Letter to The Editor - Coalition will aim to ensure that security bills are paid by troublemakers
To The Age The Coalition will start picking up votes fast if they take the line of federal education minister Dan Tehan ("Uni free-speech rules 'worth considering'", 19/9). Maintaining full freedom of speech in universities is a vital principle for a sane society. Arguments that certain controversial speakers "should be denied a platform" are immoral rubbish masquerading as morality. Scott Morrison should confirm that, if re-elected, the Coalition will aim to ensure that security bills are paid by troublemakers and not innocent speakers.
