Arctic Ice Data a Problem for Climate Change Alarmism, By James Reed

There are problems for the climate change alarmist position, which is used to justify the abandonment of fossil fuels, and the attack on farming in the name of the cult of zero net. If warming is occurring, we would expect to observe it, and as climate change alarmists from Al Gore on have said, the best place to see this is the polar regions. That led to the scenario, all quite false of course, of polar bears drowning at sea because of ice melts, which never made sense since the ice would not melt that fast, and polar bears are excellent swimmers. But it had its impact at the time to get the cult of climate change going.

The problem now for climate change alarmism is that ice is increasing in both the Antarctic and Arctic. I covered the Antarctic ice increases in articles in December 2024. But now it has been reported that Arctic ice data shows that 2024 Arctic ice was 26 percent larger than in 2012. That was the year that early climate change extremist had predicted that the Arctic would be ice free in the summer. But they got that wrong, just as the entire climate change cult is wrong.

"Climate realist Tony Heller took to X to highlight the climate misinformation and disinformation campaigns waged by far-left corporate media on the global public.

Heller referenced a 2007 BBC News article titled "Arctic summers ice-free 'by 2013'," which warned readers of the supposed threat that "latest modeling studies indicate northern polar waters could be ice-free in summers within just 5-6 years."

The BBC article's baseless claim was designed to instill climate fears across the public to ram through a radical de-growth climate agenda across the Western world.

Heller then cited NOAA Sea Ice Extent data of the Arctic from Sept. 16, 2012, and Sept. 7, 2024, and found:

"This year's minimum Arctic sea ice extent was 26% larger than 2012. @BBCNews said the Arctic would be ice-free by 2013."
