Does Binary Sex Matter? The Zombie Apocalypse Scenario By Mrs Vera West
Former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies recently caused an internet storm by giving a thought experiment, that on a desert island, or better yet, an end of the world scenario so beloved of TV at the moment, a cis male and female of reproductive ages could begin repopulating the earth, while the other 5 trillion genders, probably could not without the tech:
“If you put 2 biological females on an island humanity dies out (but they’d talk loads) if you put a biological male & a trans woman on an island humanity dies out,' she posted earlier today. 'But if u put a male & a female there we might stand a chance! Providing they can fish of course. Binary Sex matters.' The fresh row comes months after she argued the female athletes needed to be protected from transgender competitors 'with a male sex advantage'. Davies posted earlier today: 'If you put 2 biological females on an island humanity dies out (but they’d talk loads) if you put a biological male & a trans woman on an island humanity dies out. But if u put a male & female there we might stand a chance! Providing they can fish of course. Binary Sex matters'
While some agreed with Davies' analogy, others were quick to take it apart, claiming she had manufactured a scenario to prove her point. Pandora Sylvana replied: 'And? I don't know if you've notice but we're not exactly running short of homosapiens on this planet. This is also one of the standard arguments made by homophobes.' Another commentor hit back at Davies by saying her argument meant post-menopausal woman would not count as a female in the scenario. 'Sharron, you've 56. You're not going to be having kids on a desert island either. And yet you're still a woman. Gosh, it's almost as if identity isn't defined by fertility or something.”
Of course, the condition is that the breeding pair need to be of an age capable of breeding. The older woman can help look after the babies and children. Put this thought experiment to people even 20 years ago, and no-one would get hot and bothered by it. But today, it is all so different. The thought is in fact “extremist,” which is defined as anything the pc status quo does not like.
