What can I say that I have not said before/ Communist China has threatened to nuke Japan if Japan aids Taiwan. This is from a CCP video: “We will use nuclear bombs first. We will use nuclear bombs continuously. We will do this until Japan declares unconditional surrender for the second time,” the video said.
“When we liberate Taiwan, if Japan dares to intervene by force – even if it only deploys one soldier, one plane or one ship – we will not only return fire but also wage full-scale war against Japan itself.”
I imagine, although this is difficult for white minds fed since birth on liberal/cosmopolitan dogmas, to understand, that this is probably a historical payback for China’s so-called “century of humiliation.” We need to take on board that if Japan can be threatened, then so can Australia as well, which may also aid Taiwan. Best to keep our heads down or a nuke may be dropped on other places than Pine Gap:
“A new video circulated among Chinese Communist Party channels has warned China will destroy Japan with nuclear weapons in a "full-scale war" if Tokyo interferes militarily in Taiwan.
The new video singles out Japan threatening it will be the “exception” to China’s stated policy to not use nuclear weapons against non-nuclear powers.
“We will use nuclear bombs first. We will use nuclear bombs continuously. We will do this until Japan declares unconditional surrender for the second time,” the video said.
“When we liberate Taiwan, if Japan dares to intervene by force – even if it only deploys one soldier, one plane or one ship – we will not only return fire but also wage full-scale war against Japan itself.”
The video ends by stating: "There will be no peace talks."
The tensions between Tokyo and Beijing have soared recently after Japanese politicians doubled down publicly on Japan’s commitment to Taiwanese sovereignty.
“We must defend Taiwan, under our alliance with the US,” Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso said.
Defence Minister Yasuhide Nakayama added Japan and the US must “protect Taiwan as a democratic country”.
Japan’s release of the Defence of Japan 2021 white paper last week - in which it referred to the importance of Taiwanese stability - also angered China.
China Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Zhao Lijian urged Japan to adjust its “mentality” in comments last week.
”We once again urge Japan to approach the relevant issues with the right mentality, and show its respect for China's sovereignty and sincerity in upholding regional peace and stability.”
“I must stress that, Taiwan is part of China and the Taiwan question is purely China's internal affair. China never allows interference in the Taiwan question in any form by any country.”
“China must and will be reunified. A complete reunification of China is most beneficial to regional peace and stability.”
The video – appearing on a channel approved by the CCP and with close ties to the People’s Liberation Army – dropped any diplomatic niceties or ambiguity in its response, however.
It asked that Beijing abandon its ‘no first use’ nuclear weapons policy.
“In 1964, when our first atomic bomb was successfully detonated, we promised the world that we would not use atomic weapons against non-nuclear countries, and we would not be the first to use them,” the narrator states.
“Nearly 60 years have passed. Now the international situation has changed dramatically. Our country is in the midst of a major change. And all political policies, tactics and strategies must be adjusted to protect the peaceful rise of our country.
“It is necessary to make limited adjustments to our nuclear policy.”
The five-minute video, now taken down, which had attracted millions of views is not the first officially sanctioned video threatening to attack the west.
The PLA released a military recruitment video last year showing a H-6K bomber simulating a strike on the US territory of Quam.
Speaking to news.com.au, Professor Stephan Fruhling of the Australian National University’s Strategic and Defence Studies Centre believes the sentiments expressed in the clip are unlikely to be echoed by Beijing’s more powerful political cadres.
“My sense though is that they will squash this kind of rhetoric insofar as it is only likely to strengthen the case for the US to rely more heavily on nuclear weapons in the Indo-Pacific as well,” he told news.com.au.
However, Professor Fruhling added that the possibility China would use a nuclear weapon against Japan or the US to solve the ‘Taiwan question’ is “very real”.
“The possibility that (Beijing) would use nuclear weapons against Japan or the US if they thought it would make the difference between victory and defeat in a war over Taiwan is, in my view, very real,” says Professor Fruhling.”
