Controlling the Universities By James Reed
This is, I think, a good start to dealing with the problem of the universities, which I see as the source of much of the rot in society. These places were fully taken over by the Left in the 1960s, and now push themselves to absurdity level, as shown by entire blogs now devoted to this issue. Much of the cultural war ammunition comes from these woke, morally broke, politically correct cesspools, funded by the tax payer. The metaphor is, digging our own graves, or having someone dig one for you, then you cover yourself.
However, Viktor Orban, prime minister of Hungary, has begun to fight back with a restructuring of the control of the universities. It will be a long battle given that the Left are now entrenched with tenure. Still, we will see where it leads. I still believe that a more radical reconception of higher education is needed and that the university itself is totally inappropriate to the needs of nations today. Selling education is little more than a form of prostitution, and Australia is big on that, something that would have dismayed the nationalists of the past, as weak as they were. The following material is not supportive, but does give some basic information, about what god old Vik is up to.

“A good university prizes original thought. And Viktor Orban, Hungary’s prime minister, is certainly an original thinker. Since 2010, when his Fidesz party won two-thirds of the seats in parliament, he has been dreaming up innovative ways to turn Hungary back into an autocracy, while maintaining a democratic façade. On April 27th his government passed a law transferring control of the country’s 11 main state universities to a series of foundations that are likely to be run by his allies. The party has already asserted its grip over institutions such as the electoral system, the media, the courts and much of the economy. Now it wants total power over the ivory towers.
Like most of Mr Orban’s illiberal reforms, the plan is complicated, brilliant and likely to be copied by aspiring strongmen in other countries. The universities have been placed under the control of public foundations, along with billions of euros-worth of assets (including a palace, a harbour and shares in state-owned companies) which are supposed to help finance them. The foundations’ boards are initially appointed by Mr Orban’s government, and those appointed so far consist mainly of Fidesz members or sympathisers. Subsequent vacancies will be filled by candidates chosen by the boards themselves.”
What Orban needs to do is begin the more radical James Reed program of cleaning the universities out. I am available for consultation, which would be more productive that the way I spend my days now!
