You just have to love the Italians, so much guts, passion and manliness, so much pizza, putting the Northern Europeans to shame. Look at their government … oh, it just collapsed:

“Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has resigned, forcing the collapse of the populist coalition between the Five Star Movement and Matteo Salvini’s Populist-right Lega (League). The Italian PM was set to face a vote of no confidence brought by Salvini’s party after the Five Star Movement overwhelmingly opposed a recent vote on the Italian-French TAV train tunnel project. On the floor of the Italian senate, Mr Conte blasted Salvini, accusing the Interior Minister of “political opportunism,” according to a report from Italian newspaper Il Giornale.”

     Blah, blah. But here is an alternative appraisal of what is going on, that cite in the public interest of journalism, making no claim of support blah, blah:

“The Italian government has collapsed following Salvini’s pulling his support from the government. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte resigned as he was set to face a vote of no confidence brought about by Matteo Salvini’s Lega Party. At the center of the rise of “populist” movements in Europe has been the hijrah and Islamic supremacist incursions. Conte blasted Salvini, accusing the Interior Minister of “political opportunism,” and “slammed Salvini for various issues including his use of religious symbols, a critique often deployed by members of the Roman Catholic clergy hostile to Salvini’s anti-mass migration policies.” Meanwhile, that is exactly what the Pope of Islam has been doing in counseling the Catholic flock to fling open Europe’s doors to unrestricted mass immigration, because in his view, it is the Christian thing to do. And the Pope’s views are not without opposition within the Church. Cardinal Robert Sarah — prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments — compared “the modern influx of Muslim migrants to the invasions of barbarian tribes that ultimately brought down the Roman Empire in a.d. 475.” Sarah also issued a warning about Muslim migration and the subsequent destruction of Europe, and cautioned that “it is a false exegesis [interpretation of scriptural text] to use the Word of God to promote migration. God never wanted these rifts.” This is exactly what Pope Francis has been doing for quite some time, while the Vatican remains walled up, and the Pope remains surrounded by security. Salvini stands firm and unapologetic about defending Europe’s tradition and Christian identity, which is rooted in the principles of human rights for all, equality before the law, and individual freedom. Salvini has made specific reference to defending Europe from an “Islamic caliphate,” stating: “For our children, to leave behind an Islamic caliphate with sharia law in our cities is not something I want to do and I’m going to do everything in my power to avert this sad ending for Europe.””

     Oh, so it is all about immigration it seems. Whoever would have thought that!
