Appeal to Dutton to Change By Ken Grundy
The Leader of the Opposition
Dear Mr Peter Dutton
I write in genuine hope that the Coalition can find its correct niche in the political world.
For too long, despite good effort from some elected Members and party members, the policies and press announcements have been of the ‘Labor-like’ nature. Whatever the subject, the Coalition offers something not quite as severe as the ALP.
Climate Change and Nett Zero come to mind when scientists are at hand to dispute even the practicality of a Nett Zero, let alone the tremendous costs we will have to suffer getting there. Meanwhile, hypocrisy reigns supreme while we enjoy exporting the world’s best coal to allow others to do what we deny ourselves, namely generate reliable, cheap baseload power.
On the Voice, it took ages to hear the message that the Coalition was going to favour the NO case. It appeared you were not opposed to the Voice which included Recognition of A&TSI people in the Constitution. Eventually we got going nicely with the NO case but out of the blue came your call to run another referendum, if you became PM, on ‘recognition’ without the Voice component. What confusion this created? Did it mean we had to endure another referendum process after opposing the double barrelled ALP model? Where was the advice that The Book of Rules known as the Constitution is not the appropriate place for any race or individual names?
I have it from an absolute top legal man (with honours) that mentioning A&TSI people in the Preamble, would not guarantee such a Clause being beyond the jurisdiction of the High Court. Why would we tread down that path?
Again, you seem timid about being contrary to the ALP and you prefer to meet them half way.
The public are thirsty for a genuine Opposition to earn their spot in government.
You are at the helm and are the key man to initiate the necessary changes.
Yours faithfully
Ken Grundy
