Germaine Greer’s Career Rapees Comment By Mrs Vera West

Remember Australia second wave feminist Germaine Greer? Sure. Well today she gets in the news mainly by saying things which by present standards are politically incorrect, which goes to show how crazy this old world has become:

“Germaine Greer addressed her previous controversial remarks on the #MeToo movement — and in doing so reignited a controversy that has resulted in another strong backlash. Greer said that speaking out years after an attack is “pointless” and that those who do so risk becoming “career rapees.” She also cautioned about the damaging implications that making public accusations could have on the lives of the very women who level the allegations. “The amount of legal muscle that will be used to defend these people is massive and I’m concerned for damage limitation rather than maximisation rather than wrecking people’s lives, so they become career rapees as it were,” said Greer, citing the difficulties Harvey Weinstein’s former assistant Zelda Perkins faced. Speaking with Mishal Husain on BBC Radio 4’s Today, Greer built on past comments in which she said that Harvey Weinstein’s victims “spread [their] legs” in return for movie roles by suggesting that they and others who accepted financial settlements from powerful men were “dishonorable” for having done so. “Some of whom have been paid six figure sums in the form of non-disclosure agreements,” she added. “That’s a dishonorable thing to accept and it’s not something you should boast about.” Greer further condemned the #MeToo movement itself, saying that she didn’t believe it had “gone too far” because it hadn’t actually “got anywhere at all.”

Whooaha … that is much too deep and philosophical for today’s politically correct enforcers. Hence, they snap back at Greer. The same thing happened to Meryl Streep for mild and sensible remarks at the present-day anti-male excesses. I certainly hope that I censored any bad language that these “stars” used in these public forums, but if my old eyes missed anything, my humble apologies:

“Meryl Streep, the actress often referred to as the ‘Queen of Hollywood’, suffered an unusually sharp backlash from the otherwise adoring mainstream media over her defense of men and criticism of the term ‘toxic masculinity’. Streep was promoting her debut appearance in the upcoming second series of the HBO hit ‘Big Little Lies’ during a Q&A hosted by Vanity Fair. During the talk Streep interjected after co-star Nicole Kidman said a male viewer told her he was a fan of the show.

BREAKING: Meryl Streep slams term 'toxic masculinity', says it's damaging to boys/men & adds that 'women can be pretty f***ing toxic' too.
I've had my issues with Ms Streep, but on this, I applaud her. https://twitter.com/InStyle/status/1133901729253199873  …

Meryl Streep suggests we stop using term “toxic masculinity.” It’s harmful to boys. Plus, she says “women can be pretty f***ing toxic.” She’s right. https://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/meryl-streep-toxic-masculinity-big-little-lies-season-2-qa-talk-a8936156.html … “Sometimes I think we’re hurt. We hurt our boys by calling something ‘toxic masculinity'. I do,” Streep said. “And I don’t find [that] putting those two words together ... because women can be pretty f***ing toxic.”  “It’s toxic people,” she continued, saying that she finds labels unhelpful. “We’re all on the boat together. We’ve got to make it work.” The actress was quickly kicked under the proverbial table for straying from Hollywood’s left leaning party-line, with the HuffPost lambasting her for having “zero idea” what the term means. The criticism was echoed by both Jezebel and the Guardian who claimed the ‘Suffragette’ actress “clearly has no idea what ‘toxic masculinity’ means.”

#MerylStreep says the term #toxicmasculinity is hurting boys. Couldn't agree more. Perhaps the @APA will pay attention and stop passing off rubbish political terms as "science?" https://dailycaller.com/2019/05/30/meryl-streep-we-hurt-boys-toxic-masculinity/ …

The Morrigan@sarkorama

sadly Meryl Streep has no clue what toxic masculinity actually is.

Meryl streep is an old rich white boomer who stars in boring movies which she gets nominated for anyways. Toxic masculinity is more specific than this and it’s VERY REAL https://twitter.com/CHSommers/status/1134208519828398080 …

Appearing on Tucker Carlson Tonight, Concha noted that the world of Hollywood is much like the MSM: stay in line, or you’ll be cut from the crew. “It's an echo chamber of conformity. If you step outside that lane... then you probably will be ostracized,” said the journalist.”

We are witnessing a culture of collective insanity. It must ultimately self-destruct. Future generations, if there are any, will simply not believe the level of madness that humanity tumbled to, before the fall. But, that is what cultural collapse is all about.
