Here Comes Another Mining Boom … and the Need to Take in a Billion Migrants Who Will Mine with Picks and Shovels! By James Reed

     I remember well when the mining boom was on some time back, and the government used this as an excuse to engage in basically open borders legal migration, as part of its program to dispossess the dispossessed majority, now minority. Well, that boom could be back:

“More than 20,000 mining jobs will be available over the next five years as $40billion worth of infrastructure projects in Australia's are given the go ahead. A new report released on Tuesday by the Australian Resources and Energy Group [AMMA] announced thousands of jobs as electricians, electricians and geologists. The 'boom' of mining jobs could see tens and thousands of Australians raking in big bucks, with some occupations paying six-figure salaries. 'Australia's mining industry is facing new workforce demand at levels not seen since the previous investment and construction boom,' AMMA Chief Executive, Steve Knott AM, said. A forecast of available jobs includes 8,660 mining plant operators and 2,847 heavy diesel fitters. An estimated 4,180 engineers, technicians, geologists and other related roles are needed as well as 4,110 supervisors, administration and management jobs. At least 970 other trades such as electricians, mechanics and maintenance jobs are also forecasted.”

     What I predict is that we will see the capitalists proclaim that there is yet another skills shortage, which must be solved by increasing immigration levels yet again, surpassing present records (Australia has accepted around 190,000 permanent migrants every year since 2011, an official figure that I think is as realistic as their unemployment figures.) The Big End of town will never be satisfied until every being in the universe, if not multiverse, are in Australia, consuming away. Because at the end of the day, what really matters are zeros on a computer screen, not life.
