Lawfare to Protect the Government Parasites! By Charles Taylor (Florida)

Lawsuits are coming thick and fast by the Democrats and those who have been feeding out of the public trough for so long. Here is latest attempt to rerail Elon Musk's DOGE attempt to trim down the government waste and corruption:

On February 14, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan postponed her decision on whether the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) should be barred from accessing government systems, following a request from 14 states. The states sought a temporary restraining order against DOGE, led by tech entrepreneur Elon Musk, during a hearing in the case of New Mexico v. Musk. The judge seemed skeptical of the motion and directed the states to submit proposed language for the restraining order by February 15, although she did not specify when she would make a ruling. Judge Chutkan acknowledged the importance of safeguarding government information, stressing that once confidential data is leaked, it cannot be undone.

The controversy stems from President Donald Trump's creation of DOGE through Executive Order 14158, issued on January 20. The order reorganized the U.S. Digital Service, originally established by President Barack Obama, into the U.S. DOGE Service, which aims to audit and improve government productivity and efficiency. Additionally, Trump signed Executive Order 14210 on February 11, directing federal agencies to work with DOGE to reduce staffing and limit hiring. The White House has referred to Musk as a special government employee, which could allow him to bypass certain disclosure requirements typically applicable to government workers. That worries the crooks.

A group of 14 states, including New Mexico, Michigan, California, and Massachusetts, filed a lawsuit on February 13, accusing Musk of causing disorder and accessing sensitive government data without proper authorisation. They argued that, with Trump's approval, Musk has been granted unchecked power, disrupting federal agencies and violating the separation of powers. The complaint expressed concern over Musk's unregulated control, equating him to an "18th-century monarch."

DOGE's access to government systems has faced multiple legal challenges. In one case, a judge granted a temporary restraining order against DOGE's access to Treasury Department systems on February 8. Other lawsuits, including one involving the University of California Student Association, have resulted in temporary restrictions on DOGE's access to student loan data. However, some cases have been dismissed, such as a lawsuit brought by labor unions, which the court ruled lacked sufficient standing.

The outcome of these cases remains uncertain, with the matter almost certainly going to the US Supreme Court. But the idea is to tie up the Trump agenda and make things unworkable, as spiteful Leftoids do.
