South Australia Made the International News! For Being Dopey By James Reed
First, the same sex marriage result, now this:

“Whoever handles Elon Musk’s public relations deserves a medal.
The slippery snake oil salesman and rent-seeker extraordinaire has been down to South Australia – now reduced, pretty much, to a third world state under its disastrous left-wing administration – and conned the hapless locals out of $50 million to build them an all-but-useless giant battery to make up for the energy they have lost by blowing up their coal-fired power station and relying on wind power instead.
And how are the lickspittle media reporting this outrageous scam?”
Remember, these hard words are from the Americans, not me.
You know the answer to their question though; the media fell over themselves, just as they always have, as seen in the 1990s with the MFP disaster: who remembers that? And, as we also know, some giant solar battery is not going to solve South Australia’ energy problems:

Most of Australia’s electricity comes from coal (73 percent), natural gas, which South Australia is dependent upon, 14 percent, while wind contributes 3 percent, and solar 6 percent. To learn more, get the excellent DVD of the 2017 League National Weekend, with an electric talk by Dr Alan Moran, “Why is Our Electricity So Expensive”?
South Australia has just wasted more money on another dopey project. They must have a death wish: MFP, State Bank disaster etc. etc. We laugh at the poor South Australians, especially we state-chauvinist Victorians, but, increasingly, the rest of the world is coming to regard Australia as a joke. If I was not such a hardened man, I would cry tears of sorrow and loss.
Anyway, it may not matter in the long-run since:
“It’s only a matter of time before artificial intelligence finds superiority over humans. As machines become more efficient at computing data and navigating algorithms, as they learn from their experiences and make complex decisions, they will inevitably challenge human thinking and human way of life. But will the advancement of AI lead to the extermination of the human race?
If the technology is used for war purposes, the possibility is high that AI becomes a threat. With super weapons already implementing AI technology, the risks are there. Inventor Elon Musk believes there is a 95 percent chance that artificial intelligence will threaten the survival of human populations. In a presentation to Neuralink employees, Musk said artificial intelligence is a “fundamental risk to the existence of human civilization.” Musk advocates very seriously that AI be proactively regulated for safety and that governments catch up on the concepts of AI before the technology overwhelms humans. His firm Neuralink is currently working on an implantable technology that connects the brain directly to computer interfaces.”
