PM Albanese does Not Know What He is Talking about Re Roe v. Wade By Mrs Vera West

The Australian prime minister has waded into the Roe v. Wade controversy, as Laborites will do, even thought this is a different country.  His basic point is that the SCOTUS decision violates women’s rights, even though the real question is the lkegal justification of such rights. Dobbs rejects a constitutional right to abortion, just like there is no constitutional right to abortion in Australia, but was decided by parliament. It is as simple as that; if American states want abortion, then vote for it, as in a democracy. It is not really a failure of comprehension on the PM’s part, but simply following the woke herd. Even pro-abortion people could support Dobbs, maintaining that Roe v. Wade was a flawed foundation. Such is the quality of intellectual debate now.

“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has waded into the US abortion furore saying the decision which allows the practice to be banned was a 'setback for women' that 'caused enormous distress'.

Mr Albanese, who was flying to Spain to attend a NATO conference, told ABC radio the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the Roe v Wade ruling guaranteeing abortion freedoms transgressed women's rights

'Well, people are entitled to their own views, but not to impose their views on women for whom this is a deeply personal decision,' Mr Albanese said.

'That is, in my view, one for an individual woman to make based upon their own circumstances, including the health implications.

This decision has caused enormous distress.'

Abortion is legal in all Australian states and territories, albeit with different term limits.

The decision on Saturday to overturn the landmark 1972 ruling that provided a constitutional right to abortion has led to furious protests across America as 26 states move to ban or restrict abortions.

Mr Albanese said the ruling was 'a setback for women and their right to control their own bodies and their lives in the United States'.

'It is a good thing that in Australia, this is not a matter for partisan political debate,' he said.”
