As far as I am aware the Australian health authorities do not hold to the lab leak origin for Covid-19. I think they are still back with the natural evolution idea of 2012. Escape from a secure communist Chinese lab? Phooey! But at present samples of Hendra virus, Lyssavirus and Hantavirus are still unaccounted for being reported missing from Queensland's Public Health Virology Laboratory in August 2023. Let's do the maths, that's over a year. The viruses were either taken from secure storage or destroyed, but at present no-one knows. The authorities think that there is a minimal risk to the public, as samples were likely to degrade in the environment, and hey, no-one has been reported dead or ill from these diseases yet.
Still, the point remains, how do samples of dangerous viruses just disappear, or remain unaccountable? It does not produce much trust in the system, which we are told is "secure."
