America: Coming Apart at the Seams by Chris Knight

We, in Australia, need to keep tabs on what is happening over the lake, back in my home country of the United States. Taki mag, I find is a good conservative site, but some articles may be a little gamey for our gentle folk, although the tone has gone down in recent months. That which happens in America, pretty soon washes onto our shores, so it is good to keep track on their decadence and social decline. The site is good for its discussions of the complexities of race, giving us here some idea of what mass migration has in store for Australians.

David Cole – yes, that David Cole – in “L.A’s dirty Little Brown Secret,’  August 25, 2016, at http://takimag.com/article/las_dirty_little_brown_secret_david_cole#axzz4IfqZ57uR, tells us about the racial politics of Boyle Heights in East  L. A., where even before the second world war, a Hispanic gang, the Big Hazard Gang, Hazard Grande, made this suburb 94 percent Latino, by using force to keep American blacks out of the neighbourhood. Blacks who attempted to settle had their homes fire bombed by Molotov cocktails hurled at their homes.

David Cole, a long-time L. A resident, observes: “Outright racism by Latinos against blacks gets little coverage in the liberal press and no outrage from SJWs, and black “civil rights leaders” are scared … to confront it with the same merciless, take-no-prisoners attitude they reserve for every perceived “micro-aggression” from whites. We all know this. What I’d prefer to concentrate on is the fact that the Big Hazard story, and the (non)reaction to it from the usual suspects, slightly, just slightly, lays bare one of L.A.’s dirtiest little secrets: Most non-black Angelenos are probably rooting for what the gang is doing (the goal if not the methods).

I’m neither celebrating nor defending that notion; I’m simply presenting it as the learned observation of a guy who was born in L.A. 47 years ago, and who has always kept his primary residence right here in this city. Among L.A.’s white and Asian residents (for the purpose of this piece, Jews, Persians, and Armenians are counted as white), Mexican neighborhoods are seen as preferable to black neighborhoods.”

Such are the realities of diversity, removed from the shiny unreality of the academic seminar.

Thus, another Taki mag article by James Miller, “A Slow Drifting Apart,”  August 24, 2016, at http://takimag.com/article/a_slow_drifting_apart_james_miller#axzz4IfqZ57uR, comments on a paper by leading social psychologist Jonathan Haidt,
“Why the Centre Cannot hold in America, Europe, and Psychology,” at http://heterodoxacademy.org/2016/08/09/why-the-centre-cannot-hold/. The article’s title refers to the justly famous poem by W. B. Yeats, “The Second Coming,” (1919), which also lamented about a time of crisis and tempest:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

Yeats wrote this poem in the aftermath of World War I, and commented upon a shattered world. Haidt uses the same metaphor to reflect upon the growing political polarisation occurring in American society, with universities being part of the problem. He cites statistics which indicate that at no time since the American Civil War, have Americans been so at each other’s throats. The evidence includes race riots, police shootings, terrorist attacks and the refugee crisis, among other ills.

The West is therefore coming apart, because many of those who now compose the West, simply don’t believe in the institutions.

Haidt’s hope is that the intolerant may become more tolerant by learning to embrace the West’s beliefs, practices and institutions. Good idea – only that was the initial problem, wasn’t it?

What needs to be made clear, is that all of these problems are the result of the artificially created multicultural/multiracial society.
Intensify the diversity, and one gets, not strength, but inevitable social breakdown.
