Internet Censorship Via Search Engines, By James Reed

I received an email from LifeNews.com. There was story I wanted to find for another blogger, "Kamala Harris Wants to Pack the Supreme Court With Radical Leftists." I put this in quote marks into Google, and found … nothing, or at least not what I wanted. Then I added to the search "LifeNews.com, and got the article. It should have come up from a title search; Left-wing material does. I have found that almost all material from the Right, including the Alor.org blog, is being censored by the search engines. One can get the material with some effort, but many people would assume that it is not available. And give up at first base instead of base 5.

Likewise, there is a controversy over Google's Autocomplete function not showing results for Donald Trump when one types in "attempted assassination of …". It has been claimed, and rightly so, that this is electoral interference: https://nypost.com/2024/07/28/us-news/google-omitting-trump-assassination-from-autocomplete-feature/.

However, it gets worse. As noted by El Gato Malo (The Bad Cat blogger), the same thing can be seen in other search engines including DuckDuck Go, Luxxle and Brave. I tried Brave first and did find the mention of Trump. But this was only after the Bad Cat article appeared. DuckDuck Go did not turn it up. And likewise, for Luxxle. So, something is going on here.
