Letter to The Editor - We do not want to see Australia follow the example of Germany by imprisoning honourable intellectuals

To The Age         In answer to Henry Herzog (17/3) some important political matters are hardly mentioned, let alone discussed, in our major political forums. Obviously there is an unannounced censorship involved. Meanwhile there are plenty of examples on record of persons and groups seeking to further restrict free speech, such as by means of no-platforming events in universities or calls to extend by legislation the curbs on free speech already imposed by section 18C of the Racial Hatred Act. We do not want to see Australia follow the example of Germany by imprisoning honourable intellectuals merely for expressing dissident views which clandestine interests unjustifiably want silenced and falsely label 'hate speech'.
