Australia’s Parliamentary Inquiry into Long Covid By Brian Simpson
Australia is set to have a parliamentary inquiry into long Covid, something which some authorities even from the mainstream do not believe exists. But whether something exists or not has never bothered governments, who in the dark past investigated all sorts of things, like witchcraft. Indeed, until a few years ago, new Guinea had a Sorcery Act now, repealed.
What almost certainly is not going to be investigated, is the distinction between long Covid and the Covid vax injuries. The vax-crazed regime seems to collapse these together, beginning with the methodological assumption that the vaxxes can do no harm. As such, with excess mortality rates right across the world being higher than the norm, any such inquiry will not be insightful. Garbage in; garbage out.

“The Australian Government’s House Health Committee chaired by pediatrician and Labor Party member Dr. Mike Freelander seeks engagement with healthcare providers, including the front and central GPs supporting long COVID patients. This is part of a broader endeavor to understand not only the health but also social, educational, and economic impacts of long COVID as well as ongoing COVID infections on Australian health systems and society. What are care providers ‘experience and insights,’ for example, along with numerous other relevant lines of inquiry investigating the impact of long COVID and reinfections on the Australian health system? A mounting crisis, health systems in America for example are becoming stretched by the growing condition that doesn’t have any finalized diagnoses and/or treatments pathways.
With limited current knowledge and understanding of multiple facets of impacts, Australian Parliament seeks to understand not only the impacts of long COVID and repeated infections on individuals and their families but also broader communities in the hope of collecting and analyzing sufficient inputs to effectuate public policy recommendations.
First and foremost, this government inquiry centers its probe on the patient experience with an emphasis on diagnosis and treatment as well as healthcare professional experience across Australia and even abroad, reports Matt Woodley writing for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) news outlet News GP.
Melissa McIntosh, who serves the effort as Deputy Chair of the committee, stated to News GP that they are “particularly looking forward to” engaging with individuals or their loved ones with long COVID. She told the RACGP’s news outlet, “The committee hopes to engage with researchers, peak bodies, members of the public, mental health organizations, the Australian Government, and state and territory governments.”
The Condition in Australia
A review of numerous studies over the past year suggests anywhere from 10% to 30% of persons afflicted with COVID-19 may develop some form of long COVID. RACGP’s news outlet reports the estimate could be 1 in every five people (20%) that are diagnosed with COVID-19 end up dealing with some persistent symptom a month after the infection, while 5% of this population will experience symptoms after three months.
By June of this year, GP News reports that nearly 50% of the 25.7 million people in Australia had already contracted the virus.
TrialSite has reported consistently that Australia’s death toll from COVID-19 during the first few months of 2022 was double the total deaths in 2020 and 2021 combined. This seems contrary to public health claims that mass vaccination led to more control over the virus. This kind of observation hasn’t been reported on in mainstream media.
What will Parliament focus on?
- What is the state of research into long COVID and repeat infections in Australia and beyond? What are the potential and known effects, causes, risk factors, prevalence, management, and treatments?
- How do long COVID and repeated infections impact patients, family members, and broader communities within Australia? What/how do these impacts affect higher risk groups?
- What are the impacts of long COVID and repeated infections on the health system in Australia?
A Disability Recognized?
A recent report by government-funded SBS Media reports that MP Dr. Freelander raised the possibility that the Australian government could consider recognizing long COVID as a disability. In some countries such as the U.S., long COVID patients are receiving long-term disability. With government mandates across the developed world plus ubiquitous liability shields against manufacturers and others in the vaccine value chain in America and elsewhere vaccine injured persons will also need to be addressed and cared for.”
