Should Australia be Shut Down? Will Australia be Shut Down? By Brian Simpson

Things are hotting up in the fear/paranoia stakes regarding the coronavirus, with calls from the Grattan Institute’s chief executive John Daley, to shut down schools and universities to attempt to stem the advance of Covid-19. Well, shut down the universities … it looks like James Reed will get his wish! After all, Trump has just shut down America to Europe:

“Australia has been urged to close its borders, shut down schools and universities and cancel mass events or risk facing a 'complete and utter coronavirus epidemic'. Grattan Institute's chief executive John Daley called for Scott Morrison to follow the lead of Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, which have introduced radical social distancing measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. Mr Daley said while some countries' approaches to the outbreak have impacted their economies, they had been successful in reducing virus cases. 'One option is that we can introduce very significant social distancing now and also potentially close the airports to foreign travellers. The consequence of that would be you would probably see the number of cases in Australia drop to zero,' he told The Australian. 'The second option is that you keep doing what we are doing at the moment. At some point it is likely that we will start to see significantly more person-to-person transmission in Australia.' Mr Daley warned if Australia keeps up its 'non-stringent measures like Italy', our cases would climb 'pretty quickly' and the fatality rate would skyrocket. Dr Muhammad Mohsin, who runs a number of GP clinics, called for all public events, schools, businesses, childcare centres and universities to be shut down for a month. 'This is the only way we can avoid a complete and utter epidemic in Australia. Otherwise, the virus will spread and it will devastate our country and our economy. We must do it before winter arrives. This is absolutely critical,' he said.

CORONAVIRUS CASES IN AUSTRALIA: 141
New South Wales: 77
Victoria: 22
Queensland: 20
South Australia: 9
Western Australia: 9
Tasmania: 3
Northern Territory: 1
TOTAL CASES:  141
DEAD: 3

Dr Mohsin said the only way to stop the spread of coronavirus is for workers and students to work and study from home. A number of schools in NSW and Melbourne have temporarily closed because of the coronavirus, but Education Minister Dan Tehan doesn't expect state-wide closures. Mr Tehan said it would be more likely for schools in particular areas to close, with the government relying on expert medical advice. Universities are scaling back their course offerings or providing more online tuition. But Southern Cross University has gone further, temporarily closing its Gold Coast and Lismore campuses on Wednesday after a staff member visiting from the Philippines tested positive to the virus. The stark warnings come as Australia's coronavirus cases jump to 129 - surpassing 100 cases just 24 hours earlier.”

This great close down of the universities has been going on in the United States, with various posh universities shutting their gates, and oh, some of the students don’t like it, so out come the boys in blue with thick clubs to thump their brains in, or out, or whatever:

“At least 1,000 students at the University of Dayton broke out in a riot after being told to leave campus over the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak. The crowd became so violent that police wore riot gear when responding to the chaos. According to a local news report, students at the University of Dayton rioted at the center of campus on Tuesday evening after they were told that they would have to leave campus as a precaution against the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus. Local police officers were forced to equip riot gear when responding to the student protest. A video from the riot posted to Twitter shows students lining a small residential street as riot police sprayed tear gas.”

Yes, best for the little darlings to riot now while they still have the strength. After they get coronavirus from the local Leftoids on campus, they may not be able to do much more rioting!

Then, we have things right out of the zombie apocalypse movies, like 28 Weeks Later (2007), with lock down of towns, and even dogs being shot by the national guard, whom, I suppose, need something to shoot, having all of those bullets just lying around after vast government buy ups of billions of rounds, some years back:

“New York's governor has announced that troops will be sent into a town not far from Manhattan in an attempt to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The National Guard will deliver food to some individuals told to isolate in New Rochelle. Though the city is not under quarantine, a one-mile (1.6km) "containment zone" will be enforced. The area has seen "the largest cluster" of US cases, Andrew Cuomo said as he announced the measures on Tuesday. There are more than 1,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US so far. New York state has 173 active cases, the most in the US, and 108 of them are in Westchester County where New Rochelle is located.”

     And:

“The global death rate for concluded cases has now reached 6%, with 94% surviving. This rate of 6% is triple what most pundits have been claiming (2%), and it’s 60 times higher than the death rate of the seasonal flu (0.1%). Yet there are still people running around saying, “this is no worse than the flu.” Those people are, frankly, kinda stupid. Try to keep your distance from them, as they are quite likely to get infected (and maybe even die) since they will take no precautions to protect themselves (and will probably put others at risk with their own actions, too). Notice, too, that the global increase in infections and deaths is now resuming a rapid quadratic rise after a brief resting period that mostly stemmed from China fudging its own numbers. The bottom line? It’s bad. It’s way worse than anything I’ve reported or projected. And just because the left-wing media is hyping it up doesn’t mean the pandemic isn’t real. Don’t make the mistake of refusing to think for yourself. Don’t follow the Trump herd on this issue, or you’ll follow them right off a cliff into the Abyss of Stupidity. Think for yourself. Take precautions and get prepared. Trump may quite literally get infected and die before the election ever takes place. Half the members of Congress are old enough to be highly susceptible to this virus, after all, and there are even new reports that say the virus causes neurological damage. Imagine the entire Congress turned into a chamber of rambling Joe Bidens who threaten to seize your “AR-14s.” Yeah, it’s bad. I’m not even sure our republic will survive it.”

That is Mike Adams’ take on it from natural News.com. Many other of our beloved sites are equally as pessimistic:
  https://www.zerohedge.com/health/us-coronavirus-cases-double-48-hours-and-everyone-else-will-be-italy-9-14-days-time

“What is our country going to look like if COVID-19 keeps spreading this rapidly?  The map that Johns Hopkins University is using to track the spread of this virus has become extremely popular, and I refer to it several times a day.  On Monday, I watched as the number of confirmed cases in the United States crossed the 500 mark, and then on Tuesday I was really shocked to see it jump up to 1,025.  In less than 48 hours, the number of confirmed cases more than doubled.  Needless to say, we are going to be in a whole lot of trouble if this keeps happening.  Of course, the U.S. is far from alone.  This outbreak has gotten completely out of control all over the western world, and right now Europe is being hit harder than anyone else. After analyzing the growth rates that we are currently seeing all over Europe, computer scientist Mark Handley declared that “everyone else will be Italy in 9-14 days time”… On Monday night, computer scientist Mark Handley, Professor of Networked Systems and part-time Roboticist at UCL in London, tweeted a graph showing how growth figures in other infected countries compare to Italy’s. ‘Everyone else will be Italy in 9-14 days time,’ Handley tweeted along with the data.

At this moment, the entire nation of Italy has been locked down.  If Handley is correct, we should expect to see this happen in a bunch of other countries before two more weeks are gone. Of course Handley is not the only one making these sorts of projections.  Dr. John Crane of the University of Buffalo says that the U.S. is “on the exact same trajectory” as Italy… He told DailyMail.com in an interview that the world had never seen anything like the outbreak and that the US seemed to be watching how Italy responded before making any drastic decisions of its own. ‘It looks like they’re on the exact same trajectory. Italy had an 11.5 day head start,’ he said, referring to the data. We definitely do not want what is happening in Italy to happen here. There are now more than 10,000 confirmed cases in Italy, the death toll is up to 631, and their healthcare system is being absolutely overwhelmed… Italian hospitals are so ‘overwhelmed’ by coronavirus that strokes are going untreated and elderly patients are not even being assessed, a doctor at the centre of the crisis has said – while another medic said people in the UK and US should be panicking more. Doctors in Italy have been forced into life-or-death decisions over who should receive intensive care, with virus cases piling up around the country.

The same thing could soon start happening in the United States. When there are too many people to treat, not everyone will be treated. This is yet another reason why you want to stay away from public places so that you do not get this virus. Here in the U.S., Dr. Anthony Fauci is urging an “all hands on deck” approach to fighting this virus… Top national disease expert Anthony Fauci is urging the nation to take an ‘all hands on deck’ approach to the coronavirus – and urging officials to plan for immediate measures even in states that haven’t had cases show up yet. ‘It doesn’t matter if you’re in a state that has no cases or one case,’ Fauci said at a press briefing with Vice President Mike Pence Tuesday. ‘You have to start taking seriously what you can do now that if and when the infections will come – and they will come – sorry to say, sad to say, they will,’ he told reporters. Like so many others, Fauci seems resigned to the fact that we are going to see a lot more cases in this country. But where will we put them?  We only have a limited number of hospital beds, and those will fill up pretty quickly. According to Washington Governor Jay Inslee, there could be 64,000 cases in his state alone by May… Confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus are swiftly ballooning across the United States, and President Trump’s former Homeland Security Adviser Thomas Bossert says time is running out to control the spread.

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D), who is overseeing one of the country’s largest clusters, said “if you do the math” there could be 64,000 cases of COVID-19 in the Evergreen State by May, while New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said the positive cases in the city are “coming in so intensely now” that public officials are struggling to keep up with them. He said he wasn’t in a position to give the media a “detailed case breakdown” because of the rapidly changing number. Speaking of New York, a state of martial law has essentially been instituted in New Rochelle in a desperate attempt to contain the cluster that has erupted there… In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the most rigorous actions to date to combat the spread in New Rochelle, which he described as the “most significant cluster in the country” and accounts for the lion’s share of the surging caseload in the tri-state area. Those measures include deploying National Guard troops to a Health Department command post and setting up a satellite testing facility and one-mile, two-week containment area in the city. Public schools in that containment zone will be closed through March 25; National Guard troops will help clean surfaces and deliver food in that one-mile radius. Unfortunately, it is only a matter of time before similar measures are put into place in communities all across the nation. The months ahead are going to be extremely challenging for all of us, and so let us hope that this outbreak begins to subside as soon as possible.

We are already starting to see things happen that would have been unimaginable just a few weeks ago.  If you can believe it, colleges and universities all over America are choosing to cancel classes for the foreseeable future… A growing number of U.S. colleges have canceled in-person classes because of the coronavirus. The closures began in Washington state, and now include Harvard University, Columbia University, Princeton University, Rice University, Stanford University, Hofstra University, University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Washington, among others. As of midday Tuesday, more than half a million students are affected by the cancellations. And you know that things must be really bad if Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders are canceling campaign rallies… Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden’s presidential campaigns canceled rallies set for Cleveland on Tuesday night due to coronavirus concerns, the first disruptions the outbreak has caused in the 2020 Democratic primary. In separate announcements, the Democratic presidential contenders’ campaigns said they exercised caution about holding large public gatherings after hearing guidance from public health officials. At this point, there is even talk that the Tokyo Olympics could be delayed for a year or two.”

What we have here is that both the mainstream media, and the alternative press, agree that something bad is going down. It still is possible that this is a scam/dud, but the usual good folk who propose that for everything else are now deeply concerned. Therefore, we need to get ahead of the curve, and not be the ones to cash in our chips … let bleeding heart liberals, feminists, cultural theorists, and all the rest of the woke clowns be the ones to do this, while we survive, and after this brings down globalism, rebuild and thrive.

One important thing for readers to stockpile is plenty of common soap. Hand sanitizer is not good at killing viruses, mainly bacteria, but soap can breakdown the actual virus, and deactivate it. Washing also removes viruses physically:
  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8102495/Scientist-reveals-BEST-product-stock-avoid-catching-coronavirus.html?ito=push-notification&ci=9962&si=1326534

“Soap is the item everyone should be stockpiling to avoid catching coronavirus instead of hand sanitiser, a top scientist has revealed. Supramolecular chemistry expert Palli Thordarson confirmed alcohol-based hand sanitisers aren't the best defence against the contagion which has infected more than 100,000 people worldwide so far. The UNSW professor wrote a series of Tweets explaining that soap dissolves the fat membrane around the virus molecule and it 'falls apart', making it an effective shield against most viruses. 'The soap is effectively 'dissolving' the glue that holds the virus together. Add to that all the water. Soon the viruses get detached and fall a part like a house of cards due to the combined action of the soap and water. The virus is gone,' he wrote. The scientist went on to explain that disinfectants, wipes, gels and creams containing alcohol - hand sanitisers - are effective at killing bacteria, but don't break down the structure of the virus. He also suggested bar soaps could be better than liquid soaps because a bar generates more bacterial-killing foam.”

It is like something my dear old mum would have said, who swore by it, but as a devoted Christian, she never did swear, “it” being Velvet soap, the deep yellow magic in the packet for only $ 3.35 a pack, unchanged in its cleaning goodness from mum’s day:

Put it on the shopping list for this week.
