The Central Coast Council has banned flying the Australian flag because … well, the usual woke stuff, I guess. When the push for the Republic gets in full swing, the Aussie flag will be on the agenda too. Anything of traditional Australia is set to be cancelled by the woke folk. But, I do not despair, for I have faith that the great Australia people will awake at the very last moment and stop this. Of course.
“The Central Coast Council’s decision to ban the national flag from flying on council assets has caused outrage.
President of the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce on the Central Coast, Matthew Wales told Jim Wilson they are mystified by the Council’s ruling.
“You couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried.”
In response, a Central Coast Council spokesperson says the recommendation does not ban the flying of flags on Council assets, but only relates to town centre street banners. (See full statement below)
The Central Coast Council’s full statement:
“The matter of Council’s Street Banners and Flying Flags Policy is coming up for decision at the Ordinary Council meeting on 11 October 2022.
“It should be noted that the recommendation in the Policy’s report, does not ban the flying of flags on Council assets, but only relates to town centre street banners.
“The recommendation to be considered at Council’s meeting, is supportive of installing additional Council assets in Umina for flags to be flown in accordance with the Policy.
“Council’s meeting agenda and attachments, including this Policy’s Report, can be found at https://centralcoast.infocouncil.biz/”
