The Australian media is frantically pushing the line that social freedoms can only be given back if there is a greater than 70 percent vaccination rate. Ideally, everyone gets the might Vaxes, and happy, happy. But will it be? Take Israel, with the sort of dream percentage of people vaccinated that the Australian technocrat class must nightly dream about. What is being seen now are infections among the unvaccinated, to be sure, but even more infections among the vaccinated, at numbers that would shut down Australian states and cause premiers to get a wee bit hysterical.
As well, while there is an almost fanatical religious faith that the Pfizer vaccine is a magic bullet here in Australia, preliminary vaccine data published in Israel in July 2020, reported that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was just 40.5 percent effective on average at preventing symptomatic disease. Some religion!

“Israel’s Ministry of Health on Wednesday, Aug. 11, reported that 694 people were being treated in hospitals because of coronavirus (COVID-19) – including 400 patients in serious condition.
Among those in serious condition, 64 percent were fully vaccinated while 32 percent were not. This means that there were twice as many fully vaccinated people in serious condition because of the disease compared to those who’re not vaccinated.
According to the ministry, there were another 5,755 people diagnosed with COVID-19 – down from more than 6,000 on Tuesday, Aug. 10. The death toll stood at 6,580. More than 100 coronavirus patients have died in Israel since the beginning of August, continuing a sharp upward trend that started in June.
Israel has one of the fastest vaccination programs in the world. According to the vaccine tracker of the New York Times, 64 percent of Israelis have received at least one dose and 60 percent have been fully vaccinated. More than 650,000 citizens over age 60 or who are immunosuppressed have also received a third dose of the vaccine.
However, the country’s preliminary vaccine data published in July found that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine was just 40.5 percent effective on average at preventing symptomatic disease.
The analysis, which was carried out as the delta variant became the dominant strain in Israel, appeared to show a waning effectiveness of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The vaccine was only 16 percent effective against symptomatic infection for those who had two doses back in January. For people that had received two doses by April, the efficacy rate against symptomatic infection stood at 79 percent.
Israel’s corona cabinet passes new COVID restrictions.
Israel’s corona cabinet, the country’s ministerial committee on fighting the coronavirus, passed a new set of restrictions late Wednesday in a bid to curb the number of new COVID-19 cases. The cabinet agreed to expand the Green Pass to all branches of the economy except malls and places of commerce. It will now also apply to children older than the age of three.
This means that people who are unvaccinated – by choice or because they do not qualify – will be required to present a negative COVID test before entering swimming pools, gyms, academic institutions, sports and culture events, conferences, museums, libraries, restaurants and hotels.
The tests for children 11 years old and below will be paid for by the state while anyone 12 or older will be required to fund the screenings on their own.
Having to pay for the tests seems to have caused a surge in teens asking to get vaccinated. Both Maccabi Healthcare Services and Meuhedet Health Maintenance Organization told the Jerusalem Post that the number of children aged 12 to 15 who made appointments to get vaccinated this week was double what it was the week before.
The expanded Green Pass will take effect on Aug. 18.
“In addition to the Green Pass that would apply in full, restrictions are also needed on massive gatherings to prevent mass infection,” Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz said just before the cabinet meeting commenced.
The cabinet voted to roll back out the Purple Ribbon program for malls and places of commerce according to occupancy. Meaning, there should only be one person per seven square meters. The Purple Ribbon will not apply to stores that are less than 100 square meters. The expanded Purple Ribbon program will be implemented beginning Aug. 16.
There will also be additional restrictions on gatherings. In places with marked or fixed seating, only 1,000 people will be permitted in closed spaces and 5,000 in open spaces. Smaller private events will be limited to 50 people inside and 100 outside.
Israeli prime minister announces plan to invest $775.8 million in health system
The cabinet met with the understanding that Green Pass and other similar restrictions would not effectively stop the spread of the delta variant. As such, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett announced before the meeting a last-minute plan to invest NIS 2.5 billion ($775.8 million) in the health system.
“We are preparing for a significant increase in the number of severe patients,” Bennett said at a news conference. “Our goal is to double the capacity of the healthcare system.”
He said that the delta variant is “sweeping the world,” and that Israel is waging a determined campaign to fight it. “Every serious patient hurts us. Every family that loses someone due to coronavirus causes us pain. But every business owner who loses his world also hurts us,” he said.
The money will be used to fund 770 new hospital beds, 800 new positions – doctors, nurses and paramedical staff – and 3,000 students who will be trained in the healthcare field.
In addition, geriatric hospitals will receive 1,000 new beds and 600 more positions. Another 1,400 beds will be added to the home hospitalization network. With these changes, the system is expected to be able to handle 2,400 serious patients.
The government is hoping that the new restrictions will buy some time until the effects of its booster campaign can be felt.
But not everyone is happy with the move.
Zion Hagay, head of the Israel Medical Association, said that the move was a little too late and that the health funds barely cover the already existing deficit in the Israeli health system. He added that it would be hard to train staff to fill so many roles in the final hour.
He also condemned the prime minister for equating the death of a loved one to losing one’s job.
“None of us should take human life lightly or compare personal injury to economic harm or property,” Hagay said. “Everyone who saves one soul has saved a world.”
The significance of this is that mass vaccinations are not likely to halt the spread of Covid and its variants. However, those who rule the Australian cesspool do not want to think about this bad news, but hope that vaccines will keep things rolling on until the next Covid crisis, and by that time, they will have their pension, or whatever, and be off, or at least out of the lime light.

“Scientists advising European governments are starting to realize that the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) is likely to be around for a very long time and that mass vaccinations are not going to eradicate it. They are now recommending that the virus be allowed to circulate throughout the population, with precautions taken for vulnerable individuals.
As part of this, British experts have called for an end to mass testing.
“We don’t have anything that will stop transmission, so I think we are in a situation where herd immunity is not a possibility and I suspect the virus will throw up a new variant that is even better at infecting vaccinated individuals,” Andrew Pollard, director of the Oxford Vaccine Group, told a parliamentary panel.
Pollard argued that if mass testing was not stopped, “the UK could be in a situation of continually vaccinating the population.” He said that only those with symptoms should be tested while others should go about their daily lives.
Infectious disease expert Paul Hunter, professor of medicine at University of East Anglia, told the panel that vaccination would not bring about herd immunity. He said it was time to stop concentrating on supposed cases rather than actual infections.
“We need to start moving away from just reporting infections or just reporting positive cases admitted to hospital, to actually start reporting the number of people who are ill because of COVID,” said Hunter, who also advises the World Health Organization (WHO) on the virus. “Otherwise we are going to be frightening ourselves with very high numbers that actually don’t translate into disease burden.”
According to recent reports, analysis by Public Health England has shown that vaccinated and unvaccinated people have a similar viral load when they catch the virus and likely have the same odds of transmitting it to others.
U.K. scientists aren’t the only ones arriving at these conclusions. Iceland’s state epidemiologist voiced similar sentiments on Aug. 8. Local paper reported Visir that “a record number of people [in Iceland] have been diagnosed infected in recent weeks, despite the fact that the majority of the population has been vaccinated.”
“We really cannot do anything else but allow the virus to take its course in order for the population to achieve herd immunity,” said Porolfur Gudnason, chief epidemiologist of Iceland’s Directorate of Health. “We need to try to vaccinate and better protect those who are vulnerable, but let us tolerate the infection. It is not a priority now to vaccinate everyone with the third dose.”
Experts have been trying to stop vaccinations for the past several months
Experts were giving similar recommendations in the past several months only to be ignored and ridiculed.
In April, former Pfizer Vice President Dr. Michael Yeadon implored those in the medical profession to stop giving COVID-19 vaccines to people who are not at risk of dying from the virus.
“Just stop giving them the vaccine. People are dying,” Yeadon said. He cited the cases of blood clots in the brain associated with the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Germany where the victims were mostly women under the age of 60. “Those are women who would not have died of the virus. They’re being killed by the vaccine,” said Yeadon, who has extensive experience as an allergy and respiratory researcher.
In March, vaccine expert Dr. Geert Vanden Bossche urged governments to stop vaccination drives. He said in an open letter that vaccinations will fuel the spread of new “dangerous variants” of the virus.
“I am not against vaccination. On the contrary, I can assure you that each of the current vaccines has been designed, developed and manufactured by brilliant and competent scientists,” wrote Dr. Vanden Bossche, a seasoned vaccine developer who coordinated the Ebola vaccine program at the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).
“However, this type of prophylactic vaccines is completely inappropriate, and even highly dangerous, when used in mass vaccination campaigns during a viral pandemic,”
A prophylactic or preventative vaccine involves introducing antigens into a person’s body. The goal is that the individual’s immune system will create antibodies for those antigens and become immune to the associated illness.
Mass vaccination during pandemic makes virus more infectious
Vanden Bossche said the ongoing mass vaccination drives are “likely to further enhance adaptive immune escape as none of the current vaccines will prevent replication or transmission of viral variants.”
Immune escape is a term used to describe when the host – in this case humans – is no longer able to recognize and counter a pathogen such as a relevant variant or mutant of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.
“The more we use these vaccines for immunizing people in the midst of a pandemic, the more infectious the virus will become,” Vanden Bossche wrote. “With increasing infectiousness comes an increased likelihood of viral resistance to the vaccines.”
Under this scenario, manufacturers will be forced to refine or improve the vaccines, which will then increase the selection pressure. Selection pressure is a term used to describe the process that helps an organism or pathogen to evolve in ways that make it better adapted to its changing environment. An antibiotic resistance, which is caused by overuse of antibiotic drugs, is a good example of selection pressure.
The virus will effectively outsmart the highly specific antigen-based vaccines that are being used and tweaked.
Vanden Bossche said the multiple emerging, “much more infectious” viral variants are already examples of immune escape from our innate immunity, and most likely created by the government interventions themselves – lockdowns and mask mandates.
Our innate immune system protects us from a multitude of pathogens, thereby preventing these pathogens from causing disease. Vanden Bossche noted that suppression of innate immunity, especially in the younger age groups, can become very problematic.
“There can be no doubt that lack of exposure due to stringent containment measures implemented as of the beginning of the pandemic has not been beneficial to keeping people’s innate immune system well trained,” he wrote.
As the innate immune system cannot remember the pathogens it encountered – innate immunity has no so-called “immunological memory” – we can only continue to rely on it provided we keep it “trained” well enough.
“By keeping the innate immune system trained, we can much more easily resist germs which have real pathogenic potential. It has, for example, been reported and scientifically proven that exposure to other, quite harmless coronaviruses causing a ‘common cold’ can provide protection, although short-lived, against COVID-19 and its loyal henchmen (i.e., the more infectious variants),” wrote Vanden Bossche.
Training is achieved by regular exposure to a myriad of environmental agents, including pathogens. Thus, lockdowns and mask mandates are possibly stunting the training of our innate immune system.”
