China Gets on War Footing, By James Reed

Chinese emperor Xi has said: "the military should comprehensively strengthen training and preparation for war, (and) ensure troops have solid combat capabilities." Xi has said that Taiwan will be reunited with communist China, come-what-may, with military intervention if necessary. And that seems to be so, because Taiwan will not give up without a fight.

What I find absurd is the way our political and business elites act just like "pig iron" Bob, continuing with business as usual with China, even though the future will most likely involve military conflict, with an attack upon Pine Gap, maybe using a nuclear missile to attack the full installation that the US uses for tracking in the Asia-Pacific region, and rightfully so. It is worth having this base, and maybe others, for the protection it gives, that Australia cannot supply. A nuke exploding on Australia will certainly be a game changer though, and an ironic conclusion of the Asianisation experiment.

"On Thursday Chinese Communist Dictator Xi Jinping commanded troops to strengthen their preparedness for war while visiting his People's Liberation Army Rocket Force following last week's drills of surrounding the sovereign country of Taiwan.

"Xi said the military should 'comprehensively strengthen training and preparation for war, (and) ensure troops have solid combat capabilities,' CCTV reported," according to the AFP and reported on Barrons Saturday.

The drills were accompanied by China declaring the possibility of invading and taking over Taiwan.

"China's communist leaders have insisted they will not rule out using force to bring Taiwan under Beijing's control," Barrons said on Saturday.

Days after the Sino naval drills around Taiwan, the Chinese military criticized the U.S. and Canada for sending warships through the Taiwan Strait as the two power blocks exercise show-of-force operations in the region.

The recent directive by Jinping builds upon a similar order he dictated in 2023, a call for stronger military combat readiness, as well as echos the ruler's directives in 2018 to prepare for war.

The recent war escalation with China follows escalations with Ukraine and Russia and Israel and Iran."
