Australians should be interested in the East Palestine, Ohio toxic cloud rail disaster, as it is an alarming illustration of how the system works. It could happen in Australia too, which also transports these sorts of dangerous chemicals by rail, and right through capital cities. Hopefully, the Australian authorities would not be burning any spilled chemicals to create an even larger disaster, if the unfortunate happens.

 

Worse yet, the authorities here have said that the water in the disaster area is safe to drink. Meanwhile numerous tweets report people’s pets dying. There are videos of people stirring creeks with long sticks and observing the coloured patterns of chemicals coming to the surface. It is simply shocking, and some of my friends are in the thick of it. How can they abandon their homes and everything they have worked for? And people have started coughing up blood. We can expect people to be dying soon. Meanwhile Joe Biden has not visited the site, and has instead gone to his true love, the Ukraine, land of US Democrat corruption, and bioweapons.

“It’s looking like the Biden regime is already engaged in cover-up mode following the massive railway disaster earlier this month in eastern Ohio, where tons of toxic chemicals were spilled and then burned.

On Feb. 3, a Norfolk Southern train derailed, and some 50 chemical-carrying railcars derailed, with many splitting open and catching fire. Already, residents of East Palestine have reported oily residues evident in local waterways where they get their tap water as well as suffering physical signs and symptoms, even though federal and state officials are telling them ‘everything is okay.’

In addition, according to many residents, the sounds of wildlife in the area — chittering of squirrels and the tweeting chirps of birds — are also missing, the UK’s Daily Mail reported.

Within 24 hours of the February 3 disaster, a massive, acrid black cloud emanating from the fiery wreck swept over the property of Nathan and Kelly Izotic, carried by a westerly wind. Adding to the personal tragedy for the couple, the water that nourishes the winding creek near their home is sourced from a supply that has been directly contaminated by the catastrophe.

The environmental and potentially life-threatening aftermath of the Norfolk Southern rail company’s ‘chemical bomb’ derailment has impacted the couple on two fronts. They have suffered from painful sickness and coughed up blood since the incident, and now fear the possibility of a cancer diagnosis in the future due to the presence of two known carcinogenic chemicals in the fiery cloud produced by the crash. The couple’s recently purchased 15-acre property is now facing an environmental disaster. The wildlife has disappeared, and they worry that it may never return, the outlet reports.

“We had red and gray squirrels through this property, constantly chitter-chattering to each other. It was pretty loud,” Kelly, a chemical lab tech, told the outlet. “And now there are none. They’ve gone completely because of the toxicity all around them right here. There’s no small birds either. They were everywhere, but they’ve taken off. That must tell you something.”

“Within 24 hours we had burning noses, burning lips, chest congestion, sore throats and headaches, big, big headaches,” Kelly, 45, continued. “My German Shepherd dog Diesel kept throwing up and was lethargic.”

“The thick cloud was billowing right over our house for the two days we stayed,” Nathan, 29, an energy industry worker, told the outlet. “The day after the derailment I started having symptoms, almost like Covid symptoms, like someone was pushing down on my chest. I had very strong pressure. Throughout the day it started getting severe. I had a very bad cough, very bad feeling in my lungs and throat. And the following day, it got worse. I had burning on my lips, nose, and eyes and a severe cough.”

The couple rapidly packed up their belongings and departed to another property located near the border between Pennsylvania and New York.

“I woke up about 6am after the night we evacuated and I was on the verge of calling the ER. I was coughing up blood,” Nathan continued, the Daily Mail noted. “All I could think of was to strip down and cool myself off and go outside to get some relief. I was hot all over. I was very tired. It was until Thursday or Friday that week until I started to feel some relief. Coming back here now though, my lips are starting to get tingly again, and I feel a scratch in my throat and I’m getting headaches.”

Kelly told the outlet as well: “We were at the doctor yesterday, and they said they don’t even have a toxicology test to be able to test us because they still don’t know what they are dealing with. So they can’t even test us – all they can do is treat symptoms. It’s terrifying.””

“It has been two weeks since the infamous Norfolk Southern freight train carrying noxious chemicals through East Palestine, Ohio, derailed and blew up in a “controlled explosion.” And we are still no closer, despite promises from the company, to learning the extent of the deadly chemical release.

Area residents are growing restless without these answers, and some of them have joined a class-action lawsuit claiming the exposure they have already incurred is causing them to develop “DNA mutations.”

The long-term health implications of exposure to vinyl chloride, one of the chemicals being hauled by the train, are serious and many. They include hepatic angiosarcoma, a rare form of liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, another form of liver cancer, various brain and lung cancers, lymphoma, and leukemia.

There were other chemicals on that train, though, that Norfolk is refusing to disclose. Despite a promise from CEO Alan Shaw that the company “will not walk away” from East Palestine, area residents, including Mayor Trent Conaway, are fuming over the lack of honesty coming from Norfolk.

Norfolk Southern claims its crews are on the ground supporting East Palestine, but residents say this is a lie

Residents as far away as Pittsburgh say they are already suffering short-term health impacts from the disaster. They worry about the long-term health impacts that have yet to manifest, and want Norfolk to be held accountable for them.

“My simple answer is that we are here and will stay here for as long as it takes to ensure your safety and to help East Palestine recover and thrive,” Shaw wrote in a letter to those in the vicinity of the wreck and explosion.

“Our work is underway. Crews are cleaning the site thoroughly, responsibly, and safely … And we have established a $1 million community support fund as a down payment on our commitment to help rebuild.”

None of this appears to be true, however, as residents say Norfolk is not out on the ground supporting them as Shaw claims.

“They’re not out here supporting,” said East Palestine resident Kathy Dyke during the meeting. “For three days, we didn’t even know what was on the train.”

“I have three grandbabies. Are they going to grow up here in five years and have cancer? So those are all factors that play on my mind.”

So far, there are at least five class-action negligence lawsuits that have been filed by area residents and business owners who were impacted by the fiery inferno and the smoke and chemical plumes it released.

“Residents exposed to vinyl chloride may already be undergoing DNA mutations that could linger for years or even decades before manifesting as terrible and deadly cancers,” said attorney John Morgan in a statement.

“The lawsuit alleges that Norfolk Southern made it worse by essentially blasting the town with chemicals as they focused on restoring train service and protecting their shareholders.”

“I’m not sure Norfolk Southern could have come up with a worse plan to address this disaster.””
