Pregnancy and the Moderna Covid-19 Vaccine By Mrs Vera West
With the establishment proclaiming the goodness, if not sainthood of the Covid vaccine, it is a bit hard to understand why pregnant women should be left out of the fun and games.
“The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued new guidance on the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine, including worrying advice that pregnant women should not get the jab unless they are at high risk of exposure.
The WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization issued a series of recommendations on the Moderna vaccine Tuesday, advising that pregnant women should not take the shot unless they are health workers or at particularly high risk of exposure.
“While pregnancy puts women at a higher risk of severe COVID-19, the use of this vaccine in pregnant women is currently not recommended,” SAGE wrote.
WHO director of immunisation Kate O’Brien said that clinical trials of the Moderna vaccine were needed on pregnant women.
The report also stressed that the vaccine should be administered in two doses with an interval of 28 days between each shot, with the possibility of extending this interval up to 42 days if necessary.
The SAGE report also emphasised the need for the vaccine to be administered in facilities where treatments for allergic reactions are readily available. The group of experts issued guidance on the rival Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine several weeks ago.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States and the Independent Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices said that there was insufficient evidence to suggest the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines were suitable or not for pregnant women, as neither contains the virus itself and they therefore cannot cause Covid-19 but insufficient data was available to make a call.
The latest guidance from Public Health England supports this position, stating that, “The early Covid-19 vaccines do not contain organisms that can multiply in the body, so they cannot infect an unborn baby in the womb.”
“The California Department of Public Health has issued an order to pause vaccinations using a batch of Moderna COVID shots, citing an unusually high amount of adverse reactions in the state.
State epidemiologist Dr. Erica S. Pan sounded the alarm over Moderna Lot 041L20A, from which 330,000 doses of the vaccine have been distributed to 287 providers state-wide:
Message to #CovidVaccine providers:
"This week, a higher-than-usual number of adverse events were reported with a specific lot of #Moderna vaccine administered at one community vaccination clinic. Fewer than 10 individuals required medical attention over the span of 24 hours." pic.twitter.com/RsaIzd1Gap

The reactions were almost all witnessed at one clinic, according to reports.
Reports suggest that at least six health care workers experienced allergic reactions, including numbness in the tongue and throat, and neck pain.
Dr Pan noted that “less data exists on adverse reactions related to the Moderna vaccine,” but still claimed it is rare for allergic reactions to occur.
“Out of an extreme abundance of caution and also recognizing the extremely limited supply of vaccine, we are recommending that providers use other available vaccine inventory and pause the administration of vaccines from Moderna Lot 041L20A,” Pan wrote in a statement.
However, the pause is not mandatory, and has not been adopted by all clinics with the batch of vaccines.”
Ok, nothing to worry about, move on folks, as the cops say, when there really is plenty to see and worry about.
