It is not the fault of Victorian retailers that they must put into motion Covid mandates, which they are required by law to do. Don’t blame them, and certainly do not get mean with staff who are just doing their jobs. If they do not, they get sacked. It is a simple as that. Rather, critique the politicians. Simple.
“Since Victoria’s ‘roadmap out of the pandemic’ was announced in early November, unvaccinated Victorians were given a grace period of three weeks to go on a shopping spree before they were no longer permitted to enter non-essential retail from November 24.
According to the roadmap, Victorians who were not yet vaccinated at that date would no longer be allowed into non-essential retail, and stores will be responsible for policing this.
The retail segregation has begun this week, and in the following video, you will see an on-the-ground perspective of what Victoria’s Brave New World Order looks like:
Daniel Andrews warned unvaccinated Victorians could continue to be locked out “for the entirety of 2022”, and if the energy of these staff members is anything to go off, perhaps indefinitely.

Some private businesses, such as restaurants, have already taken the lead with these directives. However, now we are beginning to see state rules for patrons being handed down.

There’s the obvious contradiction in allowing unvaccinated people to access retail at 80% vaccination rate and not at 90%, but nobody cares. They are firmly locked into the Twilight Zone.
When do the limitations on a person’s freedom of movement go too far, morally speaking?
Vaccinated people in a restaurant or shop don’t have anything more to fear from an unvaccinated person, than a vaccinated person. It is only the unvaccinated person ‘at risk’.
Locking access to retail or restaurants for unvaccinated people goes too far, given the ‘risk’ primarily carried in the current situation seems to be their own.
Yet the state pushes ahead, with mass employment mandates also coming into effect today.”
“A customer lashed out at Bunnings staff after he was refused entry because he was not vaccinated.
The man filmed the moment he was stopped at the door as he tried to enter the popular hardware store in Victoria.
'You got a vaccine certificate on you?' a Bunnings worker asks.
'No,' the customer responds.
The Bunnings worker, who is wearing a face mask, patiently explains to the customer the new rules for entry.
'It's not open for the public unless you have the vaccine certificate,' he says.
The customer becomes visibly shocked by the response.
'You're kidding me right?' he says. 'You must be kidding me.'
Another worker steps in to help his colleague explain the situation to the customer.
'You have to be double vaccinated,' he says.
'To go into Bunnings?' the customer responds in disbelief.
He continues to question the new entry requirement and repeatedly asks, 'are you kidding?'
In another video the man argues with a customer when he is refused entry at a Big W.
The customer questions why the man is making a big deal about the vaccination and that he should just show security his certificate.
'I'm not getting vaccinated,' the man says, defensively.
He then continues to argue before he misleadingly calls the vaccine 'poison'.
'It's poison. Do you know how many people have died?'
Bunnings has stated on its website the store is obligated under Public Health Orders to check the vaccination status of all its customers in Victoria.
The hardware store advises customers who are not vaccinated to shop online.
