmark is in on the madness. There are five times as many cows and pigs in Denmark than people, so agriculture is a major source of carbon emissions. The Danish parliament has now passed a climate change tax on livestock. Starting in 2030, the Denmark government will charge farmers 300 Danish kroner (around $43) for every ton of carbon dioxide equivalent that their operations produce, and by 2035, the tax will more than double to 750 kroner ($106). The idea is to raise the price of meat, making it first a luxury item for the ordinary people, then as farms go bankrupt and are not replaced, people will eat the bugs, or starve, or both.
