This is something that the West is simply failing to take seriously, that if Russia is indeed losing in the Ukraine, and will face conventional defeat, then this guarantees that Putin will use nuclear weapons. And if that happens, there is a very steep slippery slope, so that once one use is made, then it is on; the thin nuclear ice has been broken. There are reports that not only has Russia mobilised its nukes, but that Putin is now in a bunker, ready for anything. It is a sign of something that should be taken seriously.

Putin -- who will be 70 on Friday -- has warned his closest family including gymnast partner Alina Kabaeva, 40, of the possibility of rapid evacuation, it is alleged, the Daily Mail reported.
He believes the bunker to be 'safe' from Western attack and top officials from his security apparatus and government will be moved to the secret location, according to General SVR channel, Daily Mail reported.
The anti-Kremlin outlet -- which claims inside knowledge from Putin's circle -- has long claimed he is suffering acute health problems but offers no proof of its assertions.
Putin is believed to have several bunkers in Siberia, one linked to the massive new liquid case terminal at Sabetta on the Yamal peninsula and the other in the Altai Mountains.
"Relatives and friends of the heads of state will be delivered to the bunker in advance," stated a report from the channel today, Daily Mail reported.
"Alina Kabaeva with (the couple's) children and two older daughters with children and cohabitants were warned about the possibility of urgent evacuation.
"But not everyone in the leadership of Russia was lucky.
"For example, Putin ordered, in the event of a nuclear threat, to evacuate the 'necessary minimum' of Russian officials'."
This would include prime minister Mikhail Mishustin, and the speaker of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin.
It would include the prosecutor-general, the leadership of the Security Council -- but not former president Dmitry Medvedev -- as well as key officials from his presidential administration and three security and spy services, the FSB, FSO, SVR with their families, the Daily Mail reported.
His defence ministry has different bunkers including in the Urals.
The supposed evacuation includes his eldest daughter Maria Vorontsova, 36, a geneticist, and Katerina Tikhonova, 35, a high-kicking 'rock'n'roll' dancer-turned-mathematician with their spouses and children.
But an unacknowledged Putin 'love child' Luiza Rozova, also known as Elizaveta Krivonogikh, 19, is not invited to the bunker and nor a mystery son from a previous relationship, it was claimed, Daily Mail reported.
Rumours swirled at the start of the war that Putin had retreated to a bunker in Siberia.
One special bunker is rumoured to fit up to 100,000 people, and is designed for him to rule Russia in the event of Armageddon, the Daily Mail reported.
As well as a location close to a major Gazprom facility in the far north of Russia, there is also rumoured to be a hi-tech bunker in the Altai Mountains hidden beneath a large dacha.”

Ukraine’s President Zelensky seemed to be pushing for WWIII by calling on NATO to launch pre-emptive strikes on Russia. In a video that could easily be a deep-fake (who knows nowadays), Zelensky says strikes are needed to eliminate the possibility of a Russian nuclear attack by showing them what will happen if they use nukes. “Don’t wait for Russia’s nuclear strikes and then say ‘Oh, since you did this, take that from us’” he continued.
The Russian Foreign Ministry responded by saying that “the West is inciting a nuclear war, the unbalanced Zelensky has turned into a monster, his hands can destroy the planet. Zelensky’s statements are nothing more than a call to start a world war.”
This comes as the US has purchased $290 million of drugs used in radiological and nuclear emergencies. The Department of Health and Human Services said it purchased the radiation sickness drug “as part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies.”
It was first approved in 2008 to deal with serious internal bleeding caused by an autoimmune disorder but was updated last year to include treating internal bleeding as part of radiation sickness.”
One measure of seriousness is that even the Biden regime is stockpiling anti-radiation drugs, and they would not be doing this unless they thought that there was a real risk of nuclear war, with nukes hitting the US mainland.

HHS purchases drug for use in radiological and nuclear emergencies
As part of long-standing, ongoing efforts to be better prepared to save lives following radiological and nuclear emergencies, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is purchasing a supply of the drug Nplate from Amgen USA Inc; Nplate is approved to treat blood cell injuries that accompany acute radiation syndrome in adult and pediatric patients (ARS).
Amgen, based in Thousands Oaks, California, developed Nplate for ARS with support from the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), part of the HHS Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), as well as the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.
BARDA is using its authority provided under the 2004 Project Bioshield Act and $290 million in Project BioShield designated funding to purchase this supply of the drug. Amgen will maintain this supply in vendor-managed inventory. This approach decreases life-cycle management costs for taxpayers because doses that near expiration can be rotated into the commercial market for rapid use prior to expiry and new doses can be added to the government supply.
ARS, also known as radiation sickness, occurs when a person’s entire body is exposed to a high dose of penetrating radiation, reaching internal organs in a matter of seconds. Symptoms of ARS injuries include impaired blood clotting as a result of low platelet counts, which can lead to uncontrolled and life-threatening bleeding.
To reduce radiation-induced bleeding, Nplate stimulates the body’s production of platelets. The drug can be used to treat adults and children.
Nplate is also approved for adult and pediatric patients with immune thrombocytopenia, a blood disorder resulting in low platelet counts. Repurposing drugs for acute radiation syndrome that also are approved for a commercial indication helps to sustain availability of the product and improves healthcare provider familiarity with the drug.
"The US government said the procurement of Nplate was not in response to the war in Ukraine," The Telegraph reported.
"An HSS spokesman told The Telegraph: 'This is part of our ongoing work for preparedness and radiological security. It has not been accelerated by the situation in Ukraine.'"
The State Department last week urged all Americans to leave Russia "as soon as possible" in the wake of the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines.
The official reasoning they gave was to avoid getting conscripted in their mobilization effort but that logic only applied to dual citizens and their advisory was for all Americans.
As I noted at the time, the real reason they told everyone to leave is more likely the risk of a full-blown war breaking out due to the US, Ukraine or Poland being responsible for the belligerent bombing of the Nord Steam pipelines.
While Russia has issued statement after statement warning the US they will use nuclear weapons to defend their territory and are "not bluffing," the US has been shipping billions in high-tech weaponry to Ukraine to attack Russian forces and strike inside of Russia.
Just last week, Congress voted to send another $12.3 billion in military and economic aid to Ukraine.
Biden said in February after the war broke out that Americans should not be worried about a nuclear war then spent the next eight months antagonizing Russia (and China) with endless provocations to make nuclear war more likely than ever.”
