Britain’s Booming Welfare International: How 1.3 Million Foreign Nationals Discovered Universal Credit is the New Gold Rush! By Richard Miller (Londonistan)
It's official: Britain has become the only country on earth where immigration doesn't just "pay for pensions," it politely declines to pay for pensions at all, and then invoices you for the privilege!
According to the ONS, 1.298 million foreign nationals are now claiming Universal Credit. That's more people than live in Birmingham, and they didn't come here to fill potholes or run the NHS. No, apparently Britain has cornered the global market in attracting out-of-work rocket scientists, brain surgeons on extended sabbatical, and professional Netflix binge-watchers who, curiously, never seem to have the time to build their own rockets, cure cancer, or even pick up a shift at Greggs.
One in Five, and CountingThe figures show that between January and March 2025, 21.5% of all unemployed individuals in Britain were non-UK nationals. That's one in five. One in five! It used to be that one in five meant your pub darts team always had a bloke who couldn't throw straight. Now it means your payslip is quietly footing the bill for someone else's broadband and Deliveroo habit.
Three years ago, there were just under a million migrant Universal Credit claimants. Fast-forward to today, and it's ballooned by over 370,000, a 40% increase. Britain is literally importing unemployment at this point. Who knew "global Britain" meant franchising the dole queue?
The Great Pension MirageWe were told, endlessly, that immigration was necessary to support Britain's ageing population. The maths was simple: millions of energetic newcomers would stride off the plane, elbow their way into the workforce, and the resulting tax revenue would bankroll boomer pensions.
Except… it hasn't. Instead of paying your pension, they're collecting theirs — early, in the form of Universal Credit. You're still working overtime to fund Nigel's hip replacement, while also funding Mehmet's rent and Wi-Fi. Multi-tasking, 21st-century style.
Open-Borders AlchemyRobert Bates at the Centre for Migration Control summed it up neatly: "We were promised mass migration would bring unbridled prosperity. Instead, the taxpayer is expected to support 1.3 million foreign nationals on benefits."
Translation: Britain was sold a Ferrari but got a Reliant Robin on blocks, sitting in the driveway with the hazard lights on, radio blasting, while you're paying the finance.
Let's be honest, this isn't a jobs crisis, it's a career choice. Why bother harvesting turnips in Lincolnshire when you can harvest Universal Credit in Leicester? Why flip burgers when flipping through Netflix's "Are you still watching?" screen pays better?
Britain has become the world's first nation to successfully offshore employment itself. We don't just import labour anymore, we import unemployment. It's a genius innovation, really, a new "service economy" where the service is being provided to migrants, not by them.
Meanwhile, the great boomer pension scheme is now running on fumes. All those promises that "they'll pay for your retirement" are dissolving into the grim reality that you'll be working until 80 to cover both your pension and your neighbour's cousin's PlayStation subscription.
Britain's welfare state was once called a safety net. Today it looks more like a trampoline, except it's the taxpayer doing all the bouncing, while 1.3 million others sit comfortably and watch.
