A Wee Conflict of Interest By Chris Knight (Florida)

Imagine pushing the line that all drugs should be decriminalised, but then it was uncovered that you owned millions in a company accused of fuelling Mexican cartel heroin production! Well:

“Associate attorney general nominee Vanita Gupta, who has called for the decriminalization of all drugs in the past, reportedly owns tens of millions of dollars of stock in a company that has been accused of “fueling” Mexican drug cartels’ heroin production.

“According to an August 2020 Bloomberg report, American company Avantor sold acetic anhydride to cartels that used it to make high-grade ‘china white’ heroin and methamphetamine,” Fox Business reported. “Biden’s pick for associate attorney general, Vanita Gupta, owns between $11 million and $55 million in the company’s stock, according to her financial disclosure form as reported by ABC News.

Following Bloomberg News’ report, Avantor stopped all sales of the product in Mexico. “Due to the potential for misuse of acetic anhydride outside of the regulated supply chain, the company has recently chosen to stop all sales of the product in Mexico,” Avantor said. “We have properly discarded all inventory of acetic anhydride in Mexico.”

Neither of the reports accused Avantor of knowingly selling products to cartels and the company says that all of its sales of the product are to entities that are registered with Mexico’s health regulator. Gupta’s father, Raj Gupta, is the chairman of the board of Avantor.

Gupta has previously expressed support for decriminalizing “all drugs” in small amounts, a position that she claims that she now no longer supports. Gupta, as the ACLU’s deputy legal director, wrote in 2012 that “states should decriminalize simple possession of all drugs, particularly marijuana, and for small amounts of other drugs.”

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) has focused his attention on trying to derail Gupta’s confirmation to the Department of Justice, where she would serve as the No. 3 official in the department.

“Vanita Gupta, President Biden’s nominee for Associate Attorney General, would make America less safe. She must be stopped,” Cotton wrote on Twitter. “More than 83k Americans died from drug overdoses last year, but Gupta wants to ‘decriminalize’ possession of ALL drugs, even fentanyl. Opioids are already ravaging our communities—we shouldn’t give fentanyl, heroin, or cocaine dealers get-out-of-jail-free cards.”

“As recently as last summer, Vanita Gupta called to defund the police,” Cotton continued. “Her allies in the jailbreak industry—who are clamoring for access to the Biden DOJ—are now trying to deny what she said. But see for yourself where Vanita Gupta stands on defunding the police.”

Why not just let the drug cartels rule America? It might be better government?

After all, America now is pretty much like the worst of the South American drug republics. Witness this intimidation by the forces of the State:

Congressman Brings National Guard To Confront Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Over Guam Status Gaffe

Uniformed National Guard engaging in a political protest directed at a Congressman, in the halls of the Capitol no less, is another sign the military is being politicized.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene made a comment lumping Guam in with foreign countries which should not receive U.S. tax dollars. The Guam Post reported:

“I’m a regular, normal person. And I wanted to take my regular – normal person, normal, everyday American values, which is: We love our country. We believe our hard-earned tax dollars should just go for America – not for what, China, Russia, the Middle East, Guam – whatever, wherever,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on Feb. 27 at the Conservative Political Action Conference, which headlined former President Donald Trump. “If we want to build roads, if we want to put money into schools, if we want to build border walls, we want it right here at home. This is easy to me; it’s easy to us, but it’s not easy to Washington.”

While Guam is not a state, it is a U.S. territory and it’s residents are U.S. citizens. In perfectly appropriate responses, cookies and books were sent to Greene, the Guam Post further reported:

“Congresswoman Greene is a new member, and we will be paying a visit to her and delivering delicious Chamorro Chip Cookies as part of our ongoing outreach to new members to introduce them to our wonderful island of Guam,” said Del. Michael San Nicolas. He also referred to using “cookie diplomacy” in Congress during his annual address to the Legislature last year.

From the governor’s office, director of communications Krystal Paco-San Agustin said: “We would be more than happy to send Representative Greene’s office a copy of ‘Destiny’s Landfall: A History of Guam.’ “

In a totally inappropriate move, Guam Congressman Michael San Nicolas, who is under an ethics investigation, led a group of Guam National Guard in uniform to Greene’s office to confront her. She wasn’t there at the time, but the visual of military-fatigued National Guard engaging in a political protest directed at a Congressman, in the halls of the Capitol no less, was another sign that the military is losing its bearing in the age of Biden.”

Yet another example of anarcho-tyranny, or maybe just old fashioned, tyranny.
